Wow, I love and respect Anthony so much. I really learned alot from his insights. I respect Ryan for exploring his experiences with youtube over the past 10 years. Many of us have been journeying here with Ryan since he started, and can have empathy for his experiences of being so young and just fooling around with Sean with how to be Ninja, Emo, Nerd, Gangsta, and following him throughout the boom of the industry, the explosion of his channel, and certainly have empathy for how much of his life and identity is in youtube - also the complexities of that, the pressure to constantly turn out content that feeds the algorithms, growing up and wanting to explore different creative voices, burn out from constant work, and also from having to express a brand that is an online persona that people adore and coping with fame, while still needing to continue on with his personal growth and maturing into an adult. Just a lot here with Ryan and Anthony - it really shows, and people can feel that it has been 10 years for you both in your voices, you can really feel 10 years in what you are sharing. Thanks a lot Ryan and Anthony for being yourselves here and for sharing the reality of your mega fame on youtube.

When I was a wee lad in the mid 00s, I used to watch a lot of you, ShaneDawsonTV, Smosh, etc. Since the mid 2010s I didnt really keep up with the OG channels. I didn't even know about the Off the Pill podcast until a few months ago. But I love these interviews with the OG creators, it's like seeing long lost friends again after almost a decade.

Some Smosh videos are legendary on youtube. Like the smosh food-battle, pokemon and other videos! But know it's scripted and they have become actors instead of creators. It's crazy how time flies

erm4gundr I understood his comment pretty well. Maybe you should get educated?
@ferosgan5 жыл бұрын
erm4gundr Well... Let me explain to you then. What I tried to say was, Smosh is not smosh anymore. Smosh is Ian and Anthony’s achievement and not the so called “others” achievement . They sold Smosh and Anthony became an actor instead of a creator. Before Smosh got sold, it had some very good and original content like the Pokémon videos, food battle videos and so on. It’s still so awesome to think, that Smosh has been on KZbin for so many years with the old videos which is what I meant with saying “How time flies”. Hope you get it now😄

I can relate really well with not feeling like you deserve what you have. A friend told me I’m just really humble but that’s not it. It’s more shame, the sense that something’s wrong. But yes it’s actually a good thing at times since it keeps me from taking things for granted.

Comedy doesn't always have to have a message. Sometimes I think it has a message too often. Learning and growing is great, but we need a break just to laugh every now and then. This is why the new generation is considered the most depressed generation, just constantly focusing on politics and trying not to offend people. In some ways, things are much better now, but the downside is how we no longer have genuine fun. I like that Anthony's videos have meaning now, but Jenna Marbles is a great example of making the world a better place without necessarily spreading a message. I actually think that brings people together more than trying to educate people all the time.

I feel the same way as Anthony, if content doesn't invoke something in me or educate me, it can be done using humor, but if it's shallow it's not for me. I have other means to entertain myself mindlessly, I don't need KZbin for that. I love being mindlessly entertained when I'm with a group of friends or something, but it's different then because it's spontaneous, it's not a conscious decision like on KZbin where you sit down and click something by choice.

Back in the old days I used to watch Smosh! I feel like now KZbin is so fake and full of competition... I have huge amounts of respect for Anthony and for this pod cast because these youtubers are being HONEST and giving their real viewpoints and opinions on the modern day KZbin platform. Brilliant!

Interviewer: Ryan, why are firetrucks red? Ryan: Because firetrucks have 6 wheels and 2 people and 6x2 is 12 and 12 inches is a foot and a foot is a ruler and Queen Elizabeth was a ruler, Queen Elizabeth was also a ship, and ships sail the seas, and the seas have fish, and the fish have fins, and the Finns fought the Russians and the Russians are red and firetrucks are always rushin' around.

It really seems like Anthony (and Ian too) grew as a person and Defy didn't let Smosh grow with him. It makes sense that Ian and Anthony would've either stuck with it or split completely.
