I really enjoyed Dr Rebecca Simon when she did the Black Flag episode, she was so knowledgeable. David Rawlings brought some great energy and you could tell how much he enjoyed the synthesis of two things he loved, that being Star Wars and sword fighting. Finally, I've seen a lot from Billy Billingham, I think he has such an inspiring story and he seems a top bloke who appreciated both the realism and the shock and awe moments. And who said you can't learn anything from video games? Like myself, I think all of your fans hope, that you can keep up doing this line of work, especially with Jonathan, you two just have such a cool way of working together. Ian at Forgotten Weapons is pretty open about the struggles he has with gun content on KZbin. So I'm sure there was some of that going on too at GameSpot. But if that's all it was, then why leave all the past videos up? Plus, Dave's Expert Reacts with the psychiatrist analyzing the themes of Silent Hill 2 proved that you don't need to stick only to weaponry to attract good numbers. It's inexplicable to me, especially given his nearly decade long record of successful video making and name recognition at the company.

I have to say these videos have been a good display of a kind of fascination and intrigue and a voice that firearms content on KZbin is frequently lacking - a reasonable, respectful, self-aware interest in weapons and their use (Forgotten Weapons is a similarly good and thoughtful resource). A lot of videos, even ones produced by people that have a detailed fascination with firearms mechanics, seem to come from a perspective that fetishises firearms and the activity of shooting and revels in how badass they make them feel. It's all very overindulgent and performative and often yes unfortunately politically charged. Which makes it all the more impressive that Dave's firearms content for Gamespot was so well-grounded, as video games are often very indulgent and excessive . I don't know if that difference is due to Dave's direction or Jonathan's input, but overall they did a really great job of something that could have very easily been obnoxiously and insensitively handled, and made quite charming and intriguing content of it instead.

You put together a really great team of experts that consistently made entertaining and informative content that drew in a whole new audience to their channel. Throwing that away is just idiotic. The developing rapport over your work with Jonathan was a key part of what made it so great. With you all the way, Dave! Even though I will always be a little sad if I never get to see you and Jonathan talking about guns in games together again, you're getting my subscription. Been wanting to get into Warhammer somehow anyway... perhaps your channel will help me in that regard

I remember your dayz mod videos!! Espeically the one episode where you are fending of wild russians in the stairs of a firestation while them yelling "IM FRIENDLY, IM FRIENDLY"

I had no idea what was going on so I am thankful the algorithm didn't fail me. Another subscribe sir, I'll truly miss watching you and Jonathan with my coffee on quiet Sunday mornings.

The final Expert Reacts video has almost thrice the views as the next highest video for that week. Your position wasn't redundant. Gamespot IS redundant. Good luck in your future endeavors, Dave!

Your Royal Armouries intro is burnt into my head as well. I wish you the best going forward.

You aren't redundant, you produced, and created really genuinely interesting content as well as hosted amazing guests with great questions/pacing. I am positive you will land where you want to be, but I am happy to support you in transition. Cheers brother

I jumped on board here and followed on Twitch after hearing the news. Wanted to say again that I appreciated all the hard work everyone put into Expert Reacts and Loadout, and how I very much enjoyed those projects. Always a highlight in the week. So I'll be sticking around. As ever, wishing you the best, and hope everything ahead goes well.

Loved your work with Jonathan, and hope to see you collaborating again soon. You guys were must watch for me every week. Subscribing, and will be interested in seeing your new adventures.

Subscribed - wishing you the best as a fellow 30-something going through life changes too. Excited to see where you go, what you do, and who you connect with next!

So many people (myself included) only watched GameSpot for your content, so I cannot fathom how you of all people get made redundant. Not that I dislike the other content, it just didn't catch my eye the same way Firearms Expert Reacts and Loadout did. Also, I'm sure everyone here appreciates you said the full thing. Edit: I don't remeber his name, but the medieval armour expert was also pretty cool. I only remember him from the Warhammer videos.

I will admit, you're Experts React series was the only one I watched from Gamespot, so seeing you made redundant is disappointing, because I looked forward to Saturdays because of it. However, now that i know you will be over here now, have earned you a new subscriber. Godspeed, good sir.

I mean. I never watched anything on Gamespot other than Loadout and Experts React and anything you made with Jonathan, and the numbers dont lie. Gamespot rarely get any views unless you or Jonathan were involved lol

Wish you all the best. Loved the Expert reacts series. I am still holding out for hope to see Toby react and breakdown the Space Marine Armouring sequence and to hear his inputs and breakdowns.

You were literally the only person whose content i went to actively look for in gamespots channel (without subscribing because rest was icky). All the best to you dude, will be cheering you on and following whatever you'll end up doing!

Dave, I saw this on LinkedIn first of all where Paul (Fam), who is one of my closest friends in life, commented on your post. Absolutely shocked me that you were made redundant. I feel where you are as well because i have also made redundant in my current role. Absolutely is beggars belief that you, of all people, were made redundant considering the popularity of those videos, and honestly they were the only gamespot videos i watched. Subbed to here and i look forward to seeing what comes next for you

Whatever you choose to do I will be right here waiting to watch. I very much enjoy your on screen presence and given that your interests and style of content are absolutely right up my alley I am eager to see what comes next. Best of luck.

I loved the content you were involved in at gamespot, I cant say I watched any other video from GS aside from yours. They made subscribing to Gamestop redundant for me. I hope whatever your future has in store, its a fun ride and you prosper.

Dave and Jonathan Co-op Gaming would be a banger if you could make that happen. Wild thought that's unlikely but hey, a man can dream. Just glad you guys are still around in the YT/Twitch spaces

Hey Dave. Sorry for the wall of text (I love writing). I, like many here discovered you through the experts react series, and though most might say Jonathan stole the spotlight there, I personally really enjoyed what you brought to the table as both the gaming veteran (Jonathan's no slouch himself), and also the bridge between the two worlds and more importantly, the host of such a great series. I really loved how much more hands on you were able to be with Loadout especially. Now, I'm going to say something that I can't help but imagine many of us are thinking. To be made redundant after nearly 10 years, numerous successful company projects, and in particular; a wildly successful series that in no small way, gave your company a big boost in viewership; is not only ludicrous, but rather mean spirited. Obviously we don't know all the details, and likely never will. That's between you and your former employers. I just want you to know that this is a massive loss for them and one I don't doubt they will feel in due time. Am I going to swear off watching Gamespot now? Look, probably not, I still greatly enjoy Kurt, Lucy and Tam's content. But much like Tango Gameworks, I won't be quick to forget what happened here. Anyway, of course I'm subscribing here hahaha

I can't speak to Gamespot, but I visited the Royal Armouries Museum (that houses a yes yes, on we go) last weekend. I spent about 4 hours in there total, across a day. It being free entry helped as we could take a break for lunch then return. The collection was dense and fascinating, though I wish there had been more modern equipment on display - the most up-to-date displays were WWII. Loved it, thank you for exposing me to the museum/experts in house, good luck going forward.

How do they make you redundant when your Expert Reacts and Loadout series were the only things on that channel I consistently watched?! Now GameSpot is dead to me.

In part because I enjoyed so many hours of your Gamespot content so thanks for all of that but also because you seem like a good egg. Absolutely insane they would let you go, your stuff is the only thing I think I ever watched on their channel. Wanted to stop by and give this a boost in views and comments, and say your stuff is amazing. I totally understand why you want to grow your identity and "brand" if we call it that and reach out to new places, but I do think given that I think most people know you for expert reacts stuff that it would be a good place to start your new solo stuff off by finding a way to do stuff similar to it even if it needs to be in a smaller form.
