Spiritual Unfoldment with John Butler

Spiritual Unfoldment with John Butler

Күн бұрын

One viewer asks a 'cheeky' question: "What's so great about Stillness?" By simply demonstrating it, John suggests we ask ourselves if and where it ends. Our body ends - each day will end, but the still, silent presence in which it all takes place connects with endlessness ...

John, I believe this was among your best videos ever. I shall be returning to it over and over for the reinforcement needed to stay on the path to stillness and silence. If you can more deeply define the “be whole, make whole” concept in a subsequent video, I am sure many of us would be most grateful. Be well!

As for gratitude. it is like a spiritual practice, - when you affirm that you are grateful for something or things, it makes you feel more contented. You have to try it out, not just think about it.

John you're an inspiring energy and an untainted source of divinity in a world fast losing its facet of realism instead becoming a facade by day & a gimmick by night. I hold onto all your power of wisdom as if it was the last instrument dangling between a cliff edge and inevitable death below into a dark abyss. You're a beacon of enlightenment and your words and how you deliver them have come to instil a sense of hope and meaning to what I started losing faith and hope in a long time ago. The point of existence & its meaning doesnt need to be apprehended it just needs to be experienced in the now. I thank you. The most humble of men I could ever wish to meet or see on the other end of a screen. May god be good to you eternally. 🙏

So very grateful for this channel.its feels as though my rage is turning to pity,my pity to understanding and my understanding to love. I have practiced moments of stillness and it has been very helpful and a heart warming experience as the stillness faded. I had a wonderful happy memory of my childhood that has been locked away for many years, blanketed by "buts" and "what abouts"just by being in the now and still for a brief moment. All my love. I am fortunate that over the years I've learned to find God in the silence. Although as soon as I return to the hustle and bustle of life I fall from the heavens - almost like I was never there in the first place. Having said that, I can't stay in the presence of God (or whatever you call him/her) for very long. I do spend most of my time preoccupied with thoughts of how wonderful God's presence is and how wretched I am most of the time. Some day I will return to the dust and my spirit will go home.

i've been subscribed to your channel for a while now, a couple of months. but this was the first video i actually clicked on. i'm not sure why, i just knew that i wanted your wisdom, your experience, but i wasn't ready to.. well. to be still, haha. but life has been telling me to rest, in subtle and not so subtle ways, all week. so when this video came out i felt like i should listen to spirit and see what you had to say. i enjoyed this perspective, this sharing, and i enjoyed the stillness of you as you spoke. i enjoyed the sounds of the birds and wind and leaves behind you. i will try to start watching your videos more now, as i know it will benefit me. i've only just returned to my meditation habit in earnest this week, after halfway trying to get back into it over the last month or so. i know that as i get more able to be still, i will have more room for what truly matters. and less chatter, both inside and outside of the self. thank you. i hope you have a lovely day.

Your true reality, as well as everyone else's, is Stillness. He means in Stillness, there are no questions. I remember his words daily and they remind me to put feet on ground and listen and be still, and it works. I have been going through so much and without the shared wisdom from people like John I may not even be here anymore. Thankyou. Grateful is for what is but contentment is ever growing as you acquire more things to be grateful for. So since you have learned to be grateful, acquiring more things is okay if it makes you happy. What happens is that your contentment and gratitude will become one as your soul becomes satisfied with the things you acquire...until you no longer desire to prove what is

Stillness and quiet are so important to one's health. I remember as a youth the pastor at my church encouraging the congregation to find time each day to spend a period of time in quiet reflection. He often spoke about the benefits of quiet introspection believing that it was vital for one's spiritual health. To this day I find a time to spend alone. We are inundated with so much loud and often obnoxious influences. Thanks John and Phil. Have a blessed week.

Since march, there has not been a waking moment without my children. There is one awake when I wake. There is one awake when I sleep. They sleep in my bed as we are all in a tiny space. The morning, afternoon, and evening meditations are no more. Even sitting still typing this one is talking at my face and one is climbing on my back. I went outside this morning to meditate with nature, they follow. We look at the ants as I try to show them the tiny world beneath our feet we should be mindful of. Any ideas in how to stay still within the chaos on and with me? Oddly enough, when the chaos hits intolerable levels the stillness pops back in just as it is when undisturbed yet without any intention to bring it. How to hold the stillness in the in-between?

I don't believe so. Imagine if there were no religion. Wouldn't we just sit quiet and wonder why and how we became here? As a child does? Where would we search for meaning without any guidance? It would be In our own thoughts. At a point just stop thinking and be present. See the glory in all life and be grateful, because we are that. Not sure that made sense. Nighty night.

I agree with the others. Spirituality and meditation is about going beyond "labels" but, of course, religions can enable to achieve that too, I suppose. I think one can do it within the "structure" of a religion and also without it. Don't mean to give a confused reply so I hope you get the gist. 🙏💗

@FutureGreyhound what if you let go of labels like agnostic. how wonderful that you are here watching this & considering 'religion'. but what if we have outgrown it? what if 'searching for answers & meaning from an external power' is what John addresses here? he points within, to the qualities of silence, presence, peace. so many have given their power away to religion telling them what to do, how it all works. the answer is within the silent present place that john describes. so maybe make that, your own inner abiding , your religion? xo
