Your doula bag looks amazing! I'm a doula myself-- and I live off of coffee as well. Best thing I've ever put in my doula bag? VIA instant packs from starbucks. All you need is hot water... and you have yourself a cup of coffee. It's a HUGE space saver for my bag so I'm not lugging around cans and weighing my body down while assisting my client into the labour room :)

I so wish I had chosen a different Doula. She was asking me (while in active labor), if I had things you keep in your bag. I'm on my own journey of becoming a birth doula and found this very informative! Thank you for taking the time to share and educate our community. Much LOVE!

Loved this video! As a newer doula it is definitely fun to learn from the experienced. One thing I have is re usable heat packs. Some hospitals don't allow microwave use for warming things and they are so handy to snap the little disk inside and have immediate heat. They last maybe 30-60 min and Then I boil them to re set them later.

Love this video, great tips on being there for momma and partner! Since you mentioned not liking packaging you should consider paper straws since plastic ones don't biodegrade!! Plastic silverware could be upgraded too, if you switched to paper or bamboo options. I love your energy in this, so contagious!
@AngieBeeHotz6 жыл бұрын
Thats a great idea Victoria!! Thanks for the suggestion. I will get some ordered!
@TwilightSparkle296 жыл бұрын
Victoria Patton great idea but you shouldn’t get rid of plastic entirely, bamboo and paper don’t bend making it harder for the mother to take a drink from them, bamboo breaks and poses a choking hazard, and both paper and bamboo can pose an allergy risk to the mother as well. Just thought I would throw my two cents in here

What do you do for births for moms that are autistic and/or have sensory problems? Have you ever used things like chewy jems during births? I'm on the fence about whether or not to get pregnant/have birth children because of both my mental issues and some physical (although not making pregnancy dangerous like a low back injury) issues making the process very daunting. What advice would you give to person with medical issues that got the green light to be pregnant from the doctor but scared/unsure about the additional challenges they might face? (Currently not pregnant or partnered, just posing a what if and in my mid 30s, knowing time now can be a factor)

We’re you able to find answers to your questions or any decisions about family planning since this comment a year ago? Since every birth is as unique as the woman and the baby she is having...I suppose it depends on the doula and their compatibility with the family that would determine what tools or techniques were used. This is a fascinating question and I imagine there are some agencies that specialize in such considerations.

Wondering about your autoimmune disorder and how it impacts your doula practice. I've been looking into becoming a doula but have fibromyalgia and concerned about the long hours during births. Any other suggestions to be successful? I love your doula bag! Looking forward to creating my own. I have a grandbaby arriving in November and my daughter would enjoy the tennis ball massage.

Is the electrolytes for Mom or you? What would we ask before we give it to mom if it is for her??
@AngieBeeHotz6 жыл бұрын
Both! It's important to stay hydrated in order to have a regular contraction pattern. In active labor it's a good idea to sip on an electrolyte drink or alternate water and electrolyte drink after every other contraction. If the mom wants the kind that I bring with me then I offer it to
