Glad that I'm not the only one. I am 31 years old and I haven't been this excited about a game since I was a kid. I was introduced to FS98 in computer class back in seventh grade, and convinced my parents to buy me FS2000 and a joystick for my birthday that year. Man, I remember how excited I was when I figured out how to get Concorde up to full speed at its cruising altitude. I can't say that I've really played much in recent years since this franchise was abandoned. I would still return to FSX every now and then, but it is horribly dated and the scenery is awful unless you shell out big $$$ for third party stuff. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent in these games wishing that I could fly over my own town and have the actual buildings and highways be accurate. And now I am about to get my childhood wish granted. I have the premium deluxe version preordered and am eagerly counting the days while binge-watching videos from folks like Squirrel.

Thankyou so much for this video. I used to study at St Andrews for three years and live in Edinburgh for one year and the first time I saw review of this game I want to try this route. The Fife Costal Path is a very nice coast line for hiking on a sunny day and there are very good fish and chips in the town along the line. Just a few thing to add: 1) If you're to land at Edinburgh from the East, on a sunny day it's a gorgeous view when landing, as you could see the Arthur's Seat, the Old Town and spires in the Royal Mile, and the Castle forming an very interesting view of the city. The Arthur's Seat is particularly a funny thing to watch from the sky. 2) The Forth Bridge (in red in real life, for train) is a very iconic bridge connecting Lothian (Queensferry) and Fife (North Queensferry) is not properly constructed. Also there's an small island (Inchgarvie) right next to the Forth Bridge actually has abandoned building on it and one of them has a cross on top of it. Something interesting to look at when traveling north on train. 3) Houses in Scotland in this game seem to be much brownier than in real life. Most stone houses, particularly those from the Victorian Period or older, commonly have beige (when pristine) and grey or dark grey colour of stone walls (darker colour due to previous use of coal for heating and dusts). 4) One of the biggest attractive sites in St Andrews is the Ruin of the St Andrews Cathedral, once the largest cathedral in the world and the religious capital in Europe (correct me if I were wrong) before Sccotish Reformation. However, as far as I can tell from 26:43 , the Cathedral and its graveyard is not properly constructed. The game AI seems to fail to construct several iconic University buildings, including the landmark St Salvator's Qudrangle and the St Salvator's Tower; all buildings on the Score (the street near the sea connecting to the West Sands (the beach on the left handside) and the Links), all churches. Buildings on the East Sands (the beach on the right handside) also have the wrong scaling. 5) The former US President Barack Obama played golf on the St Andrews Links, the oldest golf course in the world, on a very sunny day in the Summer of 2017. Under the silent witness of almost the whole town and perhaps every US students there, he finished the last hole with three attempts and won a huge round of applause.

Really cool video. I had about 100 hours in DA-40. I remember on really hot days when pulling back on the stick for the lift off, the stall horn would whistle temporarily. When pushing the prop setting all the way forward before landing, it feels like you have hit the brakes on a car and you would be thrown forward. The game also modeled the prop noise at low RPM (right before touch down) so accurately. Brings back memories.

@@oscarmorris3829 there are also people that pronounce Edinburgh as Edinburg it's not pronounced like that the gh in Edinburgh make a light H sound so its pronounced Edinbruh another common one is people pronounce the W in Glasgow making it sound like Glas-Gow it's not, It's pronounced Glas-go

Just a fun fact the hill that the castle is sitting on is an extinct volcano or whatever you call it lol
@Musketeer0094 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a volcanic plug. The volcano itself has eroded away, leaving the hardened core of the volcano on which the castle sits.

@Lawrziepan I've climbed Calton Hill a couple of times. That's where an old observatory and several monuments reside. The view from there is pretty special too.

Are you talking about the law hill?
@Musketeer0094 жыл бұрын
@@bluemeannie Hi. There's no 'Law Hill' in Edinburgh (that I'm aware of). To the south of the town there's 'Castlelaw Hill' where there is an Iron Age fort, and 'Scald Law'. Calton Hill is in Edinburgh to the north-east of Waverly Station.

great video, man. You'd be a very calming presence in the cockpit. I cannot wait for the 18th! really cool to see you switch to a 3rd person camera for sightseeing purposes. Game looks fantastic, obviously. The weather effects look really good.

The thing in Burntisland could be a poorly modeled Craig Kelly Transmitting Station. Also, could you try flying to/from IAD (Dulles)? It has a cool terminal and it would be neat to see how good the modeling is.

Leuchars is not longer an active Air Force base. It was handed over the the Army a few years ago now but the East Scotland University Air Squadron still operates out of there. It still has airforce controllers though.

This game just blows my mind every time I play. Despite being in the alpha and the preview it STILL boggles my mind. And it'll only keep getting better and better as they improve things and keep adding handcrafted assets like some unique buildings and bridges etc. This thing is just phenomenal. Really shows off what azure data streaming is capable of in games.

Glad to see my home-town of Dundee being represented, off the bat it's very accurate! Where it all began, I remember several years back when you were on the cuff about Flight-Sims (FSX in this case) and we had a chat on Skype and did a screen-shared flight together. A memorable experience that was! If you're ever up this way Paul, I think I owe you an obligatory pint!
