For an ambulance? One service I run at the truck has 95 thousand, it is 3 years old. Rotates between the backup, so is only in service 6 months a year. The other service our two new trucks both have 75k. Bought Same time, and are 2 years old. Next truck has about 120k, and the spare is well over 300k. Hell, even the paramedic squad has about 98k. Ambulances are not fire engines, they go on calls, and often put 50 to 150 miles or more on the odometer for most of them.

My C7000 TopKick which is a bigger version of this truck has a single alternator but dual batteries. this truck has been updated a bit when it comes to lighting. Lots of LED lights on this truck. As built it would of all been your regular bulbs plus strobes.

Our town used to have a spare Ambulance it rarely ever got used. Town has about 8 ambulances. was 9. the Ambulance was a 1990 Ford Econoline 350. The Others are just newer upgraded ones over the years. but the Spare 1990 Ford Econoline 350 one had a total of 8,000 miles on it roughly. They sold it at a Private Auction a couple years ago. Sold for $85,500 plus what ever Fees were attached to auction. but It brought in alot of extra Money in for the EMT dept to Hire 1 extra EMT worker, and 2 maintenance workers for a year. Which our town did approve extra budget for EMT the following year that allowed to keep the extra EMT worker and 2 maintenance workers on for future.

Thats cool rig. My ole girl and her twin was retired about 5 years ago before she was converted to a pickup and I got her. Mine never got any modern updates like your unit she rocked her original 1989 specd gear. Your unit is most likely technacilly a 1988 built truck since the trucks would of been built as a incomplete chassis then after all the conversions completed had a VIN issued. you should have two dates on your drivers side door jam, cab side. Thats how mine is. mines a 1990 but really it was built as a incomplete chassis in 1989 and after its 4x4 conversion and Coach conversion was issued a VIN at completion in 1990. Mines a C7000 TopKick. basically the same as a regular C7000 except the cab is 7 inchs higher, double framed and a tilt hood. They both share the same cab and interior. also your trucks is a C7000 not a C7000 Sierra. Sierra is just a interior trim level. Like mine has the Sierra Classic interior trim. There was also a Grande,Silvarado, etc trim but werent actual model names to later on.

What a fantastic video. Wonderfully put together as always, Mike. Now allow me to generate some debate. I've done some research and discovered that Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps is by their own admission Teaneck's only emergency ambulance service. Teaneck is a town of 40,000 people. As an Australian paramedic I find it amazing that there are towns in the US that don't have ready access to professional paramedics. I take my hat off to anybody who spends time volunteering in the community, but at least in Australia paramedicine like other allied medical services is a profession. You wouldn't have citizens volunteering to be the town doctor, nurse, dentist, or vet. My point being is that Americans should not be denied the very best in prehospital emergency medicine. I know some US cities have world class EMS but surely that should be extended nationwide?

Teaneck has access to paramedics 24/7. They are just dispatched separately. In NJ most if not all paramedics are under a hospital-based system that supports the BLS units in the areas. Volunteers help to keep the cost of operations lower saving the patient from larger bills for services. The EMS services in the US are under two umbrellas. The department of transportation and healthcare. Therefore EMS is looked at as a red-headed stepchild. Hope this information helps.

All paramedics in NJ are hospital based, by law there cannot be municipal/county based ALS. All municipal/volunteer agencies are BLS. It’s a dual dispatch system where you have the municipal based BLS ambulance respond and the hospital based ALS unit respond to ALS calls. It’s an old system that needs some fixing because as a hospital based corporation, staffing ALS units is more about the bottom line than is what’s needed for the area they serve.

You must be from the East...In WA once your out of the Perth a good number of the country ambulance stations are purely volunteer ambulance staff with the support of a community paramedic covering a large area for training needs. No ALS or invasive skills.

@@tylercardy6644 St. John in Western Australia is our nation's black sheep. Their management is always criticised. It should be taken over by the W.A. Government in line with other states. Residents in towns and remote communities outside Perth deserve ready access to paramedics. Queensland can do it. South Australia's ambulance came out of the dark ages when St. John S.A. was taken over by their state government. Now it's Western Australia's turn to have world class ambulance like the rest of the country.

We had an older Bedford with proper two tone air horns, halogen blue on the grille, and 2 large blue rotators on the roof. It was immaculate when we got it. Ran alongside our frontline Iveco, sadly we had an electric vertical roller shutter door in its bay. Yup, you guessed it, one by one they got taken out by 2 different volunteer drivers. The kids at the events we went to were heartbroken, until our new mercedes front line turned up ! It was beautiful 😍

Vendor: How many lights you need? Teaneck: How many lights you got? Vendor: ..... um. Teaneck: Well, quadruple that number and we're getting close. LOL Yes. Visibility is important. No. That many lights does not make you any more visible than a reasonably spec-d rescue. No. I don't care to debate that statement. The two stacked light bars on the cab roof/box front and the double grill lights on the front mount top do no more to warn drivers than just the standard front single light bar mount. No. . . the four quad LED bars do not have any better warning power than standard single unit grill mount lights. No. The rotating aero beacons paired with the side strobes aren't "enhancing" your visibility. Y'all wouldn't need the second engine if you didn't have 4 times the number of lights you actually need. LOL. The best part: Y'ALL AREN'T EVEN ALS! It's fantastic. Basics running around with more lighting power than ALS and paramedic units. "BUT WE'RE SAFER!" LOLOLOLOL. Oh-kay buckwheat. Back to the barn please. Sometimes, too much is just too much. And it's usually only found on volunteer squads. No knock, but dang, you volunteer guys like to see things blink and flash.
