That only really happens when there is a lag in the connection and bugs out on others screens, when on a server,, your plane sends and receives location data to and from the server and if it cant get threw fast enough, then it does that, not really a fsx problem. @@gamutjepah Starlink can be noticeably faster than fiber for two reasons: 1) because the speed of light in a fiber optic is only about 1/3 of the speed of light in a vacuum and 2) because current fiber networks do not take the optimal "point to point" route between any two locations. Neither will starlink, but it will generally take a more optimal route Starlink should see ping times around 50-60% faster than current fiber networks: so that 125ms could be around 80ms with starlink

This is the biggest Mea Culpa I've ever seen from a software giant. They could've taken the easy road and not made it so realistic but they felt that they had to pay reparations to the flight sim community, to make up for their "previous missteps" as they themselves put it, with Microsoft Flight.

The KZbinrs just dont want to show the bad stuff. No dont get me wrong the game is so awesome! I deleted Prepared3D and it had 300 $ of addons. But there are many Bugs that all the Alpha Testers lile me are unhappy about. The Sim is made for gamers and not for simmers. The scenery looks like default Xplane scenery when you fly over 7000 feet. When you fly in the Alps at night time there are street light floating in the air. The A320 Autopilot almost never works. The normal autopilots have some bugs. Ground vehicles are driving over active runways even when im cleared for takeoff. So as I said: Great for Gamers, acceptable for simmers. Kind regards Florian.

I have to tell you guys a little story from 47 years ago. I was working at Lock Haven Airport during the 1972 flood from Tropical Storm Agnes, where there were 171 planes parked on the field. We had 12 feet of water and four inches of mud in the hangar where i worked. One soggy plane was a J-3 owned by the man that ran the welding department at Piper. He restored the plane to perfection and took it up one nice day in March of 73. I saw him take off and while he was up the wind started howling out of the west all of a sudden. No storm clouds yet, just strong wind. Anyway, here comes Frank Swineheart (R.I.P.) in his new looking J-3 at full power, on the runway, but still flying. He was struggling to keep it steady when a couple of guys working in the service hangar saw what was going on and ran quickly out to help hold the plane down. I talked to the owner after he calmed down and said there was nothing he could do but keep flying until the wind quit. He couldn't go forward, left or right or he would have lost it. BTW, FYI in 1979 a brand new PA-18-150 could have been had for $29,000.00.

Someone, either Squirrel or one of the other youtubers I've watched recently, made the observation that the sun's path across the sky changes with the seasons, and I immediately wondered if the same were true for the moon, and how accurately their movements were mapped.

@cymrych79
@cymrych79 4 жыл бұрын
@@colemin2 Well, "need" is a subjective thing here. Besides which, there are zero known asteroids with even a minimal chance of impact over the next several hundred years. So sure, they could model a random asteroid encounter, but why bother? Eclipses, on the other hand, happen at least four times per year, every year, and are mathematically very well known and understood. Depending on the fidelity of the sim's modeling of the sun and moon movement, it is entirely feasible they could have included eclipse modeling. And at least solar eclipses have an aviation connection; 2017's total solar eclipse saw at least one airborne observatory chasing the shadow across the US. But again, do we "need" eclipse modeling in sim? No, I'm sure just about everyone could happily live without it, except perhaps for the handful of sim pilots who also happen to chase solar eclipses around the world (which surely is a minuscule number). But would it be a neat surprise to see in sim? Most definitely! I know I personally would sim-fly to southern South America to chase the total solar eclipse on Dec 14, 2020, for instance.

PSA for Microsoft Flight Simulator: Microsoft Flight simulator uses 3D satellite photogramic data from Bing Maps. This means that Cities in the United States will be modelled with nearly 100% accuracy in the buildings, bridges and terrain and will be very close to their real life counterparts. (You can see this in cities like New York and Los Angeles, San Francisco; very very accurate modelling and awesome visuals) However, this is NOT the case for the whole world. And alot of major cities outside North America will not he modelled accurately because Bing doesn't have the data to do so. (So far cities like London and Sydney have been the first well know victims of this) if the city does not have 3D data then it will be Auto Generated. Some ot the cities will have hand crafted landmarks (In Sydney the opera house was hand crafted, London has Tower Bridge and the Palace of Westminster hand crafted as well) but that's how far it goes. If data is Auto Generated it will be replaced by generic assets (not too different from previous sims) so the Skyscrapers you see in the Square Mile of London are the same generic skyscrapers you'll see in Sydney or Tokyo or Shanghai) Each city will have a couple hand crafted landmarks for recognition but everything else will be inaccurately modelled by AI. We must recognise the brilliant AI though as from the air these cities look very good even with little data from Bing, but if you're a denizen from a city outside the US, don't expect to be able to fly around low to the ground VFR tour style. How do you check if your city had 3D data? Go to Bing Maps. If your city has 3D models when you zoom in on satellite mode then in Microsoft Flight Simulator expect to see an accurate city, if not then expect your city to be auto generated. Google Maps is a nice comparison as it has 3D data for at least 2x the amount of cities in comparison to Bing. You can check to see if your city is in 3D there too. That can be a taste of how accurate your city MAY be in the future (if Bing is able to replicate what Google accomplished) MSF is a huge leap forwards and is the best mapped and most detailed Flight Simulator we've had so far and we must commend them for that. However theres is still a ways to go and I'm sure this sim will well evolve over the next 10 years. This was just to clear up some confusion onto the real reason why Cities like London and Sydney were missing so many obvious buildings and landmarks.

I'm from São Paulo, Brasil, and I've seen some footage from my city. It's still leaps and bounds from anything we ever had out of the box in any previous sim, and it rivals a well known payware that covers my city. The benefit, apart from being free and bundled in the sim, is that the data isn't stuck in mid 2000s. I know it's not photorealistic but still, I'm looking forward for that. A lot.

They won't be happy if Austin Meyer and Laminar start losing money as simmers leave XP11. @@NeedingSleep Yes, the specs for the Series X are impressive, but they have to make it possible for players, if they so choose, to plug in a yoke and rudder pedals, not just use an Xbox controller. The Xbox consoles have USB ports, but the use of secondary controls has to be programmed into the sim for console. You need a keyboard and mouse to be able to control more aspects of the simulator, especially if you are going to fly the airliners eventually. I use to use an Xbox controller for FSX for years, but fortunately, FSX was PC based and PCs already have a mouse and keyboard so the extra mapped controls were possible

Patrick Musson if people leave Xplane that’s on the Xplane devs. I think a new flight sim is good for everyone as it forces sim devs to improve their products and stop being complacent on what they already have. The sims were already getting stale with the lack of new meaningful development. In the end if there’s no competition sims won’t move forward. Regarding Xbox I think there’s a couple of joysticks available for the system, though it would certainly be nice if there was wider support.
@Buggins

Plus, what I would do (which I'm gonna do anyway, I have a 2060 Super and a Ryzen 3600) is to cap the FPS via NVIDIA Control panel to 30 or 35 FPS, it means that I'll run at that framerate in big cities, or plain fields, which makes the experience more consistent. Even if there are zones where you could have more FPS, I prefer to not feel that FPS drop when approaching busy zones.

I see quite a few comments that say something like this "After watching the video, it is obvious that the flight model sucks." My first thought is, how can you possibly know what a flight sim FEELS like, by watching someone else fly. So what I would like to see is some videos where while we are enjoying the eye candy, the pilot talks a little bit about how the sim feels; that is unless that is still under the NDA. Thanks.
