I had a 1st generation pair and for the most part, they were great. Battery life was never fantastic, and sometimes if you pushed your hair behind your ear, you hung up on the person you were talking to due to the "touch/swipe" control. Other than those minor issues, I loved them. When it came time to upgrade, the 3rd generation were released. I read the reviews and was surprised people were criticizing them. Well, after I purchased a pair I knew what people were complaining about. The number one issue is you can't respond to text messages like you were able to with the 1st and 2nd gen glasses. Why they would remove this feature is beyond me as it made it not only convenient, but a lot safer while driving. Half the time they alert you of a text but the glasses do not read you the message. This leads me to the next issue. They made the buttons "multipurpose" so, I guess, you would need fewer buttons. Well, if your iPhone's music app is open and you press the button, it resumes the music rather than playing you the text message - since the same button is also the resume button for music. Another issue is, in previous versions you would simply lay the glasses upside down on a table and the glasses would go into sleep mode. With the 3rd gen, you have to fold the arms to shut them off. Absolutely annoying. This leads me to one of the most irritating new "features"... you have to press 2 buttons at once to power them down. To get 2 fingers within a couple of millimeters then press and hold until the glasses power down is extremely annoying (2nd gen was 1 button hold). Lastly, my 2nd gen glasses had a magnetic charging wire. Besides not being able to use the glasses while charging (like if you were sitting at your computer and had access to power, but still wanted to wear the glasses to see!), the charging wire worked fine. As you can see in the video, the 3rd gen glasses have this oppressive charging stand... totally unnecessary. The real kicker is the charging stand is NOT available for purchase. What if you want a charging stand at home and one at work?... nope, you can't buy one. I will say they are more streamlined in design than my gen 2 glasses, and the battery life has increased substantially. Otherwise, they are pretty bad, sorry to say. Apologies for the lengthy review but I had to get this off my chest.
