I started removing my lawn and planting natives 2-years ago in another 10a zone in FL but am just learning, no veggies yet. Very inspiring for those of us not using chemicals! Thank you!

You guys do such a great job. I’ve been hoarding tips from your videos for my future food forest. Thank you for sharing! 🤗

Thank you! Ping us when you start, the videos are just a drop in the ocean of what’s going on here 😂 - plants themselves are giving so much knowledge once you start growing them:)

@@growpuravida Will do, and absolutely! I’m a gardener in New England so I am super excited to learn more about tropicals and be able to grow year round. 😀

Beautiful garden, my biggest problem was whiteflies I can no longer grow hot peppers. I like yourself don't like to use pesticides
@growpuravida2 жыл бұрын
There is a bunch of insects that predate on whiteflies: lacewings, assassin bugs, mites. I used to have an infestation from a Neighbor’s ixora jungle, released swirskii mites that i bought from Arbico organics - it’s a predatory mite that eats whiteflies, spider mites and some others… if you’re in the tropics your choice of predatory mites is a bit limited, swirskii is the only variety that withstands our hot summers. Haven’t had a problem with whiteflies since the release. A couple here and there but not an infestation.

Thank you for this information, what are some books or online resources you could recommend for nutritious plants and veggie varieties that can thrive here I'm also in South Florida - Hollywood Area
@growpuravida2 жыл бұрын
I’m really not sure about books, we have been mostly learning from Tropical fruit forum, local grower friends and the Miami-Dade Master Gardener program and by visiting good nurseries. Local Facebook groups are also a good resource. And lots of trial and error, lol. When you buy plants, don’t shop at online nurseries that are out of state, especially up North. Very few things grow. For annual veggie gardening, regular northern veggie seeds are good but don’t waste your time on berries, flowers and fruit trees. The best bet would be to visit an experienced local seller - they usually know what grows best here.

@@growpuravida That'll be great we're nearby here just north of you in Hollywood, we'll have to do a check on our local master gardener and do more browsing at other nurseries. :) Thank you

Your program will be Broward MG program. We’re still in Miami-Dade so had to travel all the way to Homestead. Which wasn’t a bad thing actually because it introduced us to a vast array of Homestead nurseries and businesses.

As always great video. Is it possible to trade scions with you? I have 18 different mango trees and 80 other fruit trees here in Broward.

What is the best time to plant Ashwagandha?
@growpuravida2 жыл бұрын
It grows well in Summer so you can plant it in Spring, but winter time has been good for us because it likes drier conditions, and last couple of winters have been mild.

Hello sir why don't you try growing sun hemp and mustard...both help with nematode problem...also sun hemp is a legume so it fixes nitrogen in the soil...
@growpuravida2 жыл бұрын
I tried to grow sunn hemp but it didn't do super here, and died from nematodes before making seeds. We plant mustards every winter, they don't survive summer heat.
@arijitpal1662 жыл бұрын
Oh sir,yes mustard does not survive in summer... here in India also it grows only in winter.....
