Assembling a bunch of furniture into a cube is an additional task for Soupy Sales, Meredith MacRae, Robert Q. Lewis, and Arlene Francis today in addition the usual flair on What's My Line?

I’ve never seen a syndicated episode of WML? with Robert Q. Lewis on the panel. This is a great find. If you have any more episodes I’d like to see them and thanks for sharing this with us 👍

It was stated in the discussion at the end of the episode, that Robert Q. Lewis had moved to Los Angeles, California ( most likely to get acting work in movies, as Broadway was in the midst of a depression, combined with a “youth movement” taking place in the stage acting industry in the US). He may have made more appearances on the show, but not all that many more times.

The syndicated version of “What’s My Line” was clearly aimed at appealing to a younger audience. It was less formal, more casual, and faster-paced.

The original prime-time version of “What’s My Line?” debuted on CBS, at a time when only older, upper-middle class people could afford television sets. If you watch the female contestants on the episodes of the show as time passed by, you can see how women’s fashions had changed and evolved over the 17 years of the show. And the women’s fashions worn by the female contestants of the syndicated version of the show, starting in 1968, must have been a shock to the system for long-time viewers of the show. America was indeed undergoing a lot of social change when the syndicated version of “What’s My Line?” was broadcast between 1968 and 1974, and it was reflected in the clothes and hairstyles people had during this period of time.

Meredith's outfit is so trapped between the decades with the 60s miniskirt but the 70s frills! And Juliet has the same syndrome only with less frills on her blouse. Sister Hayley is one of my all-time greatest muses and Juliet is not far behind her in my adoration.

Her voice sounded like Hayley, I think I woulda guessed it. Robert Q. Lewis doesn't look well here, almost didn't recognize him.

Robert Q. Lewis, according to Wikipedia, was a long-time smoker. In the discussion at the end of this episode, it was stated that Robert Q. Lewis was living and working in Los Angeles, most likely because there was no work available for him on Broadway due to the depression in stage acting (no productions being made due to lack of funding), combined with the “youth movement” taking place in the entertainment industry. His health issues may have played a role in his decision to leave New York City. There may be a possibility that Lewis was suffering from jet lag, depending upon which part of the day this episode was taped. If the show was taped in the heat of the Summer, during a New York City “smog alert”, that would definitely affect Robert Q. Lewis’ ability to breathe, and his overall state of health on this episode of the show. Lewis worked for many years in radio. In 1972, he became a disc jockey for KFI Los Angeles, California, hosting an Oldies 1930s music program when he was not working in acting projects in Hollywood. Robert Q. Lewis died in 1991 of emphysema, at the age of 70.
