We all want to be happy. We spend a great deal of time and money and effort on trying to be happy. And yet, we're downright terrible at it! We may go to the gym, eat right, consume our favorite content, and try all the drugs and products that are marketed to us with the promise of making us cool and happy. And yet very few of us are genuinely happy.
For most of us, our baseline level of happiness, those times between the pleasures we indulge in and between the stressful events of our lives, is far lower than we wish it to be. And if our baseline day-to-day level of happiness is low, we become suceptable to those advertisements and we become a slave to pleasure-seeking.
So what are we getting wrong? What can busy people with stressful lives do to be happy if all that stuff we've tried didn't make us truly happy? In today's KZbin video, I share why we're not happy despite our best efforts, and I discuss the secret to finding the source of real and lasting happiness in every moment.

for 57 years I thought I was doing it wrong...and I was but not everything. I have learned to appreciate the small things to allow them to make me smile for no reason. But I have also given into fear too many times to count and have come to realize that living right now and allowing life to fulfill me is my happiness. I am currently in what most people would perceive as a nightmare but am grateful everyday that I am living through it and growing, I have never been happier then I am right now.

I related so much to this, thank you. I retired after 47 years of working. I reflected on the busyness during this time. I can say I enjoyed parts of this scattered over the 47 years but ran hard, a road warrior, focused on the next assignment that would make me happy, it never happened. After retirement I continued this pace and annoyed people, realizing this pace wasn't going to work. I became fearful and scared for weeks, having to understand my fear and why. I listened to many of your recordings, all helped me so much. I'm greatful and appreciate you so much. Im a work in progress. Thank you. 🩷🙏

Todd! This was really really good! I sorta laughed the first 20 seconds, but this is so so true. Go look at the 50, 60, 70 olds working at Home Depot. I ask why are you here? Sadly say something to do. Or bored … I’ll ask them about volunteering at local community organizations, or mentoring. .. I find those points of pain. It’s “the fear of not being good enough.” Yup

I've watched several of your videos recently. What gave you the final courage to just go or know what to do next in life? I quit my job two months ago and want to be and feel at peace like you. However, I have no direction in life how to change and feel like life will suck me back into repeat mode once out of savings

If you didn’t get some or all of your biological needs met ( everybody on a sliding scale) you will have repressed pain ( anxiety) Your organism then goes on a “drive to repair” your unmet needs. Basically in simple terms you see your power outside yourself. This never works and will exhaust you. You must turn around and look at yourself. Healing requires feeling your pain. Then you start reclaiming your power ( nature) The pantomime catch phrase “ it’s behind you” or in a way “it’s outside you” is wrong, “its really inside you”!

Thank 🙏🙏🙏 Great 👍… other reasons for NOT being always happy are: guilt, negative feelings gotten from past childhood experiences that: a) something bad will happen if we are always happy, b) we don’t deserve to be always truly happy because suffering is part, parcel of living….
