I've sworn by foundry for years but lately, they've been causing me a lot of problems. A recent update basically now requires port forewarding (which windows REALLY doesn't like you doing) which has caused me no end of problems. Really feeling like they're getting into that habit of fixing what ain't broke and just causing problems.

FoundryVTT is definitely the way to go imo. By itself it's all the VTT I could ever ask for, but with the focusing on community plugins and modding, it's literally perfect.

My party members learnt that some of my characters may have healing abilities and I may use them on occasions but if you drop yourself for no good reason then you can forget about it. I'm talking the 8 con rogue with 14 ac who sits in melee and refuses to disengage. even my good aligned character only healed him once and then cast command to force him to leave instead, she went from her bright bardic spellcasting to her much more sinister warlock spell in 6 seconds, meanwhile all of my other characters have been like "I don't heal stupidity" or "Look I can't even get to you in a turn because I'm an archer and you're in melee for some stupid reason and I don't really want to get that close to the enemies myself, so I'll just attack instead." and my mentality was "if you're just going to make poor decisions constantly then you can roll death saves because I'm not wasting my resources on keeping you alive." (honestly somehow I'm still often the healer in the party even as a ranger with goodberry or a rogue who packed healing potions and my tendency towards neutral/meaner characters means if/when I do eventually play a cleric I'll probably be the one who's attitude is "No, obviously I didn't buy the diamonds, I'm not the one who's dead.")

Literally first thing you mentioned in settings helped me. And it even solved several lighting glitches. Thanks

I understand that you probably have a good reason for doing so… But being able to clearly see that you’re reading a script with your eyes, is the most distracting part of your videos. I appreciate the information you provide in your videos, but its hard to pay attention when you are simply reading and not genuinely speaking from the noggin.

How do you change the profile picture of a character though?

hey guys can anyone help me please. right now im using Roll20 but want to switch to foundryvtt. I use my own set of rules with self made character sheets in excel etc. Is it possible to create like an own sheet in foundry with macros in the sheet? and which system should i install then? because right now my friends have to switch between the excel and roll20 and then just roll the dice there. i tried to install for example D&D but the initiative there is rolled with d20 but in my game i use d6. so basicly what i want is to "copy" my excel into foundry and choose fields when players press on it a dice will be rolled.

I recently started playing Dnd and even more recently started learning how to use Foundry to DM for my friends. Your content has been such a lifesaver and a joy to watch. Probably unpopular opinion, but I don't like "physical dice" in VTTs. It slows the game down unnecessarily. Yeah, it might look cool the first 3 times, but there's so many things that can slow down stuff when you play online, I really don't need an additional 4-10 second wait every time one rolls...

His premium models have been on my radar for awhile now but I haven't pulled the trigger as I am trying to get away from endless amounts of subscriptions. That is largely why I moved to FoundryVTT Though he released a new puzzles module that is tempting me. I would love a deep dive video on that module specificly

I am excited to see where it goes. v12 and the DnD5e partnership. I hope they will eventually get some sort of dndbeyond native integration. maybe not the books as they would lose money on purchases but maybe my dice and characters? idk.

How do I level up my character? Manage loot? Level up & loot in Beyond and always keep re-importing? (without that Patreon payment to push from Foundry side)

Well, I’m not migrating till most of modules are updated to 12. Version update usually breaks many things that worked perfectly.

I really hope they gave Monk some love ($$$) cuz they ripped his whole thing... bar for bar lol

Updated to v12 and it immediately broke everything, which I kind of expected, but it broke even more than I was expecting. Pretty much all modules are doneskies (even the really popular ones like Levels/Monk's stuff) which... Yanno, expected. But even the core system is broken in a lot of ways: Can't place lights, can't adjust text drawings without having to restart entirely, etc. I'll probably update once the "stable" release is actually... Stable.
