Hello. Thank you for all your very informative and helpful Reaper videos. I have one problem here. I have the track on midi overdub mode and the track is armed. I press record, the song plays through but nothing gets recorded. I made sure the record mode is MIDI overdub and I changed the preference settings to MIDI overdub as well. Am I missing something? I come from Cakewalk where you can overdub as many layers on top of both audio and midi tracks by default so I might be missing something here. I'm on the latest version of reaper. Portable install. Thank you.

Hi! Thanks for all the info you share with us. If you can help me with this y would really appreciate it. I have an iPad with synth apps on it, I’m not a proficient keyboard player so I would like to take advantage of midi programming in reaper, but use the sounds of the iPad apps. My question is, is there a way to send a pre-programmed midi part to an iPad? You know, I program, quantize, arrange a midi part in reaper and then I send it to the iPad to trigger the sounds of the apps and re-record is as audio back to an audio track in reaper. Is that possible? Thank you!
@TheREAPERBlog4 жыл бұрын
I haven't done any of this but it should all be possible. you could export the MIDI as a file and import it (maybe depending on the app), or send the notes through Network OSC, or through physical MIDI connection if you have an interface for the ipad.

@Gustav Landerholm I owned one of those evil tape machines MCI console and outboard, despite the routine maintenance life was so much better and easier and the shit sounded much better . I'd go back in a heart beat, ADAT'S HDR'S and workstations have destroyed this industry and music itself! Don't like the truth? Cry me another handfull. @@Randallkoller So are you unhappy over people without thousands of dollars invested getting the ability to make music ? The barrier to entry has gone down now which is good imo. Yes you'll have a lot more mediocre artists but you will also not miss out on genuinely talented artists just because they couldn't afford all the fancy gear. Not to mention the creative freedom that the digital medium gives when you are not bound by the rules/limits of your hardware. The plugin hysteria is not welcome though , but then there are good and bad sides of all tech.

I'm waiting for the update that doesn't shove politics in my face. not sure if you have any sway, but 1 or 2 references is fine here and there, often times they were cleaver, less obvious jabs at the president. That's fine. I don't care if the creators are political, and since most of the titles aren't serious; some light satire wasn't annoying. Now I just don't plan on updating reaper, and while I haven't re-installed cubase, that reality is getting closer and closer. I pay money for a license to use music creation software, I do not pay to be e-lectured by it's creators. There will be 0 people who support BLM changing their minds based on the name of an update, and there will also be 0 peoples minds changed who don't support BLM. Duct taping those words onto something isn't a discussion, it's not informative, it's just a shitty bumpersticker that can only piss people off. The reason this matters to you, is that you put effort into bringing people into the reaper ecosystem, and that effort is being undermined. I can no longer suggest reaper to people without first vetting their politics, else they'll see the name of the version and be turned off before they can even download it. This is needless, it doesn't actually help BLM, and it wastes energy creators like you put into this platform.
