Hi Paul. I love these videos. They're great. If No Hay means There isn't, aren't we saying there isn't nothing? Shouldn't it be Hay Nada? Thanks!!
@SpanishWithPaul7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jason, yes Spanish is full of these kinds of negative expressions... no hay nada would literally mean "there isn't nothing"
@DarkManzPK7 жыл бұрын
For latin languages "No hay nada" can´t be litteraly translated to "there isn't nothing" but instead "There is nothing" or " There has nothing"... it's just a tiny bit diferent.. But the way that Paul teaches is 100% correct aswell.
@carlosd.a.92577 жыл бұрын
Jason Clay We use double negation as normal language. Even in old times in Spain, we were using double negation as normal. Hay nada, for us, is weird. Aswell you find weird when someone says: - There is not nothing. Eng and Spa are opposite-minded in this question. That is all. I think, from some point of view, there is a double negation when Eng people say: - I can't deny how good it was. Why not to say... just... "How good it was!". In Spanish we can do aswell "I can't deny".
