Great content. Thanks for recording it! Couldn’t make the live broadcast.

Very helpful, thanks! I just ordered the Starlink Gen 3 kit yesterday. I’m looking forward to adding it to my Pepwave Max Transit DUO setup.

Thanks... been to many of your stops. Thanks to you both, my tool set includes data on all three carriers and Starlink. Phones are 5g on Visible (Verizon), Calyx MiFi X Pro (Tmobile), Samsung cellular tablet (the $20 ATT plan), and Starlink Mobile (as I pause for months at time). I have the extra long cable as well and have had to use it a few times. When planning stops where I know there will be poor or no cell, I studiously make site selection via Google earth/maps looking for sites with northernly openings. Overall, our usage is probably 50% Tmobile, 40 % Starlink (100% in the west big skys) and in a pinch (as you classified as only option) tethering on the phones (Verizon) or the Tablet (ATT). Our usage is personal browsing/streaming, no gaming or business. Also, Tmobile Home Internet at home base. I comply with TOS and do not use the Tmobile Home outside of home base. Thanks for all you do... Also appreciate your reviews on Campendium.

Death Valley 🙄 I needed a tow once...2 hours to finish filling out the form on my tow company's website due to the barely-there 3G

Thank you for the insight! Its interesting to see how useful that flagpole mount of Starlink has been during your travels; I'm patiently waiting for the Starlink Mini - physically lighter and I suspect somewhat less power-hungry- it may make more ambitious pole-mounting scenarios feasible. Its also interesting to see how far behind booster technology has fallen in a modern cellular connectivity strategy (I do wonder if a 2x2 MIMO booster is feasable, or if the government can be convinced to allow boosting the 600MHz frequencies... but the reality is that even if these things could be done, they're probably not overly useful). I also heartily endorse your Coverage? app - it is fantastically useful for trip planning when cell connectivity is important.

We look forward to seeing the specs on the upcoming Mini dish too - while smaller and likely more power efficient, we expect it have performance trade-offs.
@craigbishop10 ай бұрын
@@MobileInternetResourceCenter The FCC filing for the Mini dish last April indicated 31.8 dBi @ 14.2500 GHz and 30.4 dBi @ 11.8300 GHz... which is a hair's width better than the Gen 2 (Standard Articulated)... so it is promising; however, I suspect the uplink will suffer due to smaller surface area and (likely) lower power draw. But, as you say on MIRC: bars don't matter - we'll see how it performs when its released.

I remember taking a trip to Iceland. I rented a hotspot and drove the ring road. The hotspot worked everywhere I went. Only one carrier, plenty of data. Makes the US system look silly.

The entire island of Iceland is about the size of the state of Ohio. It's a much bigger challenge to provide coverage to an area as vast as the US with its complex terrain and population centers.

Am very interested in any additional detail you can share about experience with Insty Connect ... were their antennas better than the others? Did you have an opportunity to play with their directional antennas?
