Every time I am in Hollywood and Beverly Hills I have an overwhelming feeling that I am wandering around "a museum of past glamour and excitement". As a person in my early 60's virtually everyone that I admired as a "star" entertainer is now gone. I was so fortunate to have seen many of them in person (Elvis, Dean Martin, Johnny Carson, Ernest Borgnine, Bob Hope, etc etc). Now when I return to SoCal its for the weather, Disneyland, the architecture, physical beauty, and the memories. So with that in mind - a sincere thank you Jordan for keeping the memories alive!

Do you remember a tv show it was called , ABC The Hollywood Palace , taped at The Hollywood Palace?
@nyc783
@nyc783 3 жыл бұрын
@@Jay-vr9ir I DO! It was the original "El Capitan theater that was used by Ralph Edwards for "This Is Your Life" and "Truth or Consequences" until that show moved to NBC on Sunset and Vine (demolished in 1964 for a bank building) - later ABC bought the place and used it for the "Hollywood Palace" shows and in 1975-76, Lawrence Welk did his taping there, until the building was sold. It is one of the landmarks still there, with the Capital Records kata-corner across the street and the Knickerbocker Hotel (now a retirement home) behind it.

@@nyc783 I remember Adam West as Batman pulling up , on The Hollywood Palace and then Merv Griffin used the building for The Merv Griffin Show in the early seventies . I am a tv and location fan , I found the hotel from I love Lucy THE AVALON , in Hollywood at last . I found the beach from the closing of Ski Party, it is at The Annenberg Club and so many more .
@nyc783
@nyc783 3 жыл бұрын
@@Jay-vr9ir I attended the Merv Griffith Show numerous times from 1977-1982. At that time, his shows were taped at the TAV Celebrity Theater, which were the original ABC studios. When ABC relocated to Prospect, the building was used for a bowling alley. Merv bought it in the 70's and turned it into the TAV Celebrity Theater. When his shows stopped, and/or the building was sold, an arson set it on fire. The Brown Derby on Vine as well as Howard Johnsons on Hollywood & Vine (the old Howdy's) was also set on fire. The original Brown Derby was demolished, a shopping center built with a facsimile of the Brown Derby Hat on the third floor outdoor balcony. The Ambassador Hotel and Coconut Grove are gone - most business disappeared to do an unsafe neighborhood.

It's good to see that those landmarks haven't changed very much . I'm really surprised that there's no sign for the Pantages theater because you see it very often in photos and film clips from old Hollywood . That was a great vlog Jordan , keep up the great work and be safe. Btw good luck with your move . Looking forward to Part 2

The Roosevelt is one place where I've felt the ghosts of Hollywood still lingering. Everything from the architecture to the various bars that inhabit the place (w mini bowling alley) to the stlish patio around the pool (the pattern on the bottom of that pool was created by David Hockney). It has a great history and I hope that the careful treatment of that legacy continues on.

Hi Jordan, I liked the Henry Fonda Theatre with the lovely 1920's photo of the lady and the classic old car. I do love that mural of the old Hollywood stars at the cinema. My favourite is the Max factor building, all the great old Hollywood stars that have passed through those doors, I bet they are turning in their graves at the way Hollywood looks today. Great vlog Jordan.

Thanks to you Jordan we get a little taste of that . Thank you for sharing this video with us !! I can't wait for the 2nd part . I remember watching a video on KZbin not long ago and it was Lucille Ball on a talk show . She was telling a story about her and some other people she worked with buried a time capsule at one of the buildings where they worked at . She said , unfortunately they tore the building down and they never got the chance to open it . I would love to see what all they put in their time capsule today wouldn't you ?!! 😮😀😊👍

We held our own “awards” ceremony honoring Drs and government officials that donated their time, fund raising efforts and scientific work done towards the American Heart Assn. at the Rosevelt Hotel, the Biltmore Hotel and Century Plaza Hotel. We also had employee appreciation parties at Paramount Studios a couple of times. It was very nostalgic walking into those hotels and studios full of so much Hollywood history behind them. Thanks Jordan for filling in the details of all of these landmarks that we might have never known about other than passing through the streets in our cars and fighting traffic. ❤️🙏🏻
