That adhesive did not bond the layers very well, it peeled away with little or no effort. Almost as if it was applied and had time to dry before the next layer of foam or micro coils was added. No surprise that things shifted so badly.

Another random viewer here, but fascinating to watch! Thanks a bunch guys! I bought a beautyrest black mattress a couple years ago and it's gotten significant dips in it already. I can see from your video and others where and how it is likely going bad. I also started watching these DIY videos for repairing my own mattress and am determined this is the last mattress I will buy. The coils do look good and a decent base to keep building on -- we will see! So far it looks like I might need to plunk down approx $500 (queen size) for a new cover and latex layer on top of the coils, which seems to me like a worthy gamble. It's just too bad my original cover didn't already have a zipper, but I could imagine how much cost it would add, given how they were already skimping so much on the glue!!! Also likely they didn't want me peeking inside and maybe getting tempted to replace a layer or two LOL.

Oh god, now I'm scared. Literally just purchased the C-Class Medium Firm/Lux Firm mattress... then I find this video :D I didn't see the K-Class model at our retailer, only the C-Class. And this mattress appears to be the Plush version. I'm a back sleeper, so I was leaning into a firm mattress. My wife preferred not to go with a firm as she sleeps on her side, so we went the middle version which is supposed to be rated for both back and side sleepers; named Luxury Firm at the retailer we have here in Canada, or Medium Pillow Top when looking at the US website. The margins can't be that thin as we got a $4k+ mattress for more less than half the price during Boxing Day promotions. Time will tell I guess, and hopefully the construction is better than the one in the video. Thanks for these types of reviews, it's pretty cool to see the guts of what we sleep on these days.

Hey @roryfeeney6972, that suck ... so the jury is still out as we've had the mattress for only 2 weeks, and it's on the floor while we wait for the new bed it will be set up on. Our mattress, even though a medium firm, it still has a pillow top to it. The pillow top is definitely remembering my sleeping form. I'm tempted to go back to the store to lay on the firm again as I thought it was still soft. The problem now is if we swap the mattress now, it will cost us an additional amount as the sale is over. So we're going to give it a good couple months before that decision has to be made. We're still struggling with sheets too. But otherwise the construction is holding up, unlike the one in this video.

I had one of these. It began to sag in about 8 months. One of the things they told me that it had a better warranty so less sagging allowed. They were right and warrantied it without a problem. But the next one lasted just over a year. Same problem. For that price I was not going to just live with it. The store did warranty again but only gave me in store credit. I bought my 1st memory foam but a different brand. The store sold many brands. But I had to use up the rest of the store credit to buy pillows and sheets etc. In one way it sucked buying overpriced extras but in another way I was able to use the beds for almost 2 years without paying for it ( sort of ). Memory foam was great no problems lasted till I sold it because I was moving to another state. Bought another memory foam and am still happy. At least the store took care of me with the credit instead of nothing or too bad. I know we should not have to feel a person got lucky, but it seems like greed has made manufacturers that way now.

I purchased a Beautyrest back in 2019 that was just below the Black series. It lasted less than 18 months before it completely sagged and springs could be felt. Then the utter BS of the Beautyrest warranty came into play. Because I got the mattress on sale, the Beautyreast warranty didn't replace with a comparable mattress, but one of similar price to the discounted price. The replacement is utter garbage. Basically while shopping for a new mattress I have the mantra of NO Simmons, Serta, Beautyrest or Tuft & Needle.

I found if the linen, like fitted sheets & protector, are too tight, that causes issues, too many layers over a crafted mattress & you lose the benefit of all that design. I have just discovered too, that if the pillows are laid flat rather than on their sides to support the spine when trying to sleep 'sitting up' makes a surprising difference. I have had the new mattress for less than a year, and it already has a one and a half inch sag, and my back is starting to hurt again. I have a top quality solid foundation, so that is not the issue. So in my experience, it looks like the life of latex is one to two years, and quality Talalay latex is very expensive. Also, in my experience the latex has a very dense, rubbery feel even in the plush layers that I did not find comfortable, and often woke up with pain in my hip and shoulder even with their plushest firmness level mattress. Black Stripe = L- Class, Red Stripe = C- Class, Gold Stripe = K Class. K Class being the 'best' with those little coils layer like we saw in the video. Most retailers as far back as my youth, the 60's, had a phrase for an Items markup called keystone. Keystone was basically known as 100% markup. If you bought an item for a dollar, you sold it for $2.00. That gave you enough profit to pay your overhead and a decent month to month net profit of about 15%. Inexpensive items with a small turnover had a larger markup that helped the bottom line. If you read my other post on here you'll see how that changes depending on the industry.

Don’t get me wrong manufactures make profit when times are good When times are bad we keep our skilled labor, workforce employed, turning goods until the profit structure improves. Word to the wise - If you want to spend upwards of $3000 on a mattress, get a natural latex one. Will last thirty years and won't sag or offgas like these will. Going on 6+ years with our latex Cali King now and it's been AMAZING the whole time. No divots, nothing.

@@stonefeathers agreed! But you do have to love the feel of latex, some people feel it pushes back too much. I used to have a beautiful latex, the. Had shoulder surgery and it was too firm after that and finally understood what people Meant with latex not having as much of a transition give as other types of builds. But you are right, definitely get great value for a latex bed.

We had one of those, had to toss it away as it sagged so bad we had back troubles. Tried to complain where we purchased it, then the factory, but we were ignored. Save your money, buy a cheaper mattress and with the money you saved, replace it when required with a new one. The mattress manufacturing communities warranties' are worthless.

Ok so we have two of your natural latex mattresses that we love. We bought them when we were living in Ventura and then we moved to Santa Barbara with them and after at least seven, and maybe more, years they are still the most comfortable mattresses we have ever owned. What we would like to do now is put them on an adjustable bed frame. So is that possible and do you guys carry an adjustable frame that would work with our mattress?

Unless it’s sewn with gold thread…no mattress is worth that much. The only reason mattresses are so expensive is because people rarely buy the. The markup is ridiculous and the only people who benefit from this price is the seller. Cosmic rip off!

I went ahead and gave you a thumbs up because it was just fun to see the bed cut open. lol... Buuuuuuuut I was very close to thumbs down because it seems that you guyz were not prepared and did zero research on the bed. Buuuuuuuut also because y'all are likeable and seem like y'all are hardworking folk, I will offer my opinion on what you saw. I am overweight and I own a Beautyrest Black C and of course I dropped 5 grand on it. I did my share of research and watched my share of KZbin videos. There are more than enough videos that explain those different layers of foam that you were looking at. By now, you should be wondering.... why did he mention his weight? What does that have to do with anything? Easy.... One of the very informative videos that I watched provided feedback that if you are overweight then the Beautyrest Black bed is not likely a good bed for you. I do not know the story of the people that you received the bed from and I could be completely wrong. Buuuuuut I would not be surprised if they were both overweight and in addition they had a platform bed where they primarily raised their heads and likely to extreme heights. The problem with today's mattresses seems to be the horrible dip that happens in the center of the bed. Soooooo.... add on the extra foam, put two overweight people on that bed not designed to handle overweight people and then lift their heads.... What do you get? You get what you see at the beginning of the video.... You get a massive dip in the center. You get the top layers of foam detaching and sliding down. You get crushed edges for the most part. And if you noticed.... The actual spring coils section was pretty much intact and even flat with signs of little to no wear and tear. Sooooooo.... the bed was likely well manufactured and put together, but it was not designed to handle two overweight people at elevated heights with all that extra foam padding at the top which as you saw detached from the weight bearing down and pushing it south. The K class has the most foam at the top. I have the C class with less foam and then the bass is L class. But I think they just changed how they describe their model numbers. Point of the story.... You guyz could have done some research instead of bad mouthing the brand without understanding what you were looking at. The good news is that the other guy realized that the bed was a good bed and his experience told him after looking at the main coils that it was simply too much foam at the top. Unfortunately, neither of you made the connection of why a bed after a year and some change would need to be thrown out. That's fine as my thought is that primarily other overweight Beautyrest Black owners would likely be the only ones who can see all of the problems. I still love my bed and I have opted to just lose some weight. But even if I destroy it before then, I am okay with dropping another 5k for another one. Buuuuuuuuut what does that have to do with you? As that is all most people really care about. lol.... Since you are in the bed business, I would recommend that even if you do not like all the foam because of the pressure point technology, I would recommend that you at least focus on making a bed that can specifically accommodate us overweight people! I found a company about 2 months after I had bought my bed. If I would have known about them and even with them being a smaller company, I would have gave them a shot. This is the reason that it is easy to drop 5 grand at a big company that is known for making beds because we/consumers have other things to do than to spend 9 months trying out beds. The only other thing that I would add.... You should also consider pushing the industry for a God-size bed meaning the next size above a King. The Sleep Number people used to make a grande king. That would be great in this era! I would so buy one of those as I tend to be a minimalist so there is not much furniture in my bedroom and my bedroom can easily accommodate a much larger bed and not only that...... for a person that is not over 6 feet, a traditional king is really just not enough bed. So... I hope you receive my criticism with good cheer. To be specific of what that criticism is so you do not have to guess. Please do some research before you criticize a bed. You guyz seem like you have alot of experience and you blew an easy opportunity to share that experience. The video could have been so much more than just criticizing obvious things that Beautyrest owners likely already knew about and you could have been focusing on alternatives and how the product could have been improved. Even better, you would have been able to go into more details about how you could have offerred a better product. I am not necessarily saying offer free consulting to Beauty or even to describe how you would change the material. I am simply describing how you could have been discussing your value adds and not just coming across as petty or band brashing. For the record... I do not work for Beauty before you think that I am simply defending their product. Although I am not sensitive about my ego, but you guyz being petty could easily be taken as you calling the consumers who bought Beauty stupid meaning the comment of if you drop 5 grand on a bed, it should be A rated in all categories. That might be true, but what do we know? We are just stupid consumers. So how about educate us instead of calling us stupid and that type of consultative sales approach where you focus on how you add value is a much easier way to gain customers. Just saying.... In either case.... Good luck and hope you received my feedback in good cheer. These days I am not looking for a fight and I am far from an internet gangster. I am just a guy who watched a cool video about a bed and saw some hardworking folk who do not realize how they were pushing their branding in the wrong direction.😇

@@mnash3 wow thanks for taking the time to write all this. Your theory is a good one but not that accurate the person who owned this wasn’t that big of a person And only one person slept on it and it wasn’t on adjustable platform, everz Additionally no where in beauty rest’s advertising for this do they warn big people to not purchase this bed for all the good reasons you mentioned. We on purpose don’t research the bed beforehand besides price and what’s supposed to be in it because that’s what the exact point of the video is, a kind of in the moment reveal. We open up other beauty rests on this channel and don’t believe we bad mouth the company whatsoever. We don’t believe we bad mouth the brand here either, just the poorly made bed seen here. We aren’t that concerned about consumers who bought this bed but who are in the process of buying a new bed. Sorry it was upsetting it seemed like we were bad mouthing the brand. But I believe this is the first comment that believes we did on this video. Thank you for watching. Wondering what you think of our other videos. You are right we do work hard and we try to be as helpful to the consumer as possible. At the end of the day this bed has too many layers of foam, and was poorly put together. We don’t believe all of beauty rests are like this. But when you make beds like beauty rest on a manufacturing line, this is the risk you take, low quality assurance. We actually have another beauty rest opening video coming out that we shot recently and you’ll see it’s a great bed. It’s nkt a beauty rest black. We work hard and do our best to provide a non bias opinion on the build of the bed as we see it. This particular beauty rest, in our opinion was poorly made as you can see to the poor glue job, low quality glue as one piece of evidence. The coils are high quality and are still in good shape but the bed didn’t make transport in our opinion and that’s why this bed didn’t last.

@@spencersmattress - Fair enough. Thank you for your kind and prompt response. I do appreciate you taking the time and sharing the logic in the video's presentation and the logic behind your criticism. Normally, I am pretty good about minding my business, but your comments were concerning so I wanted to present a different perspective and experience and even a different scenario on what could I have caused that particular bed's problem. It was nice that you knew the bed's owner's history as that would have been nice to present so I could have had some context when watching the video. I likely would have drawn the same conclusion, meaning large assembly line, low quality assurance, and this particular bed slipped through and was simply poorly constructed. As for Beauty putting it in their advertising about not being a bed for us big people.... The video that I watched was not from Beauty. It was on KZbin from when I was doing my original research to select a bed and I came across that feedback. It was subtle meaning the video did not harp on it or make a big deal about it. They just said it as part of the flow of the video. For the most part, I would not recommend the Beauty to someone extremely overweight, but that is only from my personal experience. I almost did not get the bed myself, but I had just returned a bed that was not a good fit and still needed a bed. The Beauty was the closest to my old mattress in my opinion. An even longer story.... In either case... I think you and I are good.... I was not trying to pick a fight and like I said.... I do not work for Beauty so I was not trying to defend them or even defend my particular purchase. The bed grew on me! It was a bit of a fight in the beginning and I almost returned it, but I am happy that I kept it. lol.... In either case.... It is great to hear that you make beds for us big people. I wish I would have learned about y'all a while back as I would have likely gave you a shot at earning my business. But its okay... Thanks again for sharing your experience and providing clarification. Have a wonderful day.

"Spencer's Ventura Mattress", is a mattress manufacturer. I'm currently shopping for a new mattress, and have been doing a LOT of reading and video watching, as well as testing mattresses that I can personally test in my local area. So, based on this video, I should call you guys to make me a mattress? I went to your website, and there is nearly no information about how your mattresses are made. There is some information about some of the layers you use, such as latex, but little else. Not listing any pricing on your site is not appealing for shopper, such as I am. Even a range of pricing, with information about options, would give me much needed information about your beds and prices. Showing me the inner layers, and problems, of a competitor's mattres, doesn't sell me.

Mattresses have been trash ever since they went to a single pillow top design. You can't flip the mattress to keep the bed even and prevent indents in the support. The people that sold us a set claimed that these were the new design and that the bedding no longer needed to be flipped, what a scam. Apparently hotel chains are the only ones who can get double pillow tops now
