Let me begin by saying, I love WT101 because it is the bourbon that started me on my whiskey journey. When I bought Longbranch, I was sorely disappointed by the thin nose and palate, and expressed my displeasure on many occasions. Fast forward 2 years, and I have a much different appreciation for Longbranch. Easy sipping is an understatement, like Gentleman Jack and Basil Hayden. I get it now. It is an 8 yr old whiskey for inexperienced friends who want to try a whiskey. Good Job, McConaughey.

Your comments on this bourbon are spot on. I’m impressed with your nose and palette. Your notice of a “sweet tea” is exactly the best description of this bourbon. I think Matthews take on bourbon is on the lighter side and the collaboration between the difference between 101 and Longbranch is a new beginning for Wild Turkey. One I look forward to. Tried this for the first time 4 nights ago. Based on reviews I had seen I wasn’t expecting much but I loved it. Just for context I’ve been drinking bourbon for a long time and usually like my proof point to be from 90 to 107.

Just opened my first Longbranch tonight and I REALLY like it. Almost embarrassed to say this, but this is my first Wild Turkey product. Spicy sweet upfront with a soft finish with lasting caramel. Just a little smoke and char in the background. I like my bourbons and whiskeys under 100 proof and I sip Irish whiskey more than anything else. Longbranch may be my new favorite when I'm out grilling. Pick this up on sale for $29.99. Love your channel!

I bought Longbranch for friends of mine that bought a new home called Wild Turkey Ridge. I liked the bottle and was going for the presentation. After reading reviews and trying it, I got curious and went out and bought Larceny, and then Early Times BIB. That how it started.....

I love this stuff. Although I’ll admit for the extra $10, Rare Breed destroys Longbranch in complexity, Longbranch has a laid back taste that I just love. If I want something easy to drink and relax while watching a movie or show this one hits the spot. Also great to share with novice drinkers and friends

This might be the only time I can think of where I really *did* purchase something largely because of the celebrity collaboration (something that I virtually never do with anything else). McConaughey seems like a genuinely good dude and you just know he really did put work into this--regardless of whether the ultimate result is your preferred cup of tea. And as you said, probably the biggest win is for Wild Turkey itself in terms of being an entry way into their other bourbons (although I may regret that once Rare Breed becomes harder and harder to find lol).

Thanks again for your recommendation of this Jason C. I'm by no means a heavy drinker, but the flavor profile is so pleasantly sweet and easy that i can easily find myself going through a bottle very quickly, if I'm not careful. I also love the nutmeg flavor at the finish.

In my area Rare Breed is $50-55 and Longbranch is uppers $30s. I enjoy both at those price points. Rare Breed at $40 would be niiiice.

I really enjoy Longbranch. It’s not gonna blow you away but it’s a good quality easy sipping bourbon that had a lot of flavor. It’s probably the best bottle design on the shelf today too. I think it’s a great introduction to bourbon. I recommend it all the time to new bourbon drinkers. It’s a solid addition to the Wild Turkey portfolio.

Thanks for the review. I have not tried it yet mainly due to the price. I always viewed it as Wild Turkeys version of Gentleman Jack. As a side note, I would love to try GJ at between 100-110 proof. I think that would be very good given how easy GJ is to drink. Sounds like I would think the same about Longbranch.

What I like about this one is that it's just a wee bit different from the 101 and the Rare Breed, which I absolutely love. But it still has enough going on on a more mellow basis to be thoroughly enjoyable. Cheers Jason.

Longbranch is great. Probably one of my favorite lower proof whiskies. Also i believe the $40 is correct from a marketing standpoint. A lot of money was spent to get this whiskey out in the market plus it needs to a slightly premium price to bare Mr. McConaughey's name so it makes sense to me as to why it is that price. I dont want to make it budget otherwise it seems gimmicky. Either way as a fellow Texan he did a great job. Cheers.

I do enjoy Longbranch more than I thought. Love the sweet tea note. The 40 dollar price point for a seasoned bourbon drinker at 86 proof can be tricky. I do understand having Mconaghy craft it and have his name on it make it a bit more expensive. Would like to see this at 30 rather than 40 but it is 8 years old. Sometimes proof isnt everything. I have had this one a cpl times, I enjoy it. Like some of the other comments I too enjoy something a little higher proof and would buy RB, but this is definitely a easy sipper I think! B good for someone just getting into bourbon I think! Great video!!

I got a bottle of it for 35$ at Total Wine which is not terribly overpriced. It is perfect for someone like me who is not used to stronger spirits. WT 101 is too strong for me at 50% abv comparing to this one being 43%

Actually last summer I had given Longbranch to two people that really were not bourbon drinkers. And they both asked for seconds and wanted to look at the bottle. I know the one did buy a bottle of Longbranch for themself.

Nice video! I agree on the sweet tea kind of note. I tend to keep it on the shelf as well, and I totally agree it's great for friends who are just dipping their toes into whiskey.This one is definitely a pleasant sipper neat. It's also really nice in cocktails - I like it in lemonade in summer time. It probably makes a good Old Fashioned as well.

I had my first trip to the bourbon trail the week Longbranch was released. I picked up a bottle at the distillery and it’s still my favorite go to. Some people argue that it’s not technically bourbon because it’s “refined” or filtered. What’s your opinion? Great video!

It's a bourbon. If you can finish a bourbon in Sherry, rum, wine etc ..than you can filter. Heaven Hill is charcoal filtered and it's a bourbon so no problem to me! As long as it tastes good! Cheers.

Like you said, not bad for an intro bourbon, but for me, too sweet. For the money, Rare Breed is more complex, and Knob Creek has a fuller body and profile, without the extrovert sweetness. Still, not a bad choice, but not a $40+ choice.

Longbranch is like driving a Lincoln...its nice, but it aint the best..i cant stand mccaugney or however you spell it, but bought it cause its rare to have charcoal filtered bourbon...peg leg porker is leagues above this stuff, and carey bringel is an all american bourbon hero in my eyes, bet he would knock matthew out in one punch

Bought this in Nov of 2021 and it tasted nothing like what the video describes. It was awful and I used it as a mixer. On the nose my bottle had a strong acetone aroma and little else came through. The pallet was thin and simple. Maybe I got a bad bottle.

Clearly wild Turkey doesn't understand marketing. They need to produce exactly eight bottles of each product they make. The label has to say "small batch, single barrel, single stave, single grain of rye, ultra rare, extinct corn species"- only obtainable by petitioning congress. Making your whisky available to consumers is so 1995.
