What's next after Jags, city announce stadium cost proposal

The Jaguars and the city of Jacksonville finally announced last night their proposal for how the costs of the team's $1.25 billion “Stadium of the Future” renovation project will be split: 50-50. If a deal is signed, the city will also pay $150 million in maintenance and upkeep, bringing Jacksonville's total to $775 million in tax dollars to renovate EverBank Stadium.

@@TuckTheFitans386 the Jags generate a very high threshold dollar amount of money for the Jax area. Duval county would be belly up financially if the Jags left Jax

@@shac9131 well it is an insane amount of money but there are more events at the the stadium than the Jags' home games. We have the Gator Bowl here every and would probably stay in Jax regardless if the deal is done or not, but if the deal does get approved by the other NFL owners, Jax will probably lock down the Florida-Georgia game long term. And the Monster Jam that is here every year is also at the Jags' stadium. I really think Deegan wants to get the deal done because she doesn't want to be the mayor that sees the Jags leave to another city.

Rory Diamond is happy to spend taxpayer dollars so long as those public funds do not go to help economic disadvantaged areas of Jacksonville.

A 1.2 billion dollar renovation you could of built a brand new stadium from the ground up for basically that cost
