I've idolized the man my entire life. He's an excellent example of having the courage and strength to stand behind your own ethics and beliefs regardless of the consequences.

He was the most racist man in the Country ! And he could be as racist as he wanted to and never ANY consequences ! His own beliefs ? He stated the White man is the Devil and he is my enemy ! Look what happened to Sperling, An old man who did not say anything near as bad as Cassius did. And he is thrown out of Basketball, has to sell his team and is attacked and chastised relentlessly .

I didn't know Ali appeared in the later series. When one sees this version one sorely missed John Daly. Even the panelist seem lethargic, though it's good to see Arlene, creating some kind of continuity. The questions seemed less inquisitorial than in the Daly series. They were more like quick guesses. The old panel would have phrased questions like, "If I opened the entertainment section of the newspaper would I be likely to see your face?" or, "Would you appear on the sports pages on a newspaper?" and the like. But a lot of this is intangible, what we call "chemistry." Who knows what gave chemistry to the old show. Maybe just the team work of 4 people or at least 3 who knew each other, like the infield ballplayers know each other.

@bluebear19854 жыл бұрын
He was actually able to return to boxing fairly soon at the time, returning to the ring on October 26, 1970, his first fight in three and a half years. That night at the Atlanta Municipal Auditorium, he defeated Jerry Quarry with an RTD (corner stoppage in the third round. On December 7 of that same year, he would win the NABF heavyweight title at Madison Square Garden in New York with a fifteenth round TKO over Oscar Bonavena.

@@bluebear1985 No man it is all documented, the government kept fighting Ali and he was about to go Jail anytime after he refused. Logically if he was able to return fairly, Ali would not miss the three and half without boxing while it was his prime years. It didnt go easy on him refusing war as being Muslim & black. He was and still HERO.

WML in color and revamped format is but a shadow of the old B&W programs under the stewardship of John Daly. Muhammed Ali was a fine figure of a man in a very well-cut suit. I also consider him the greatest athlete in recorded history.

Thank you for your service sir. But I must respectfully disagree with you. Ali did not dodge the draft - he worked within the judicial system, and he was willing to go to jail for five years and pay a $10,000 fine if all his appeals failed. He said at the time he was drafted: “If I thought going to war would bring freedom and equality to 22 million of my fellow Black Americans, they wouldn’t have to draft me, I’d join tomorrow.” Did you know that when Ali won his gold medal at the 1960 Olympics, upon his return to Louisville there were restaurants that refused to serve him? Finally, my Dad, a WWIl vet and a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient, fully supported Ali’s position. Good luck to you and be well.
