I have been an Amazon custormer for a few years. My first call when I want something is to look it up on Amazon. I have to say, I have never been disappointed with either the goods or the service which in my opinion is first class. Thank you Amazon :)

If that happened in the US, I have a hard time believing it. You can't fire a worker for an on the job injury. There are Worker's Comp rights in every state. A company firing an employee like that would be in deep crap and sued for a likely 6 figure compensatory ruling.
@CuteAnimeGirl
@CuteAnimeGirl 7 жыл бұрын
How they get away with it is when you go to "Amcare" (Amazon infirmary basically) they will try to get you to write down exactly how, when, and why the accident occurred. If you can't pinpoint the exact moment in time (as well as area) and have PROOF then they will just say it wasn't Amazon's fault. The employees at Amcare basically will try to make you blame yourself (you have to sign something in a very specific way when you fill out the injury form, if you write it the "wrong" way they will tell you to rewrite it until it shows that Amazon wasn't at fault as clear as day). I think the only time someone ever got worker's comp at my Amazon was when a tote fell off the conveyer onto their head and it was caught ON TAPE. You really need videotaped proof of injury, they will always try to blame you first. Oh and they will also take up a whole lot of your "time off task" to have a reason to fire you, not for the injury itself. The longer you spend in Amcare the higher your chance of getting fired for being "off task". Unless you have a really cool manager who writes it off (a lot won't).

Interesting video. Thinking about taking a job as an area manager. The hours aren't terrible and the pay is amazing. Benefits seem like a huge perk also. I'm guessing the "anger" is coming from the unskilled work and people that were fired.
@jnslzr
@jnslzr 5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, from team leaders and up there are no rates but CPTs, which is what makes "unskilled" associates life miserable I believe... BTW it's unfair that CPTs are charged to "unskilled" associates anyway, who have to leave their current job to attend these interruptions, thus lowering their rates.

Troutlifter fun and games? I’m sure it’s grueling to have to constantly deal with a bunch of grown babies that don’t want to work for getting paid. 🙄 Then to have your own supervisors scream down your neck like you’re an all controlling god.

Only fun it seems... I now understand why so many AMs don't really know/understand the basics of the work they're supposedly supervising, causing unnecessary re-work, or delays, or worse, associates' low rates :-)

Most of the complaints here are from uneducated, disgruntled $12/hr associates. Don't blame others for your lack of performance. The lowest man on the totem pole will always be overworked. Don't like it? Make a change.
@FiladelfiaStudios

What's uneducated to you? I worked there for a little over a month and its hell, I had a great shift (Mon-Thurs 7am-6pm) and I can honestly say Amazon does indeed over work people. 99% of the people that I worked with all had the same view, they hated it.
@CuteAnimeGirl
@CuteAnimeGirl 7 жыл бұрын
They could work the night weekend shift at 12 hours which pays $16 starting. Most Amazon warehouses don't have that shift available yet though. Honestly it's the best shift though, slow work (so you can goof off a bit and managers won't care most don't even keep track of TOT on our shift because we have so little work so there's a lot of downtime). Managers are allowed to play music on our shift because of how slow it is (doesn't affect workflow). We get paid more, and we get 4 days off. Anyone working the other shifts I can understand, they are way overworked compared to us. I have the easiest shift ever and plus the rates we need are lower because of less work too. I think our shift is what Amazon SHOULD be. I have done overtime on other shifts and it's a headache, it feels like they want to push everyone way too hard and you don't get paid extra for working harder or anything (or learning things like being an ambassador/problem solver). Oh yeah and I forgot to say but I rarely hear of people getting fired on my shift just because expectations are different for us due to downtime. I have seen the same people here after working over a year at Amazon on my shift but every time I do overtime on the other shifts I see less and less people and the managers are completely different. They can't seem to keep anyone there.

Which location do you work at? In Phoenix, Arizona, the starting pay is $12.25 for the night shift. Is it easy to move up in pay, and if so, how often and how much are the raises in hourly pay? Thanks.
@CuteAnimeGirl
@CuteAnimeGirl 7 жыл бұрын
I work near the Chicago area. The "reduced time" shift (36 hours) pays $16 if you include all differentials. We get overtime pretty much every week since all the shifts are much busier than us, so it's easy to get overtime pay each week. You get a 25 cent raise every 6 months (caps out at 6 raises I think). You can't move up in pay much unless you get promoted though. By the way, most Amazon FCs don't have this shift available yet. Also, part time at my FC pays $18 an hour or something, but no benefits. My FC was built last year and started off at higher pay because there were already other warehouses in this area that STARTED AT $16 an hour so they had to compete with their pay for night shift. Day shift gets paid $13 an hour here. We may get another raise if IKEA's warehouse pays a lot more (as well as DHL), because Amazon is trying hard to retain their people here due to all the competition at other warehouses (we have like 10 other warehouses all in the same area, not even kidding).

My husband is an area manager for Amazon and loves it!! He’s a hard worker and loves a challenge, so it suits him. All the bitter people on here obviously have the shittier low paying jobs on the floor. Maybe if you worked as hard as you moaned, you’d move up in your company too. Just saying....

Amazon hires 50, promises them ALL potential promotions and careers if they work hard and learn fast. Then they promote 1, make a big deal out of it in front of everyone, show how it can be done and then fire 30 of them throughout the next month so they can bring in a new batch of young, energetic and excited and quite inexperienced in full time working. Amazon preys on that inexperience.
