The next part - what's inside the module in resin:
• Stun gun high voltage ...
Today, let's take a look inside a small cheap dodgy Chinese stun gun. It's a WS-618 type self-defensive flashlight. I've partially drawn the schematic of it. The rest of the schematic inside of the high voltage module in a resin will hopefully be reverse engineered in the second part.

@@mernok2001 There is a phase of the cardiac cycle at the end of the contraction where an electric shock (of a few milliseconds) may induce ventricular fibrillation which causes death if it isn't stopped (which is done with another shock from a defibrillator). Another way high voltage may kill you is, that it easily breaks the relatively high resistance of the skin and actually allows high currents to flow and thereby cause internal burns. These internal burns may release enough toxic substances that they may overwhelm the whole organism and may cause death. A problem is, that those accidents often leave just small mark on the surface and may be misjudged as not so bad.

The big one is the real thing. The output is HVAC directly from the secondary winding of the HV transformer. It can knock down a bull. It is pretty much like an automotive ignition coil, but the primary is pulsed with about 1000V from a capacitor discharge through a spark gap, making the output dangerously high (like the old HE ignition system). The small one is a toy. It is just an oscillator pulsing some 20KHz to step-up HV-HF transformer and then the output is fed to an HV multiplier. So the output is HVDC instead of HVAC and the noise is because of capacitors discharging. These types of "tasers" are known to just make the attacker angrier, but does nothing to put him/her/it down. At least the loud sound is somewhat scary, but nothing else.

Everyone inside was the same, all with the resin minibox with oscillator and L-C discharge group inside. THEY ARE NOT VALID. that oscillator costs less than 5 euros, it is powered at 3.7 volts and after a use exceeding a minute, inside its box the final stage is shorted for very little heat dissipation. The recharging system as you said is a FRAGATURA, it is not worth 1 euro, you always have the live line inside the stungun ...... The power cable so fine is a good fuse ...... Most of those modules rely on being potted to function. They have inadequate separation to function in air without being potted in resin. They would simply arc prematurely before the full voltage is formed and destroy themselves. Not that they totally function IN resin either, and will eventually destroy themselves anyway.

Try using a heat gun on anything with resin or potting compound, sometimes it will melt and other times it gets brittle so you can remove it with a pick and hammer or screwdriver or similar. Sometimes it doesn't work but it's worth a shot since it could let you see the components without destroying them. Maybe also try chemicals like some acids or acetone though they are likely going to damage the components.

That looked rather dodgy, those switches were certainly not rated for the current, the 5mm LED was grossly overloaded, and I doubt the batteries would be capacble of 2.2A for very long (as they are quite tiny) When you do your follow up video please open up the packet of batteries so we can see what the rating of each cell is :) and maybe also run a capacity test using your meter :)

On the topic of the 250V capacitor, I've seen A LOT of 250V rated glass fuses on mains, not just consumer equipment (if it has a fuse, it's a 250V fuse probably 99.9% of the time) but also in industrial control systems, which is ridiculous, you'd expect industrial equipment to have properly rated components, but I've even seen the small 250V fuses on 400V circuits (565V peak) then again, industrial equipment is often overpriced by a lot (like siemens 4GB CF cards going for 10k€ and you can't use a regular card)

Maybe before dismantling the HV module, you might put it on continuous-spark (with a decent battery PSU) to see how long it lasts before burning out. The module in my stungun failed after, I'd guess, 5min of 'normal' use - periods of 5-10secs of sparking - so they seem fairly delicate. FYI, those Ebay 3-7kv transformers that cost just a few $, can KILL an expensive mains power supply if you try to power one from it. I found out that the hard way!!! Always power these from batteries.
