You do get more budget mobo options with the 12100f cause you might need bios flash back or access to a 12th gen chip for a 13100f to work on some 600 series boards which are cheaper right then 700 series.

Nah ain't worth it. Going with the Intel Plattform gets you Pcie 4/5.0, DDR5 Upgradebility and you have a better upgrade path because of the 13th gen The 5800x3D most times gets beaten. Going with Ryzen 7000 is different tho. That probably will be better in the ultra high end

I have the 12100f cpu and it's so good combined with my Zotac 3050 very nice budget build for me all parts available. But my case was a little on the expensive side, like $426cad but that's not a problem I was gonna make a 4080 build not to long ago with crazy parts, people laugh saying I could have gotten a 3070 if it hadn't been for the expensive case. But like I said I went cheap because for the future I'll show them what I was gonna make lol

I don't think you should go for a 4 core processor. Save a bit more and go for 6 core Idk what your budget is but . For Intel build I would go for b460 and i5 10400f For Ryzen b450 and Ryzen 5 5500 or If you could save up little bit more get 5600 . it's worth the money. For GPU I would go for Rx 5700xt red devil or sapphire nitro+ or cheaper version gaming oc or xfx. For ram I would go for "corsair vengeance lpx 16gb 3200mhz for 40$" and for PSU get 600wat.

i would only get a 13100f over a 12100f if it's 5% more expensive, not 10%. It's only 5% faster and also you need a motherboard with bios flashback or that supports it which is a headache.

I found a core i7 1700 for like 120$. Since I was an idiot a while ago and got an rx6500, I needed something that supported PCIe 4.0 to get the most out it. Before I had the i7 I had an i3 10100f(didn’t support pcie 4.0). My motherboard was compatible with the i7 so it was the best choice for me. If I was to get an i3 12100 or 13100, I would have needed to buy a new motherboard and gpu because the 6500 would have bottlenecked the new cpu.

If you are looking for a cooler for these budget cpus, I would highly recommend choosing a cpu cooler from deepcool. The one I have is a AG400 plus(60 dollars NZD), it has two 120mm fans, and works great for cpus with a max clock speed of under 4.5ghz under load. With my cpu under full load at 4.2 ghz and and embarrassingly badly ventilated case I average about 55-65 degrees. Plus, if you can only fit on fan on the heat sink due to motherboard constraints, you can easily move the fans up and down the heat sink with little cooling loss or even use it as a case fan that you can properly attach. You can even buy the cpu cooler just to use the fans as cheap high rpm and quiet case fans.

If you are on a budget, in my opinion get a Ryzen 5 4500, it'll be much cheaper overall (including upgrades) and more cores. (Although it won't be as future proof as the I3s since am4 is basically dead)

i got a ryzen 5 5600 instead for $20 more...it's a 6 core cpu with 12 threads and i managed a 4.5ghz oc at 1,1075v with just the stock cooler...15% more performance compared to stock and temps never go over 65c when gaming, i had never gotten an amd cpu before and i'm pretty impressed You can't overclock i3 13100f at all and comparing it to my oc ryzen it's at least 30% stronger single core and 70% stronger multicore in cinebench r23

Be aware that the f means no integrated graphics. So you rely on gpu for your monitor connection. This can be a pain in the butt if you need to update gpu drivers or reinstall drivers because of an update problem. So you’ll probably need a backup gpu just to deal with your drivers. If your set on the i3 just spend the extra $10 or so on the non f model
