Thanx for your reviews. They are awesome. Have you ever tried Zymöl waxes? I've found them to be very easy to apply and one of the most beautiful finish eventhough they may be not the most durable. I used carbon and cream varieties with great results for the past 30 years. And I've heard they are comparable to Swissvax quality and looks wise. Any thoughts? Could I use Menzerna Powerlock + (I live now in EU) for durability and Zymöl carbon over it for its incredible deep warm shine? Will be it better or worse than using collinite liquid wax?

Pan , the ultimate test… seal a panel with graphing coating. Lay it under a tree. Put a bird feeder in the tree. Fill feeder with berries, (red) & wait! Then we may all see if berry acid will eat the coating into the paint. I had my truck in’95 sealed with auto armor sealant. A month later parked it under a tree . At apartment complex. Next day came out and saw bird droppings on hood . Washed it and ate into the bare metal. Less then 24 hours. Yes they warranty my hood! But this Test would top all your friends channels!

Pan I can’t tell ya how grateful I am that I found your channel. I used to manage/bartend and help run a bar for many years since the doors opened. Gave so much of myself and my life being dedicated to making this place a successful business and that ended up coming to fruition. I was bringing in more money than many folks who spend tons of money on their degree. Then in March 2020 we all know what happened. The world shutdown and I won’t give you the whole awful story but I was basically forgotten about and left hanging high and dry when they reopened. My wife and I have three young kids and 3 months prior to the shutdown we were finally able to find a house in a good neighborhood with very good schools. Things were looking up. So three months after finally having a mortgage to pay I basically lost everything in the span of a few months no knowing my job wasn’t waiting for me. After a lot of thought and soul searching I decided that I will never work for someone that isn’t me ever again. I’ve always had a talent for cleanliness and organization going back as long as I can remember. I have been working with my uncle’s commercial cleaning business part time for some extra cash for over 15 years now so I knew that wasn’t the direction for me. So I decided to start my own mobile detailing business. Been going at it for about a year now and things have not been easy but that has a lot to do with my financial issues and not the quality of work I’ve been doing when there is work for me. I have just been winging it with little to no experience running my own business and I just wanted to tell you that without your channel I may have given up on this journey pretty quick. However the knowledge and wisdom you pass along has taken me far and keeps me confident in what I’m doing. I’m good at this and I can say that without even having as many cool toys and equipment that I would like to. I’ll get there someday soon and I’ll know exactly what to do when I do and that’s all thanks to you. One thing I really dig about seeing your setup is the over the top organization. I have been treating everything I do and everything I own the same way my whole life. I even showed some of this to my wife so I could say see I’m not crazy 😂. I wish you were located closer to Philadelphia cause I’d love to get the chance to sit down and pick your brain about many detailing topics. Anyway I’ve been meaning to comment this to you on a video for quite awhile. Sorry it was so long and hopefully you come across it sometime. Pan. Thank you so much for everything you have provided me with. Keep up the amazing work sir and I hope you are doing well. -Keith Deal

Hi Keith! First of all, thanks for the kind words and for your support. Much appreciated. And thank you for your courage to share your personal life experience. You have been through a lot since the pandemic, and it takes courage to want to get through it, and clearly you have it! I always say that hard work pays off, and you seem like you work really hard to achieve your goals, move forward in life and most importantly, have the right priorities taking care of your family like that. It's nice to see. I wish you all the success in the world with your detailing business. Perhaps we'll meet in person one day at an event some place. I hope to travel more and more to the USA for different events. I have never been to Phily, so it's on my list for sure. And yeah the majority of successful detailers usually have a thing for organizing and cleanliness for sure. We are over the top with it and it often becomes OCD even haha!! But that's our way of life and I'm ok with that. Better be super organized and clean compared to disorganized, lost and filthy right? I hope you have a great day and keep on working hard! How did you discover my channel by the way? Cheers, Pan

Great overview! I agree on coatings being the best protection. I have found that graphene is the best performer for my geographic area on daily drivers and working vehicles. When I do a show car, garage queen or a no rain weekend driver, I most often do a sealant topped with a carnauba wax. That warm glow and gloss is still a huge eye catcher. I plan on using the TW Ceramic wax spray as the topper. Ok idea, or no? My car is in my garage a lot of the time and not in the elements a real lot. Great video. So I have a question. I often put layers on my car but it makes it hard to figure out how long it should last and when to re-apply. So, I understand that the top coat will determine sleekness, hydrophobic-ness, etc. but how does longevity work with layers and should I be layering? For example, say I put ceramic coating on, then over that I put on a butter wet wax for deep wet shine, then over that I use a spray on detailer like TW graphene or P&S Beadmaker. How long should I expect this to last? Do the top layers protect the bottom layer of ceramic coating? Do they wear off layer at a time or does it not work this way? Should I not be putting layers of other products over my ceramic? (maybe it defeats the purpose of the ceramic coating?) Thank you and I appreciate all the great videos you provide...Very helpful.

I've been at a passionate weekend warrior level detailer for maybe a bit over 6 years. So I'm extremely far from having any experience compared to you Pan. Of course I have always been a freak of keeping my cars clean but for some reason I never actually dove into detailing for real before discovering ceramic coatings in 2017. Even in this short amount of time since then a lot of things have evolved, and I think graphene has quickly become an absolute game changer in the world of detailing. For the last 3-4 years I have been doing paint corrections and polishing before applying a new protection each autumn on my winter car and each spring on my summer car (I live in a townhouse without a garage and on the exact same island as you Pan, so winter is really a cringe season for me not being able to wash my car very often). Anyway I tried over 20 different ceramic coatings on my cars and also on other ones owned by friends and family, and this year will be the second time I will try a graphene coating, I've already chosen Adam's "advanced" one. I especially love products from Adam's for some reason. Honestly the application of graphene+SiO2 coatings have become so much easier than only SiO2, at least with what I experienced as my first time with graphene last spring I can't wait to see the satisfyingly "cold" shine with the new Adam's formula. Anyway, thank you Pan for always putting out such amazingly good videos with such high quality and high value productions of yours. It's always such a pleasure to listen to you. Take care and I hope your heart is still pounding when driving your magnificent 992 Turbo S.

About every few years I do a "color correction" then I use both ceramic and graphene on my 1965 Piper Cherokee aircraft periodically through the year. The plane was painted in 1984 and even sitting on the ramp in the coastal Carolina summer heat, the paint job looks brand new. A testament to DuPont Imron paints and the UV protection of modern coatings.

As others have said, great rundown and explanation of the types of coatings and what they do. I have a question -- which coating is likely to be the most "dust-phobic"? I certainly like the ease of water beading and runoff when washing and drying, but I'd be even more happy if I had a coating that let the dust and pollen more easily get blown off by a leaf blower or similar, avoiding the need to wet wash sometimes.

Hi Pan. I've been watching your videos for years and it has helped me to move towards some more advanced coatings. I've always liked Carnuba wax on my cars from AF but tried the Adam's spray graphene. Much easier than I expected. Just wondering if the process for removal is the same as wax? Decontaminate with iron remover, clay bar and a good alcohol wipe after paint correction. Since graphene coating last longer does it mean they are tougher to remove if applying a new coating again?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, for graphene or ceramic based products, removal is more difficult as those products are made to be durable and chemically resistant. The only way to ensure 100% removal is by machine polishing. Mechanical abrasion/friction is what is needed. I made a video showing all of this here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2i6g5WcoLloj9E

Pan, thank you for another informative video. Out of curiosity, would applying a carnauba wax over a ceramic coating still impart that “warm glow” appearance"? Of course it would mask the properties of the ceramic coating, but I’m curious about the aesthetic effect. Have a great day, and congratulations on 700k subscribers and counting!
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nathan! To answer your question, we would never apply a traditional carnauba wax on top of a coating. The reason is because you woukd mask the coating’s superior properties like hydrophobics and self-cleaning properties. Plus coatings would eventually just reject the wax as the chemistries aren’t meant to bond together. Now there are a few ceramic infused waxes out there that could be ok to use as toppers on coatings but only if the manufacturer of that ceramic wax says so. As a general rule, you want to apply SiO2 spray sealants on top of ceramic coatings for their maintenance. Here’s a video I made about how to do a maintenance wash on a ceramic coated car: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r33MloOHh7J5mZo I hope this helps.

The front wheels (I guess from brake dust) didn’t have enough ceramic coating (McKee's 37 MK37-634 Hydro Blue SiO2 Coating) to prevent the weights from sticking, but the rear wheels they just fell off. The guy tried to clean it with brake cleaner but he said it needed acetone which they don’t have. I said OK, dont charge me for the balancing and when I go to the dealer for the alignment, they will do it. Oddly driving home I never would have known the wheels weren’t balanced, not even the slightest vibration. Clearly these products work.

I WAS one of those guys who would spend many hours detailing my vehicle, but at a certain point I grew tired of wasting all that time and began looking for much quicker solutions. I now use a "dry" spray wash cleaning method and a quality carnauba spray wax, I like that old school deep glossy finish. Yes, I have to apply the spray was more often, but it only takes an hour or so, start to finish, compared at least 6-7 hours using a paste or liquid wax. If I had a nicer vehicle, I might go for a ceramic coat, but that's overkill for my purposes. I want my vehicle to look good, but I just don't want to spend a ton of time and $$ on it.

This is a very detailed explanation. My .02 is if you detail your car often, wax or sealant is the way to go. SIO2 is the new kid, but if you're applying it yourself it's a bit expensive and you should know what you're doing. First, to apply it, it doesn't come out of MF easily and there can be high and low spots. If you change your mind, you can't remove it easily either. Wax/sealants are easy to apply and remove. Plus, natural waxed smell the best.

This is the information I have been looking for, a comparison of the 4 options. Excellent presentation Pan. What is the warm glow? I only know this working with antique wood furniture. How do I know if my vehicles are clear-coated? My present vehicle was repainted before I got it, and the clear coat is peeling off terribly. My cars: 1- 1985 Garage kept, driving on weekends, never in snow/salt, and very seldom in the rain (meaning only getting caught in it). (lightweight indoor cover) 2. 1979 Outside kept, daily driver, never in snow/salt, Southern exposure in the rear, North and West exposure in front, will need a thicker car cover, waterproof. My climate: North East, 4 seasons Looking for: My biggest dilemma has been what to use under a car cover (more so the exterior for the daily driver) as I have read so many opposing views on damage to paint using some brands of car covers. I had always assumed that if the car was properly protected, most car covers would be fine, and the vehicle would have protection from the sun, pollen, bird droppings, etc on its own. Experience: I have waxed forever, never a ceramic coating, I only want to rinseless clean the garaged vehicle. No gallons of water running through the metal at least until I can feel confident that there is no moisture between the factory undercoat/breaks in the undercoat and the metal. The daily driver could get the normal wash and drive till dry. Thanks!

Wow. That was deep. Good explanation. I think that coatings start off tremendous, but then after about a year the "fun" part of the coating starts to diminish. Not that the protection is not there, but water behavior changes. Toppers help alot, but the point of coatings is protection and ease of washing. I wish the cost of coatings would come down considerably. Thank you Pan.

It's always good to also refresh coatings quarterly with a good shampoo like CarPro Reset, then use chemical decontamination like iron and tar removers, to help break down traffic film and road grime that can mask the coating's performance. CarPro Descale and Spotless 2.0 can also be used to restore hydrophobics and coating properties.

Hi Pan, i havs a brand new pickup truck. I paid the dealer for simoniz glass coating. It is definitely hydrophobic, and the shine is incredible. However, i have only had the vehicle a couple weeks, and it has been driven a total of 6 hundred miles, on city streets and the NYS thruway (no dirt roads or offroading or gravel or anything), and i already noticed a few fine scratches. I was able to buff out one above the drivers side tail light, and one above the passenger side wheel well. But theres a couple on the hood that lightened but could completely come out. The other day i noticed a speck of dirt on the bumper, and when i wiped it off gently with my finger, it ended up putting a scratch on it that i was also only able to lighten with a little maquires. I feel like this coating is super soft! I live in Buffalo, NY where the winters are hard, and i already have a couple scratches now. What do you recommend i do? The simoniz coating cost me $600. Do i have it removed? Can i top it with graphene spray or something to give it some hardness?

Hi Thomas. First, congrats on your new truck. Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on KZbin as we surpassed 920,000 subscribers and we have over 120 million views! I have been detailing for 26 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers. You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing. No paint protection product can protect against scratches and swirls. That's not what they're meant to do. Paint protections like waxes, sealants and coatings are meant to provide chemical resistance, UV protection, protection against bird droppings, tree sap, acid rain, provide self-cleaning properties to make the car easier to wash, provide hydrophobic properties, and increase gloss and slickness. The only thing that can protect the paint against stone chips and scratches is paint protection film (PPF), also known as "clear bra", that transparent plastic film applied on top of the paint. Also, never pay for the garbage products applied by car dealerships. They apply super cheap quality products that don't really perform well or last long, as they're only meant for pure profit. That's one tactic they have to increase their bottom line and be more profitable when selling vehicles: insurances, paint coatings, tinting, etc. Never accept those items. Go see a professional car detailer and have them do a proper job with quality products. Also, we never polish ceramic coatings. You are removing the coating by doing that. So yes you might be removing the swirls or scratches, but you're also removing the coating (mechanical abrasion removes the coating). There is one polish that can help remove defects on coatings, and that's CarPro Essence+ (not the regular Essence). But that's pretty much it.

@@PanTheOrganizer would it be a good idea to use some of that 303 spray right before winter? Also, can you recommend an undercoating? And do you have an undercoating video at all?
@PanTheOrganizer
@PanTheOrganizer Жыл бұрын
It depends what car you drive. Most luxury german manufacturers (BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Porsche) don't recommend undercoatings as that could void the rust warranty and they're usually made of higher grade and higher quality galvanized steel so it's of no worry. But for pretty much all other brands, yes get rustproofing and undercoating.

A new car is never new until it's properly detailed. - at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example. - vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc - vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements - at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches - at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat. If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well. I explain all of this in this popular video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h5jSqqV5Ypp2g8U So you can better visualize the new car prep process, here are the steps I perform on a brand new car from two of my customers: Tesla Model Y: kzbin.info/www/bejne/naDLnKZurbVohLs Porsche 911 Carrera: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aJTOmpysl6ukqZY Audi Q7: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmirdHWJi9OcsK8

I have been using ceramic coatings for two of my cars, both black in color. But I'm quite hesitant in continuing to do so in the future. I believe ceramic coating does look really good when it is freshly applied on the car, it makes the car paint looks really deep with unreal gloss. However after a few months, against the climate, warm weather and a number of car wash, there were a number of swirls, and lots of waterspots which I was hesitant to remove, because of fearing that paint corrections would remove/degrade the nano coating layer on the paint. As someone who enjoys detailing my own car and doing diy paint correction & waxing it, I think in the future I will go back to waxes & sealant (turtle wax graphene ceramic paste wax looks awesome). I think it will give me the flexibility to correct my paint whenever I want too without worrying about damaging the nano coat.
