Mr Loo, have you considered the fact your kids and future grandchildren may not have the time to go to JB ? Both husband and wife will be busy at work during the week, kids have to go enrichment classes and of course their own home house cleaning, laundry and catch up on sleep at week ends. They also have in laws to manage. I think maybe you can consider resetting some expectations to help reduce the family stress. I am speaking from experience. Good luck and wishing you the best.

Something is wrong. If a buyer has to do so much, so prolonged, so expensive and such extensive "renovation" to the house, then it means before the sale, this JB house was not fit for human habitation. You are advised not to fall for this trap. It is a fantasy that SGrean buyers are "safe" from violent robbery in Johor homes. The so-called guard entrance checks will not help you. And if another May 13 incident happens you are NOT safe from the malay/muslim mob.

Very normal for landed properties, own stay. Purchase the subunit and do major renovataion. If you’ve extra money, semi-retired or fully retired, these are the stuff that you do. Enjoy life to the fullest.
