In Roboquest, having a punishing health system will force players to stop relying on healing and start putting an emphasis on improving your dodging and not taking damage in the first place which in the end will increase the mechanical skills of the player. there are whole builds, hell even a class that reward you for not taking damage.
@benniebees Жыл бұрын
There are also builds that can semi ignore enemy damage cause they heal so much. There are effects that trigger when you take damage, there are effects that give damage resist, and there are effects that amplify healing. Granted, you almost exclusively heal by killing enemies. But there are builds that dont focus on avoiding getting hit.

There is one thing that wasn't mentioned on roboquest that I like; You can actually make the enemies flinch. Sock one of the little robots in the face? They're stunned, visibly reacting to it. The bigger guys are a bit tougher to stun as such, but still possible and reasonable. Idk, I just think it's a nice little thing and speaks volumes on the insane level of detail in the game.

Roboquest is one of my favorite movement shooters. Although it isn't as build-heavy as gunfire reborn, it still has plenty of options for builds. If you like movement shooters or roguelites, Roboquest is a must-play. I cannot exaggerate it.

I'm a movement slave, so its roboquest for me. Its just the way it is. What i also like about roboquest is that i'm not losing runs because i got bad rng and have to play the game for 30 more hours to try and get a good one, i'm losing runs because i'm straight trash at dodging, but I also love the secrets in roboquest, they remind me a little of remnant from the ashes and remnant 2, where you have to be super thorough to find them all. Its been the most fun shooter i've ever played right next to titanfall 2.

Pretty solid comparison of both games and how their aspects differ from one another. One of my favorite aspects of roguelites is build diversity/variety which gunfire reborn just does better
@Aulvikdngr Жыл бұрын
One really important thing you didn't mention about the two games is the damage scaling of the enemies in both games. In Gunfire Reborn, the enemies scale a lot in damage, and getting one shotted by a small random mob will begin to be an issue from the second map and beyond. Combine that with the simplistic movement and the lack of reliable means to increase your defenses (such as levelling up, purchaseable health increases, etc.), and the game becomes frustrating the further you are in the run. In Roboquest, you can level up, guaranteeing a health increase and therefore a leeway in making mistakes against dangerous enemies. Combine this with the superb movement mechanics and gadgets that help you move better, and you can avoid getting one shotted fairly reliably, especially if you build your character right. That said, if you want a game that provides a lot of variety and where runs don't feel monotonous, go for Gunfire Reborn. If you want a more mechanical game, go for Roboquest
@sabbracadabra7083 Жыл бұрын
Welp, that makes sense, but in roboquest starting from G1 and higher getting stunned, frozen or hacked will make you soak alotta shots simultaniusly, so there is still a tangible chanse of being demolished in seconds
@Baixst Жыл бұрын
Gunfire gets only better the further in you are in a run. When you get one shotted you build wrong.
@Aulvikdngr Жыл бұрын
@@Baixst there's no reliable way to minimize the RNG to "build right" during a run, so nobody's building right or wrong in Gunfire Reborn. Players either get good RNG or they don't. And before I get a comment saying "That is the essence of Roguelikes blah blah blah", in certain other Roguelites like Dead Cells, Roboquest, Curse of the Dead Gods, and even in the Chaos Wastes game mode of Vermintide 2, there are ways to sway RNG in you favor to get the right build, on top of skilled play overpowering the influence of RNG in runs
@Baixst Жыл бұрын
@@Aulvikdngr Sure, there are runs where you get absolute shit. But I feel like that's the exception. There definitely is space for decision making. And you can FOR SURE build wrong. An extrem example would be combining the scroll that sets your HP to 1 and the scroll that removes your shield. I agree that you often get one-shotted in the later levels if you didn't get good defensive upgrades, but the insane power and synergies you can build just overweight for me.

The problem with roboquest is its a speed shooter so it won't be for everyone, this was a huge turn off for me, this one issue makes gunfire reborn immediately more attractive, not everyone likes these brain dead speed shooters
@thevampire100 Жыл бұрын
The quickest way to describe those two is to say that Gunfire is more roguelite while Roboquest is more FPS. Gunfire focuses more on giving you the typical roguelike power fantasy, get items, find synergies, become absurdely strong. Roboquest on the other hand focuses more ont he mechanical aspects of a shooter, having to rely more on your mechanical skills than your itemization. There are absurdely powerful builds in Roboquest but they are not the main focus. I personally like Roboquest more, the combat feels more satisfying thanks to the fast movement. That being said, both are great games and if somebody can afford both, he absolutely should.

Of two of those I have been played only roboquest for about an 30 hours and I'll say: for me it's just amazingly polished sweet baby of borderlands with its theme look and mechanics, and hotline miami with its fast pase, adrenalin rush, high-risk-hig-reward and making decisions on a fly. It has immence accent on tactical thinking, choosing to whom kill first, movement, positioning. But in case of build making I agree that it's not too deep. Build itself has much bigger influence than said in the vid, but most of the classes upgrades leans toward choosing what'll greater increase your DPS in current situation rather than planning ahead, which makes dicisions on a build more tactical than strategical. As it is now, I feel that only one class - engineer - tends to have multiple mutually exclusive builds. Anyway, great vid, mate!

People seem to really discount the build variety in Roboquest. I'm not gonna say it has more than Gunfire, but to say that builds don't really change anything feels like an ignorant take to me. Take Ranger for example, who people might write off as a pure sniper character, but they have very effective builds where they move fast and shred close range, or chuck explosive javelins everywhere and shoot with a rocket launcher, or you can even grab the shovel and just do a full melee build.

You mention that Gunfire Reborn has more to do with alternate game-modes and the like, but it has been out longer and has more updates and DLCs; Roboquest only officially released in November. Not sure that's fully fair to Roboquest, as it could have similar stuff given time and there's a roadmap for more content. Anyway, maybe it helps that I'm still in the unlocking-stuff period of the game, but I've just found Roboquest to be better for me all around. Finding keys to unlock new directions to go, doing little side-quests for gadget upgrades, and using each weapon to unlock its item card is fun and rewards you for the time spent. I played Gunfire Reborn first, and it felt so empty and flat to me. Not to mention slow: I may not be skilled enough to whip around RQ's levels or beat it on the higher difficulties, but holy moly does GR feel so sluggish to navigate D: I also greatly prefer RQ's music hyping me up; I didn't find GR's music to be super memorable or interesting to be honest, from what I remember of it.

Its werid. Roboquest seems like the better game when you compare the 2 of these games side-by-side (especially the gunplay). But, somehow, its just not. There are some hilarous wack fuck combos in GF:R

Im Gonna Add Somethings You Might've Missed. Roboquest Has Linear Difficulty From Discovery to Guardian 4 each Increases In Scale By A Small Margin Enough To Make You Notice But Nothing To Stop You From Completing It, If You've Beat Guardian 1 Than You Can Beat Guardian 2 Through 4. If That Makes Sense In A Way For The Most Part You Can Kinda Of Make Any Gun Or Build Manageable or Work If You Have The Character You Know The Most and The Guns Have Good Affixes The Increasing Difficulty Is There But Not As Pronounce As Gunfire Reborn. Gunfire's Difficulty From Nightmare On Is Nothing But An Uphill Battle Ment To Test Your Knowledge Of The Games Mechanics, Your Knowledge of Builds, Your Knowledge Of Synergies For Elements, Your Knowledge Of Scrolls, Your Knowledge Of Affix Synergies, Your Money Management Because You Use That To Upgrade Your Weapons And To Reroll Affixes That Are Unnecessary, Your Knowledge Of Characters and Their Kits, Your Knowledge of Bosses Because In The Later Tiers After Nightmare The Difficulty Expands 10 Fold or 100 Fold You Go From Fighting Enemies That Have 50,000 Health and Dealing Minuscule Damage That You Can Face Tank For The Most Part To Enemies Having 5,000,000 Health and Dealing 5,000,000 Damage so Yes You Have To Be Very Knowledgeable And Very Skillful In The Later Difficulties Of Gunfire Reborn Because For Those 9 Later Difficulties 1 Touch From Any Normal Mob Will Put You At Critical Health and A Single Elite Can 1 Shot You. Also The Movement From Gunfire Compared To Roboquest Is Completely Different 1 Gunfire Is Ground Based Movement Game Because The Studio Made The Game Based More Around Big Numbers, Animated Guns, Crazy Builds and Loveble Characters With Some Gimmics Here And There And Cool Bosses. Where Roboquest From The Studio Had The Idea Of A Im Guessing Borderlands Inspired High Octane, Quick Platforming, Versatile Robo Shooter That Has Some Good Rogulite Qualities Like The Affixes And The Scrolls You Pick Up For Extended Healing Cells Effect Etc.. I Think If You Want A Awesome Movement Based Game With Better Graphics, Cool Guns And Some Cool Boss Fights Than Roboquest Is Your Game. If Your Wanting A Fast Paced Game With Numbers That'll Only Get Bigger As You Progress In Your Game Or Getting Higher In The Difficulties, Has Loveable Character With All Of Their Distinctive Kits Which Can All Be Increasingly Overpowered Through Building Correctly, Is More Fun Centered Game Just Meant To Play With Friends But Can Also Play Solo With Dedicated Side Modes Catered Towards Solo Not To Mention They Also Added Endless Mode So If You've Ever Played A Roguelite or Roguelike And Had Some Crazy Build But Didnt Want It To End There You Go. Ive Played Both And Put 60 or So Hours Into Roboquest and About 100 or 200 hours In Gunfire Because Ive Played That Since Beta Or Early Access. Roboquest Has 2 Player Coop and Gunfire Has 4 Player Coop Both Are Great Games Both With Their Own Niches and Unique Playstyles. Really If You Have Gamepass You can Already Play Roboquest If Not And You Want 1 And Cant Choose But Want More Replay Ability For Your Game Gunfire Has More Content With The Huge Arsenal Of Weapons, Vast Amount Of Characters, And The Huge Difference In Scrollls Your Builds Will Always Be Different Also Mentioning That It Has 4 Player Coop To Me Its A Better Deal Especially Only Being 20 Bucks. If You Read This Your A Champ And Thank You For Taking Time Out Of Your Day And Reading It.

Why do you write in Pascal Case?

@@hambaba i feel like it represents what I say more clearly. Its far better to look at in my opinion when reading and i feel like it grabs more attention when writing about something that people have questions about. Hope that gave some answers to your question

Both are good and I played so much of both, but unfortunately, gunfire reborn is not on gamepass anymore and that sucks ;(

The problem with roboquest is its a speed shooter so it won't be for everyone, I prefer more strategic slower paced fps games, I thought I would love roboquest but the movement was a huge turn off for me personally, I definitely prefer gunfire reborn, plus gunfire reborn is on my platform of choice, the ps5, while roboquest isn't, I'm assuming Microsoft did what it usually does to compete with Sony, they just open their wallet for timed exclusivety, instead of making great games they just buy them for a set period
