What's NEW in Foundry VERSION 11 - Next Foundry version overview

Foundry VTT version 11 is out now! This means that Foundry v11 is out now for everyone and has left its testing phase. This new major version of Foundry VTT brings with it improved windows, compendium folders, and significant performance improvements among other things. Let me take you through all the major new features of version 11!

I had an entire world become basically unlaunchable. 😬Granted I was still kinda new to the platform then so I didn't understand how big the changes would be. Never again. YES!! I’ll update sometime in July or late June pending module compatibility, I use the Forge service, so I also try to monitor performance status from that angle as well. I also lost character sheet data going from 9 to 10 and it caused a lot of havoc in the campaign for players. I now have them use a journal note instead of their character sheet to capture personal notes. I had older versions backed-up but not far enough unfortunately, as I had just cleaned up older save points, so it was lost.

Great video. I was just following along until "GIF," but now I'm all in with your madness. Subscribed. I've hardly touched the surface of Foundry, and might make the switch away from a competitor. So far, I like what I see all the way up to Compendiums, where I can't figure out how to configure things to speed up loading times and get rid of bloat. Working on it though.

Thanks for the kind words! What are you trying to achieve with Compendium Packs? They are essentially mesnt to be collections of actors, scenes, items etc. that you can easily import to all your worlds

@@DiceAndEasy Well, I load the compendium in, and everything slows to a crawl for my players. What I need to figure out is how to load only the stuff players will need and only the actors my scenes need, and not *everything* which is what happens by default. Then, unload the compendiums and leave behind only what I need. Sounds easy, but hasn't proven as such.

@@georgelaiacona111 Hmmm that sounds very odd. Typically a compendium pack shouldn’t slow things down unless the imported compendium contains huge maps with many walls and lighting. What you could do is activate the relevant module, import the necessary compendium packs, and disable the module.

New to Foundry VTT and so version 11 is first real version to play with. This was helpful but would really like to see a how to import or install your adventure into Foundry. I'm sure they are out but just have not found any using version 11 yet. I'm moving from Roll20 over so bit of a learning curve on this.

Also Kakaroto hasn't released a FOundry v11 update to his R20 Converter so I can't tell how well this process works for v11.

@@DiceAndEasy I will continue to follow and see how this works. I know if I purchase an adventure in roll20, I just wait 30 sec and its available to use and everything is populated. My son also used FG and kind of the samething. You purchase the book or adventure and bam its avaiable to use. I didn't see this as an option to purchase books or adventures with Froundry VTT and that surprised me. Did I miss it?

You had me at "it's pronounced GIF. get over it". I have always agreed with this, and don't care what the creator of the extension claims about it being pronounced "JIF". It stands for "Graphics Interchange Format", and "Graphics" starts with the "Hard G Sound", therefore: it is pronounced correctly just as you stated it. =^) Plus, ya know, you make good content that is both informative and to the point. So I'd likely have subbed anyway, but the GIF thing just locked it down in an instant hahaha XD I've been a GM for ~28 years years now (since back when I was trying to explain THAC0 and my players eyes' would gloss over), and have fallen in love with running games using Foundry VTT. I find your videos to be very helpful, and enjoy that you don't drag them out. You get to the point, you make quick jokes where they fit, and you have concise summaries.
