I am an American expat living here in Phu Huu, Vietnam for 2 years. My Wife is Vietnamese and an American citizen. We own a new home in Park Riverside and an Apartment. I love living in Vietnam. So safe here. Most of the Vietnamese are friendly. I am learning Vietnamese and love Vietnamese food and Vietnamese coffee. We mostly take a taxi to go place’s because the traffic is crazy in Saigon. I am retired from ExxonMobil and my Wife is retired as well. Life is very simple here. Many Vietnamese, especially younger ones who want to show off their English or learn more English from talking with me. It’s fun. Always meeting different people. Sure I miss America at times. I am from New Jersey but Vietnam is where I like to live.

@@skyetran My Wife wanted to be close to her Daughter and her 2 small grandchildren. So we decided to move to Vietnam. I had been to Vietnam several times and just fell in love with the Country. My Wife and I have been married 8 years in America. Upon my retirement and hers ,we just thought it better financially to live in Vietnam. So many taxes in America. We sold our home and most of what we owned , my Wife sold her Lexus is300. We moved to Vietnam and doing well and also collect Social Security for the both of us. We feel we made to right decision.

Interesting how things have changed and that people can now find HCM easy to settle into, it was a big challenge for me adjusting to the environment and culture and took me at least a year to get a handle on what was going on 😅

My dream would be to move to Vietnam, this video is a perfect example why I’m drawn to the country and the people and lifestyle. Learning the culture and language is a good project for me to dive into at my stage of my life, I always need to have the feeling that I’m learning and each day is a new adventure. Eventually I might meet someone special and share our futures together in Vietnam. ❤️😊🙏

I'm afraid I don't grasp the point the interviewees here are all trying to make about "convenience". It sounds like they're describing a little village. Everything is nearby, open at all hours, no need for public transport, no need to wait to go anywhere or to waste time travelling ... Yet I know that Ho Chi Minh City is a BIG place. I'm puzzled!

Honeymoon period. It fades. 20 years of living, working and traveling in Vietnam. This is like interviewing people two months after they got married and using their opinions as a valid experience of marriage. Did the Vietnamese take you to a restaurant that serves dog? Interview people who have at least five stamps in their passport.
