Customs and Immigration are two different things. You discussed what it's like to go through Immigration. Immigration is all about who you are and your passport. Customs is about what you are bringing into the country and is done after you get your luggage if it's done at all.

Nice video! Global entry looks like a very smooth process indeed. I read somewhere that kiosks for international visitors have been removed from some airports because the kiosks did not have the ability to properly match the person to the passport photo. Instead non-usa citizens go to a CBP counter & the camera there does match them to the passport photo. All because of a legislative requirement.

Once you get approved for global entry it’s a super smooth and fast process to get through immigrations. Which is a line you don’t want to wait in if you don’t have to!

I have flown several times into LAX from England (I am English). and I think that different airlines have different terminals. Sometimes there are long lines to get to Immigration, sometimes not. Passing Immigration is usually very quick but then you have to pick up your luggage. Then the line starts again , maybe hundreds of people, inch by inch but after schlepping all that way they just wave you through anyway. A word of warning about luggage. Atlanta is our Delta Hub, and I have always checked my bags through to the end Stop. Last week I arrived on route to Savannah GA and passing the Carousel I saw my Case ! This never happened before. so do check your bags destination when checking in.

I am coming to America with US Visa and after go thru the customs and immigration. and take out the bag. Do you know if the drop off bag for Sprit Airline near by? and also Can I walk to Terminal 5 from Terminal B? Thanks
@TheAdventureBuddies
@TheAdventureBuddies 2 ай бұрын
All of the bag baggage carousels are close by (in the same area- with signs) in Terminal B. And then once you go outside the doors from terminal B, take a right and you can walk alongside the sidewalk to Terminal 5. Very easy

Once you’re in the US and flying state to state there is no additional customs or immigration. You’d just use your passport when they ask for ID (US citizens typically use their drivers license)

Usually flights to Hawaii will have every person or group fill out a form, passed out on the plane, declaring where you are staying, for how long, and if you are bringing any regulated/restricted items to the islands. (Think agricultural specimens and such.) One sheet, front and back, then the attendants collect it before the plane lands and that's about it.

Not sure I understand the question. You have an international flight, connecting thru LAX and going next to Terminal 3? If that’s the case you will have to clear immigration, recheck your bags and then proceed to Terminal 3.

Do you by chance know how Global Entry Enrollment on Arrival works at LAX? Is the interview area after or before immigration?
@TheAdventureBuddies
@TheAdventureBuddies 3 ай бұрын
After immigration. And the line varies. So best to give yourself time to wait in line and get it done. Seen long lines and seen no lines Did it for my daughter’s renewal and we waited maybe 20 mins? Actual interview isn’t long.

I am meeting a group of students traveling back from Japan, landing at LAX and then transferring on to Atlanta. They are new to international travel and I want to make sure that they find their way on to their domestic flight. Can I meet them once they clear passport control OR do I need to meet them after they get their bags? Where exactly can I meet them?
@TheAdventureBuddies
@TheAdventureBuddies Жыл бұрын
Since they are connecting thru LAX more than likely you will not be able to met up with them, as they will go thru passport control and then into the transfer/connection line which keeps them in the airport. If they were to leave the airport at Lax then you would meet them after they got their bags inside terminal 4. They wont let you past a certain point, you’ll see all the other people waiting with signs
@sosonolow5094
@sosonolow5094 Жыл бұрын
@@TheAdventureBuddies Thank you. It's not really a connecting flight. It's a different airline and it's many hours later. Isn't there a place after customs inside the airport where people wait to meet their friends/ family who are arriving on an international flight?
@TheAdventureBuddies
@TheAdventureBuddies Жыл бұрын
@@sosonolow5094 gotcha. So I would park inside of LAX, go to terminal 4 arrivals, and then you can wait for them after they go thru passport control and pick up their bags. Not really a lounge area per say. Then they would have to go to their next terminal and then security when it’s time for their next flight.

That sign is illegal as it violates your first amendment right. CBP can’t do shit about it and if they want to attempt to enforce violating your rights, that’s a lawsuit

@@RabidMonkeyOnCrack I retired from CBP last year as assistant port director for HNL. The "no photography/cell phone" regs were enforced all the time. We confiscated at least several cell phones a week and I don't recall any lawsuits to have them returned. I can't speak for CBP in LAX. Are you an attorney, and if so, have you been to court over this issue? Curious to know how this would actually play out.

@@jamesmoninger1982 interesting so not only are you admitting to violating free citizens’ first amendment right but also their fourth amendment right against unlawful search and seizure. Not only that, you’re also admitting to not reading official DHS documentation and operational briefings specifically HQ-ORO-002-2018. No I’m not a lawyer, I’ll do you one better. My name is Cheryl Davies, I am the LAX Area Port Director. I oversee 8 airports. As a good port director that believes in upholding my oath of office, I don’t violate the rights of passengers passing through my airports and I make sure all of my CBPOs understand what rights they are to respect.

@@TheAdventureBuddies pretty much the non-us version of what you did… going through immigration and customs when coming into LAX from an international flight as a non-us citizen. The process, the questions, the time consumed, the directions on where to go, and all that. We are coming through LAX later this year and needing to transfer to a domestic flight after we’ve been through these official steps, so it would be great to see something along these lines to ease our minds and give us a ‘heads-up’ on what to expect.

Customs and tsa were a complete joke. Flew into this toilet four weeks ago Munich, and it was embarrassing.snotty, mean employees, poorly marked signage, trash everywhere outside the terminal, homeless vagrants outside. Avoid this airport if you can. The state is circling the drain and LA is leading the way by inept and indifferent people who don’t care about service, safety, or your ability to travel.

I haven't flown into LAX for years but the last time it was pretty quiet & they had some good systems. For example for each line they had a CBP person checking people's arrival cards even before they got to the counter - so anything a passenger had missed could be corrected. When I got to the counter the officer asked what I'd be doing & I explained Disneyland & a few other attractions. Guy was polite and efficient. Was through the whole process in about 30 minutes at most.
