This week we talk about layout construction and different ideas on planning and building. We look at new models from Broadway limited along with a new 3 D manufacturer printing freight cars. Daniel shares some of his rail fanning videos from this week.

I agree, the roof looks over weathered on the the reefer car. Use prototype pics, they will show you the colors you need. My opinion.Thanks.

I've used pins (plain sewing pins) to hold the cork roadbed and track into place, no glue. When I ballast using scenery glue it holds the roadbed and track in place securely. When I decide to change something (it always seems to happen) I use straight 70% Isporal Alcohol to remove the scenery glue (it releases easily). I do like the idea of just laying another layer of pink foam board to start fresh with too. Thanks for the show, great tips as always.

Ken, I also use foam as a base on my layouts so what I do to hold the track down is use track nails and ballast cement that's it never had a problem with the track moving, I just stick a putty knife the track under the track and gently lift up,the foam underneath is barely damaged and a sanding block and light grit sandpaper loosens the left over ballast, spackle fills in any gouges left behind from the putty knife and the track and switches are saved and reusable.

Great show tonight! On the track... try soaking it with some alcohol (isopropyl) and then if you have a loose end run a piece of fishing line under it. Run the fishing line under the track in a sawing motion. It was great catching up with you again Daniel. I'm still amazed with that big boy you had set up on the table.

Depending on what type of glue you used. Take paper towels soak them in water and alcohol if you like lay it on your ballast and your track for about 45 minutes it will loosen the ballast in the glue it's a very good trick a friend of mine taught me this he's been doing it all his life his name is Ronn Varnell in Torrance California he has his private own layout you should you should check his KZbin Ronn Varnell good luck

70% isopropyl alcohol works good to take up track that's glued down and ballasted. I've done it many times before.

Classic Trains in Paducah has a large library of railroad books, and lots of vintage HO kits. And Fast Freight Hobbies in Paducah has more recent RTR trains. I buy my Tamiya paints there.

Nice job guys, Enjoyed seeing the feed of the trains running and the updates. And yes, scenery takes time and I think you do have to wait for the grass to grow. I spend more time waiting for things to dry than anything else. It's good to have other things to do.

Looking good Ken! I also have spent the large part of the winter working on our 26’x 26’ HO layout. Two of my sons are getting back into it big time, and it’s fun to have them around to run trains. The tough part is what to do with all of the trains that my oldest son brought home. So, the layout went from a 50’s era to a “whatever floats your boat” layout.

I've never seen the roofs of those reefers in that bad of condition, I mean they aren't pristine white, they do have some discoloration and rust, but that's just from my observations. The tank car train was loaded, you can tell a loaded car by the compression on the springs, same with an empty car.

Another great show guys! I use a 50/50 mix of white Elmer glue and water with a dab of dawn dish soap along with a spray bottle with the same mixture of isopropanol and water spray down first to glue the track down. To remove track just use the 50/50 mix of isopropanol and water with a long flexible thin saw or putty knife.

Hi, I am a 00 Scale model railway enthusiast and I love your show. i recently was in Tampa and went looking for the brightline train. i eventually found it but was not allowed to get on the platform unless I had a ticket. I resorted to making a youtube video from the area where I could see the train through the glass walls at track level. Will they make a model of this train? i have had a number of questions regarding this following my post on youtube. thanks Charlie
