thanks a lot for the tear down, very interesting! 3 small fans, all mounted on rubber, did i see that correctly? when it's on for half an hour or so, mine is not so loud, but watching movies for a couple of hours, it gets a lot more audible i wish there was a version without the android system and without speakers and amplifier, space could be used for bigger quieter fans and i never use the interface anyway, i have the nvidia shield TV, PlayStation 3 and cable box for content i would buy one instantly if it was available

Was hoping to see if any thermal paste replacement as mine had over heating issues. Its still working fine, just that i had to put an external fan on the intake side to give it some help. Thats why i thought surely if i can reapply thermal paste it shoild resolve thr issue.

As for me, I'm waiting STILL for the Dell S718QL 4K ultra-short-throw LASER projector; an August email from the folks at Dell informed me that it should be released by late October. T'is a wee bit expensive though, i.e., about 6,000 USD!

For those who are interested in swapping the fans. It is possible but you will have to keep one original fan running for the fan speed. If you don’t the Projektor will notice that the Fans run too slow and will shut it down. I replaced mine with 80x80x10 from noctua.and added 2 additional fans to the exhaust side so it will suck out the hot air. Now the noise is very acceptable.

I have taken apart my Xiaomi MI laser projector as well to figure out how to change the fans to a silent one, But I found that the noise comes from the color wheel which is inside somewhere in the light source I believe you can change the color wheel but I didn't know how, it may be very difficult There are 3 fans in this projector 80x80x25mm. Which is OK quality. If you think by changing the fans you will get rid of noise you may be mistaken. In my case my color wheel was very noisey, but if you absolutely know that you have a silent color wheel than go ahead change the fans for the silent ones like Noctua, I wished this projector was silent and smaller and light weight. I'm giving 3 of 5 stars. You must have absolutely flat wall surfers for this projector to injoy it since light project from an angel approximately 15° I look forward for better projectors in the near future

You are correct. The noise (at least mine) is coming from the color wheel. I took it apart to change the fans and even with all of them unplugged the noise is still there. I changed them anyway and they may be a little quieter but it also makes the color wheel noise a little more noticeable. I wouldn't mind seeing a video of someone tearing it down to the color wheel.

You made a tear down video, while everyone looking at this projector to buy is waiting for a in depth review of the quality projection it has, very dissapointing. Also you don't respond to people's question on how it performs very strange if you ask me, like you have no idea how it performs or rather can't tell. I would stay away from this projector what I have read that it has a very basic DMD chip same as in the Xgimi H1 so it's really a Xgimi H1 but with a laser light source and ultra short throw output. That justifies the price it's not low just normal price for the device.
