The right rear brake was not loosening up on my 2007 Honda Odyssey. Stop and go traffic would heat it up but highway speeds it was ok. I just changed out the caliper and hoses. Works fine now.

A problem I encountered on my '92 chevy astro was both front hoses were restricting return flow from the calipers, causing them to appear stuck. New hoses solved the prob

@@1AAuto I think he means diagnose then replace not replace and figure out if it solved the problem. That’s the difference between a good and bad mechanic, it’s only brakes and I’m not even done the video so no hate. But it’s common for hacks to be part changers

He did find the problem with the thermo gun that shown the brake was overheated. He could have just cleaned the brake and put some antiseize on the piston, sliding pins and pads but he replaced it as brake parts are quite cheap and it's the most important part, spend extra as preventative measure is a good thing unless you are on A very tight budget.

I have 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 - I replaced the rear rotors and pads and was able to manipulate the caliper piston with a tool, but I am getting some resistance while driving and some smoke from the new pads/rotors. Is it normal for new pads/rotors to smoke?

So I just put new front brakes (rotors and pads) on my jeep. I noticed the smell when I got home. The brakes weren't dragging when I replaced those parts just squeaked. You thoughts please? Thanks

I am noticing a burning smell like that but I had my brakes done recently. I read that it can also be resins in the pad curing. If that is the case I hope they cure soon. It is not a great smell and its easy to blame large truck for it since some of those trucks do smell bad. Some of the same trucks leave a trail of black smoke and it is not great being in that stuff.

Brake pads might be burning up. Check for rubbing or metal on metal

Went to Sequoia National park and /brakes/tires started smoking going downhill. I checked it once more when I got to the bottom and no more smokes. Why did it suddenly stopped? Is it because im braking less? But before this my rotors were bad too. I had it replaced because when the brakes were hot (for the same reason going down hill) my brake pads stats to knock back. Freaked me out that my brakes might just go out and I bust an E.T.

+Mr.Nice Guy Thanks for watching! Brakes work on friction, so going downhill for a long period of time and applying the brakes often can cause them to overheat. If your brakes are working fine now and do not notice any bluing on the rotors you should be fine, but might be worth taking a closer look for excessive wear.

Most of the time it's the caliber. Also wheel burn goes bad also. Alot of roaring if it's bad

I have a Toyota Camry LE 2001 2.2 liter 4 cyl engine . When i was driving it today it smells like a burnt rubber . And the brakes kinda smokes to the passenger tire .and i heard kinda grinding noise when i brake .Iam thinking its my brake pads .I have no experience on this kinda issue . I was gonna change my brake pads . Any good info would be appreciated

+James Michael Thanks for watching! You should apply some of the things we point out in the video to help make that determination. Chances are you are going to have to replace more than just the pads if your brakes were actually smoking!

Hey 1A Auto, if a 90 minute car ride in 2011 civic had my front brake rotors at 50ish degrees celcius vs 35 centerhub and one rear drum at 37 vs 32 center hub , is it safe to say i have stuck or dragging brakes or warped rotors or something? i changed the front pads about 6 months ago and was supposed to change rear shoes when i changed tires back to summer but forgot. i just changed from winter wheels n tires to summers yesterday and also have a howl that wasnt there last summer, hopefully this goes away after i fix brakes? there was a faint almost constant hum all winter that made me think i had a bearing going, the sound was ESPECIALLY bad this winter when it was very cold and got even WORSE when i backed up in this cold. is this brakes or bearings or what? now if that slight hum is still there its drowned out by this new howl since changing tires...?

You seem to understand the issue at hand so why not just fix it. Its obviously the bearing and breaks both. Once the bearing gets shot at wobbles and will make breaks get a bit hotter from not running perfectly inline with rotor. So get a new rotor and a new bearing and I bet she works like new again. Be sure to check if the pistons and slide pins are clean and move freely.

No, because the switch that controls the brake lights is usually located near the brake pedal. So the brake lights usually turns on only when you press the brake pedal.

All good work. Except if had many break jobs of frozen breaks. And honestly never had a bad caliper after being to hot. Seals are molded rubber and withstand extreme heat very well. If it wasn't leaking when you took it off it ain't leaking putting it on. You're trying to sell unnecessary parts. Secondly. The brake cable moved if you would have removed it and used a syringe to put diesel fuel down the inside of cable then blow out with air compressor and the dump a few drops of motor oil in the cable and and move it back and forth a bunch or if it spins I side cable guide put it in a drill chuck and spin for 1 min she will slide like butter. So more money saved. Basically you only know how to bust out money and replace stuff, you dont actually know how to fix and save money.

I have a 2001 Ford Explorer and the brakes seem fine, they are not binding because I can push the car very easily and they feel to work very good, but if I am going down a steep long road the brakes burn and smoke pours of them. Any ideas what could be the problem and could it be just poor quality brake pads as I do not know what brand is in it because I have only had it 6 months. Thanks.
