Hes just saving his money and spending the big bucks on the tools that he needs to. I'm a VW tech and have pretty much the same stuff, I use all ICON pliers and sockets because they're good affordable tools.

I use knipex pliers... vessel screwdrivers, gear wrench ratchet wrenchs and ratchets and Icon sockets.... my theory is if/when I break something I'll replace it with snap-on. Until then I'm not spending the money.
