This thing is freaking awesome! If that air conditioner on the roof has a solid metal top panel, they could mount a spare tire on it. My FD has a 4x4 Ranger with a small water tank & pump plus a mount for a patient next to it, but there's no room for an EMT on the back. We also had to beef up the rear suspension because it would bottom out with the water and only the driver on-board. I wish we had a proper 6x6.

I’m from a very rual community and I never even thought about using one of these at events. My dad is the EMT Chief and he’s mentioned that it’s a nice concept, but just not practical for his set up. The nearest hospital is 30 miles away so it’s easier just to take the ambulance as close as they can and use a pickup if they need to get closer.

As nice as this is. It’s just too expensive. When we looked at one, we could not afford the 50,000 price tag. We opted for a KIMTEK insert for a John Deere 6x4. Cut the price in half. We have the stretcher attachment. Plus we installed an aftermarket cab to enclose the front. Now we are working on getting a fabricated enclosure for the back.

What a great little rig! Here in Australia we use Toyota Troopcarrier ambulances for off road locations, but this would be great to back up our e-bike paramedic response units at big events. Just a question regarding BLS and ALS. Is a cardiac monitor used only by ALS or is it always used by anybody and just not mounted during filming?
@chrisc53603 жыл бұрын
ALS is slang for paramedic. BLS means EMT, equivalent to an ambulance transport officer. Basic level of care that can’t do cardiac monitoring, iv medications or intubation, etc. that’s reserved for paramedics (als level care).
@EricWhiteTheGamer3 жыл бұрын
I would like to not start an argument or cause confusion but it can be used by any level of medics to monitor hurt raytheon. There is also three levels: BLS (Basic Life Support) ALS (Advanced Life Support), and then paramedics. That being said it depends on where you are. They just don’t have it equipped probably just because they didn’t either think about it or didn’t want it.

Our city has one… but it has everything without needing to switch over any equipment and it’s a paramedic unit staffed with two paramedics, I just am not sure if it’s full time or if the crew of an ambulance switch’s to it… we don’t call ours an ambulance cause if we did it would have to be registered and cost a lot more.
@2Fast4Mellow3 жыл бұрын
Are you (medics) allowed to answer a call with a non-registered ambulance? Or is it just called 'Rescue' or similar and only used to stabilize the patient and move him/her to a more open spot where a 'regular' ambulance can take over? I would assume that calling a vehicle an ambulance also requires that the crew can perform a predetermined minimum set of tasks as part of the certification.
@EricWhiteTheGamer3 жыл бұрын
@@2Fast4Mellow they are allowed to transport to the hospital if needed though most times though most times it would do a transfer to a normal ambulance… ours is called a rapid response unit so it is registered and can be treated as an ambulance but it’s not a registered ambulance… I am 16 I was told this two years ago… I would need to find out more clearly. For us we mainly use it at fairs, carnivals, and sport games where we need first aid standing by and a small unit to be able to get into the crowds as long with golf courses and trails… including trails on the hospital campus and college campus.
@2Fast4Mellow3 жыл бұрын
@@EricWhiteTheGamer Thank you for the clarification. I've lived for 30 years in Europe where an ambulance is always an ambulance. For me it is a little weird that something that looks like an ambulance isn't an ambulance, but a rapid response vehicle.. That is also part of why I watch channels like these. There are so many cultural differences between Europe and the United States that even after 12 years I still keep learning new things which are usually very subtle..
