..And to those who are speaking in the comment section saying that one tank is automatically better and would smash the other; tank warfare isn't just about the equipment. Better tactics and training always can trump equipment. Even older out of date tanks can defeat newer more modern tanks if their tactics are sound. Even a T-55A could penetrate rear of M1A2 Abrams in ideal ambush. Point is combat is more than just stat numbers.

It amuses me when people start talking about US vs Russian weapons and they don't consider nuclear weapons as part of equation. There is movie from late 80's "The day after" Soviets attacked and NATO launched nuclear weapons on their ground forces. It really doesn't matter how good equipped is your infantry if they got hit by nuclear weapons. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers are in open. Thy would simply die without any chance to survive. Same goes both ways. Tactical nuclear weapons would prevent both sides from gaining any advantage on battlefield.

Actually, the armoured carousel already exists in t90a, but not as good as t90m ofc. When 30 T90M was being produced, 10 of them were factory made while the other 20 was made by upgrading T90A. I think the T-90MS is an outcome from the syrian war experience. They need to make the tank safe against threats in urban enviroments. Thats why the use the 360° field of view with independent commander sight and so on... The armor packages on the sides and rear of the tank are also important for the protection aspect. All that is a trend , which we can observe in all other nations too. That is a real important development in tank history.

Nope. Go actually research the tank. You'll find it was mostly superior to anything NATO had that wasn't a Leopard 2, Challenger Mk.1 or an Abrams. Event those tanks early tungsten sabot rounds would have struggled with a T-72A's turret at longer ranges (+750m) The T-72Bs turret had the Soviet equivalent to Chobham armor and was far tougher. In addition; the early 120mm HEAT rounds available in the 1980's for the L44 were not powerful enough to penetrate either tanks frontal turret cheeks. They tested this on acquired East German T-72As after the iron curtain collapsed in the 1990's.

Ok so the way I see it the T80BVM is probably a pretty good idea. T80BVM is going to be a fast and maneuverable alternative to the less mobile T90A or T90M, and it will also cost less than T90M because much less work is put into the modernization while still putting in necessary features like 2nd gen thermal and the modern auto loader. The lack of CITV may be a problem, but M1A1 did very well in the gulf spotting targets at over 2 km without CITV and communication between units with CITV and without could offset the disadvantage. Also, I'm pretty sure Russia has a LOT of T80BVs because the soviet union wanted it to become their main MBT, but I could be wrong about that.

@@blogsblogs2348 Yeah politics can be a pain in the ass but then again, no legal arms deal is done without politics. But then again, there's no way to make a (legal!) arms deal without politics. (Source: www.scmp.com/week-asia/politics/article/3034460/russia-offers-arms-technology-philippines-no-conditions-us-ties ) That's not much but it's definitely a start. Hope it'll work out well. Tanks on the other hand...that's more difficult. T-14? Forget it! The only T-14 tanks the world will see for the next 5-15 years will be the ones that serve in Russia. I haven't read anything about planned export variants. Same goes to T-90M which is made for Russia only. Other nations can purchase the T-90MS which is the export variant. Those cost around 4.5 Million USD each. The good thing is, there's no upgrading etc. necessary. And 4.5 Mil USD isn't that much for one modern MBT. And believe me, sanctions or not, Russia can sell weapons to pretty much every nation they see as a trustworthy partner. Who'll stop them from doing it? Those maggots from the EU? The US? Russia doesn't care and that's good.

@@dmitrit.4862 Unfortunately the sanctions would be imposed on the philippines if any direct sales were made.. hence round about.. progressive increase etc... if philippines is subject to sanctions it's game over.. and you might as well hand china the keys.... The t90m dash t14s I mentioned were those with instructors .. wink wink.. and support staff.. ahem... maybe they could set up next to the new US humvee camps.. for which they aren't even paying rent this time... If the philippines had serious financial capacity that would be a different matter.. Unfortunately. . Not only are they strapped for cash.. but the usa doesn't realise that they are a bit too proud to ask for the sort of help they seriously need.. and this is not helped by a strange definition of the term ally by the recent administrations... If this was Israel. . There would be a fleet of strategic transports lifting in.. 5000 assorted vehicles and enough kit to equip half a dozen light divisions from deep reserves and that would be that.. China could go whistle... and USA would save a ton of money and lives in the long haul... Unfortunately the philippines is not Israel and no one's going to go upfront and help a country that's viewed as the worlds domestic workers.... With Indonesia giving china the big middle finger a month ago.. it's likely that the philippines.. long viewed as the softest target will be getting a visit in the very near future.. not helped by having to redeploy a lot of units to the southern insurgency area..

Great video!I've never understand how they could simply abandon 3000+ T-80s already in reserve! Do these T-80 versions all have remotely controlled 12.7mm MG? Will any of the T-90s or T-80s or BMP-3s feature Arena APS?
@RedEffectChannel6 жыл бұрын
No, T-80BVM doesn't have remote MG, it's a common misconception, only T-80 variants with remote MG are T-80UD and T-80UE. There is no information on Arena being implemented on any tank in active service
@matovicmmilan6 жыл бұрын
Too bad they didn't allow tank commander to use the HMG from inside and not implementing any "hard kill" system is strange since Russia pioneered them...
@RedEffectChannel6 жыл бұрын
Hard kill is too expensive for mass production, it is implemented on T-14 but T-14 is already a premium tank. But that does not mean they will never mount Arena on the new tanks, since Arena was designed to be universal for Russian tanks.

Thank you!Also it's good that the army decided to incorporate BMPT vehicles cause I see them as very useful!Back in 1991 during the battle of Vukovar we lost 100+ tanks & other armor due to lack of infantry support but lightly armored SPAAGs had more success! I am not sure if you are familiar with these events, but anyway, what do you think about BMPT?
@RedEffectChannel6 жыл бұрын
BMPT is excellent, it is designed to take on everything, even Attack Helicopters, two 30mm autocannons, 4 ATGMs and armor of a tank

The Carl Gustav, a 1940’s design, already destroyed T80’s and T90’s. This shows that the upgraded armor isn’t half as good as its claimed to be. With that in mind, what else isn’t that good about this tank? Also considering the poor performance of Russia, and the fact that Leopards are now in Ukraine, we can see these fight one another at some point. Assuming the Russian vehicles dare attack rather than sit behind their lines, or get destroyed by drones and artillery before they get there. So far the Western vehicles are mostly recoverable and the crew survived when hit by these. The T80’s and T90’s not so much.

can someone correct me if I am wrong, the T90MS is the first Russian tank to get a CITV? and putting the ammo at the back of the turret with blast door make the T90MS much better in terms of survivability (in my opinion) than the lets say latest chinese tanks like type99a and VT4. This is one of the design I really like. sorry and my second question is how do we classify second gen and third gen thermal viewer? how many tanks now have third gen CITV?? thanks.
@nicolas80983 жыл бұрын
first generation thermal imagers are referred to have basically only one larger detector, with a mechanical scan creating a "2D" image second generation thermal imagers already have a few dozen detector elements, and their mechanical scanner can also create "deeper" images the third generation devices have a two dimentional arrays of detectors and usually have way higher resolutions. Some 3rd generation modules also don't have to use any scanning mech at all

What seems so special about them is that, whenever they are actually involved in a shooting war, they never seem to fare well. Of course this is always due to be "mishandled".

@Insert-Retarded-Reply-Here2 жыл бұрын
And you also seem to be claiming they aren’t being mishandled. Do you even read anything about this war? They *are* being mishandled, the crew are often poorly trained, no morale, unclear objectives, poor leadership, a stupid attempt to blitz kyiv without air or infantry support and causing a traffic jam of tanks on the roads in the process. No tank no matter how good they are fares well without being implemented properly in combined arms warfare. Of course the Russians seem to be learning their lesson and the battle performance of these vehicles reflects that
