What’s Left For Nintendo’s 2024?

The recent Nintendo Direct kind of blew all of our expectations out of the water. What I thought would be a very subtle presentation, consisting of maybe a few ports and remakes, ended up being one of the best Directs we’ve ever gotten, giving us a brand new Mario Party, a 2D Zelda, and even reviving the Mario & Luigi series after nearly nine years. It kind of makes you wonder: What’s even left for 2024? Well, all of that will be answered in this video!

Honestly, I think after the last Direct, there really needs to be nothing more for 2024. It's a super solid lineup, much more solid than what any of us expected, and I dare say even much more solid than many previous years that didn't have us expecting the system's end. But if I had to pick one more game I'd love and I think is realistic: Then I'd take yet another Kirby game. Ideally a spin-off, before they hopefully grace us with a Forgotten Land follow-up for the new System.

I’m pretty shocked that most videos about the Switch 2 never being up an upgraded APU Performance is clearly the Switch’s worst issue now as it was when it released Hearing “most importantly new games” with no mention of a cpu and graphics upgrade is pretty wild 😭 Especially with the ROG Ally and the Legion Go proving that handhelds can run triple AAA titles now

If we were getting a let’s go game or any mainline Pokemon game this year, it would’ve been announced on Pokemon day, they announced only ONE mainline game on Pokemon day and it was a teaser it wasn’t even gameplay, that tells me that legends Z-A is a switch 2 game and they wouldn’t announce a 2025 game several months before a 2024 game that doesn’t make any sense.

My prediction is that the switch 2 presentation event is going to hapen early next year (feb) and a release on August 2025 with the remake of OoT, a new 3D mario and Metroid Prime 4 (cross gen) also a casual game like 1-2 switch that uses the new features of the console. At the third party side I have a strong feeling that we are having Elden Ring Full Edition for the next console.

I really hope they make a MM3 soon! I loved making levels for my family to play. I could be on that game making or playing levels for hours on end. Now, I don't think we are going to get it before Switch 2 releases. I also don't thinks it'll be announced until a few year after Switch 2 is released. But hey, here's hoping.

It's interesting that Metroid Prime Echoes didn't appear. Last year that game was rumoured to be ready for release as a light HD upscale, not a complete remaster. Since it didn't appear that opens up the odds that Metroid Prime Echoes might be getting the full remaster treatment. Part of this is wishful thinking, but it was a fairly solid rumour source.

I don’t think what you’re saying is a stretch at all. Prime 2 reused a lot of assets from 1, only taking 2 years to release. So not only do they have a complete version of Prime 2 to remaster, they have assets from Prime remaster to use. I wouldn’t be suprised if it’s already finished and they’re just sitting on it

Um, no. First of all, perfect time for the mainline Pokémon games according to who? gen 1 would yield the originals of which it's not the anniversary of, likewise for gen 3, gen 2 is 25 this year but would contradict potential preparations for Z-A of which we might instead see X & Y ports. Second, outside of Directs we don't often see more than one N64 or GBA title per month. Third, NO HOLLYWOOD GAMES unless made by Nintendo. And fourth, just because there's an avenue for Conker's Bad Fur Day, doesn't mean it's automatically gonna show up this year out of the blue, could be 8 months before we see another M rated N64 title.

@@owenanderson8224 Concerning the third point: "Hollywood Games" are titles built off of film and TV licenses, of which the majority are owned by conglomerates in Hollywood CA, hence the term. So far, the only ones on NSO were developed in part by Nintendo. Historically there weren't many Hollywood games on Virtual Console, only TMNT and Star Wars on Wii, of which both franchises are seeing ports on the eShop nowadays. And given the nightmare of permanent licensing, plus lack of relevance outside of the states in the case of the THQ Nickleodeon games, why should Nintendo bend over backwards for Hollywood games? we don't need them on NSO! Concerning the first point: Only the first three generations of mainline Pokémon games are eligible for NSO given the absence of DS onward. Duration between Game Boy's addition and now is not enough to make now the perfect time to add said mainline games contrary to what the talking heads want. Gold & Silver [gen 2] is the only eligible generation to have an anniversary this year, but an NSO release could contradict the plans for the leadup to Pokémon Legends Z-A. By way of contrast, ports of X & Y on the eShop would complement Z-A. And only one generation per period can have the spotlight as a general rule. Therefore, probably no mainline Pokémon on NSO until 2026.

Both Luigi’s Mansion and Metroid Prime 2+3 need to be on Switch. It makes sense. Luigi’s Mansion is the only LM game not on Switch, and Metroid Prime 2 and 3 would make sense as the first game got remastered, and 4 is coming in 2024
