So our 29' Airstream is an '88. We did paint but loved the cabinets and layout. So we didn't gut and then give up. So many times that happens and we end up with a ruined Airstream. If you plan on doing this, plan ahead, do the big stuff first and keep the rig in usable condition so you can use it and that will inspire you to not give in and quit. I had to repair some floors so I took down the overhead lockers to paint those but also paint the entire ceiling/walls in one go. When the floor was repaired I laid new flooring to mid RV. All the while we were using our rig to camp at times. After the first year camp season was over and I started on the rear half of the rig. Floor repair, paint bed frames, put down rubber cargo mats for the cargo area, and laid flooring to complete the biggest make over. Then along and along I removed and built new cabinets that we could store the trash can, changed out the fridge and had to rebuild the cabinet it was housed in and made new counter tops and flip tops. Just last year I tackled the bath but still not sure about the shower stall. I have a tour on my channel for comparison. But the bath and countertops have not been built at the time of the video. We are weekend warriors but plan on travelling west when I retire. Just recently I replaced the axles which was supper easy and it tows even better than before. Airstreams are worth the investment. We bought in 2017 and she has almost tripled in value since.
