Mike Tyson brought me here,didn't even know there was such a thing as pigeon racing

I had a racing pigeon land in my yard way out in the country and he lived with me for two weeks, the most beautiful and intelligent bird, he would show off his speed skills to me , I had a little roosting nest for him where he slept every night and he would walk around all day. I think he just wanted to chill and not race anymore. Unfortunately I found his feathers one morning and he was gone. Either a snake or coyote got him. Still miss him. RIP Randy

I am a grandmother and I live in the USA and I raise white king pigeons, but I don’t follow that sport. My 6 pigeons are spoiled and have the best living accommodations and food and I just enjoy them every day. They are calm, social, intelligent and beautiful creatures that enjoy their home with me.❤️❤️🕊🕊🕊

I read a pigeon that was sold for over 1 million € from the Drudge Report, then I came here. I went to Belgium twice people are friendly there, where the sport originated but had never heard about the sport before. I will look at pigeons in a different way now. Thank you for the video.

There is a racing pigeon staying at my home right now. We've being trying to feed the bird and leave water for it. Contacted the owner and it's from Canada. Owner said it's probably resting. It's beautiful! It's been there for days. How long do they rest? Not sure if it will win any race lol

When I was 13 my father took me dove hunting. A dove came flying over at lightning speed and I took aim and lead him a bit, pulled the trigger and got him. Walked over and realized it was a pigeon with a band around its leg. I sure hope I didn't execute someone's 6 figure bird. Edit: Creepy animal lovers in the comments below. I grew up on a farm and respect animals. We hunted to fill the freezer and feed the family. It was not for sport. I was a young boy when this incident occurred and made a mistake. These people replying are absolutely nuts.

My grampa and his brothers used to race them from Tennessee back to Cleveland Ohio. It is amazing they can fly right back to a loft on top of a garage in the middle of Cleveland, always found their way home. Kind of crazy. They raced greyhounds too. My uncle at the track, my Gramp liked the woods where they treed raccoons. Some old school stuff. Guess before internet people just raced stuff? 😅😂

I'm here because I picked up an injured racing pigeon when out on a walk today. The owner explained it was a racing pigeon when he came to pick it up. I had no idea but a pigeon that looked like that just doesn't exist in our area, so it really stuck out. Plus it wasn't flying away from us.

Angel moreno I imagine you have already sorted this situation but in case anyone else was wondering. If you find an injured bird it is best to contact a local wildlife rehabilitation center ideally one for birds specifically. They will care for it and will be able to contact the owner if it happens to be a pet. Place injured birds in a dark quiet place and cover them with a towel when picking them up to avoid stress and confusion.

Tbh European pigeon racing is very cruel because the live up to 3-5 years old because if the bird doesn't preform it gets killed😅😢 but here in south Africa they live up to 15 - 30 years because we don't just care for them we love our pigeons ❤😊

Fascinating... Ha, I adopted a juvenile pigeon I found who’s parents will get shot as pests, and I was not aware how intelligent and beautiful these animals are. With all the stigma, they looks like cockroaches sometimes but that’s not fair to them, they’re brilliant.
