No mention of the incredible sound track? The music in this game still sounds amazing when on the original hardware. Uematso was a genius.

The fact that you did a video titled "What's so great about FF6" and didn't mention the absolute GOATed music is an absolute oversight.

I could not agree more. I think they are still the standards of what epic RPG games are or should be. The most epic thing for me is being there when they were released.

I dunno I think nostalgia is too strong for some people. Chrono Trigger and FF6 are amazing games but regarding either as the best RPG ever made like some people do is a big stretch for me.

Love this game. I wish the "2d HD" thing companies are doing didn't do all the weird lighting stuff that couldn't have happened back then. I just want a high budgeted 2d pixel game without the limits of the systems save space but I still want to be ableto believe it could have been on the snes

FF7 was the game in school that at least made the FF series a little more mainstream. So mainstream in fact that instead of saying the FF series sucked, the stupid jocks and normies in my school would say things like "FF7 is the only good one" or "those old FF games sucked and are for nerds." Yeah...whatever. To this day I believe the FF series was better before FF7 and I also believe that some titles after are superior like FF9, 10, and 12. But I'm in the minority. So sadly my opinion doesn't mean anything because the corporate clowns at Square only look at dollars and sales figures.
@njp43212 жыл бұрын
We may be in the minority, but you are definitely not alone in feeling that way about the trajectory of the series.

I am definitely of a similar opinion. While I may not like 10 or 12, I very much enjoyed 1-6 and 9 _way_ more than 7 or 8. FF8 in particular, in my opinion, was just straight-up trash.

I’ve tried and tried to like FF7 and failed every time. I’m just not a fan. To me it abandons everything that made me fall in love with 4,5, and 6. It doesn’t even feel like the same series
@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 Жыл бұрын
I'm even weirder, my three favorites in the first 10 of the series are actually FF4, FF10, and FF1. The biggest reason is each party member has a unique role that they fulfill in the party and don't just become masters of all trades by the end of the game. In FF1 it's completely set in stone with forming your initial party. With FF4 they hit the perfect sweet spot with each character having their own unique classes and at least one unique ability (Rydia Summon, Rosa Pray, Cecil Cover, Edge Throw, Kain Jump, etc.). FF10 can eventually become less role restrictive thanks to the sphere grid system but usually you have designated roles for each character through most of the initial playthrough. In a similar vein it's why I love FF6 up until Zozo and you get your first Espers. Because the leveling system is tied to "junctioning" Espers and managing magic points to learn spells I feel the game devolves into the aformentioned "everyone is a master by the end of the game" syndrome. It's completely possible with enough MP items to just have 12 magic users spamming Ultima through Kefka's tower and call it a day. The fun of FF6 for me was Cyan's Sword Tech, Sabin's Blitz, Edgar's Tools, and Tara and Celes being the only magic users at first, it made the idea that magic was this rare gift such a better narrative driver than "oops, nvm, magicite lets everyone cast magic pew pew, have fun!". That said I adored the Brave New World mod for FF6 because of how they changed magic and espers with only certain espers being able to be used by certain characters reinforcing roles.
@GoeTeeks9 ай бұрын
@@thisismyyoutubecommentacco6302 If I were to change one thing about FFVI, it would be that Espers would only have so much of a spell they could teach (Example: Suppose Ramuh only had 200 MP to distribute with Thundara. After that he can't teach it to anyone anymore). Once an Esper taught all of its available magic, it would turn into some type of item (a relic or unique piece of equipment) that could be equipped.

To this day, this is the only Final Fantasy game I've finished (REALLY have been meaning to get around to Final Fantasy VII, honest), and it's incredible in every way. Definitely among the best RPGs the SNES has to offer, as well as the best games the SNES has to offer in general. Kefka is still among my favorite video game villains as well, and Nonuo Uematsu really outdid himself with the soundtrack, even moreso than FFVII (yeah, I said it)! Now where's this game's HD "remake"? :P

Secret of Mana
@williambaldwin9346 Жыл бұрын
I wonder sometimes how it would be if it was designed and made as a day one release game for the first Sony Playstation. FF 6 came out in 1994, so what if it was made to come out just one year later. Update the graphics, NOT to 3D/ FF 7's style, but more the 2.5D it has, but make the characters a bit larger and much more detail. Give more back story to everyone, maybe even some new secret dungens. What about more story chices? Such as a legit way to save the World of Balance, through a fork in the story. One leads to the events of the WOR that it had, the other saves the world and goes in a whole new story arc. Perhaps Kefka instead of the Emperor is killed on the floating contenent and he "lands" it back where it was and escapes to go on to do another plan...
@GoeTeeks9 ай бұрын
Um, have you seen the Steam/Mobile version of this game? Bigger sprites, a bit more 2.5D, more detail, added dungeons... Everything but the branching path of saving the world (which would ruin the theme completely).

It is hard to argue this, objectively. Though many might decry Tidus as an annoying, whiney protagonist. "Poor" voice acting. That one "annoying" cut-scene. Others may point to FF 7, 6, or 4.
