Yeah I know they are gappier at the back than is typically depicted, but I feel like the Bumblebees' is a bit too insubstantial. Though that could be from how flexible the plastic is, and how readily everything back there want's to untab.

on Earthrise Prime you can fold up the gun and on the truck mode you can fill up the gap at the back with the longer handle of the gun where the port is at the back of the cab of it

I really love that SS38 Optimus. He's what the live action movies are suppose to look like and he's awesome. He could use an axe, some proper heels to support and that pin at the neck. It will be so good. Also I wonder if you are gonna review that figure. I haven't seen one by you yet.

Oddly enough, the RID2001 Optimus is my favorite of the bunch. Yes I know people hate partsforming, but the way it does it is actually what made me LIKE partsforming. The front of the truck becomes the prime, the back becomes a battle station... That comes apart more into missile launchers and power gloves.. and then can be reconfigured into an upgrade for the robot that almost completely changes the look. It’s so damn fun to mess with, and.. what can I say, I’m a sucker for a huge fire truck XD Still. I understand the dislike. :P

To be fair to my own review, I don't have the back half of that fire truck anymore. One of the reasons I don't like partsforming. Stuff goes missing. So I can't have a figure that looks very little like prime, that only is half complete, and falling apart win the who's the best prime contest.

@@PerspectiveEnd Lol, completely fair! It certainly doesn't look like prime and without the addon armor/base, it's.. kinda not great? I could never see it winning any "best optimus prime", part because nostalgia is a helluva drug and part because it's very different from most. It's a very valid opinion to bear! And of course, even "best optimus prime" can be a hella debatable thing off of personal values. I don't like the magic square optimus (and MP10) because I dislike blatant vehicle mode kibble (such as the crotch that isn't attempted to be hidden), but it's still a very good piece all things considered. And your video makes it very clear what your based values are and your list reflects that perfectly, which is 1000% respectable. Regardless of whether or not I may agree with the list... it's a good list and a very good video. :)

@@lavienne680 I was trying to be as objective as I possibly could. I never even took into account that someone may not like the crotch being so visible in the vehicle mode. Didn't even cross my mind. And when I say The Best, I mean like Classic version. I think that's the only way to have a what's the best that most people will agree is valid. Cause a best of the "Most Important" version is going to be up for debate. Is it the First for starting it all, is it the movie version for getting the franchise most of its recent new fans? Like there's a debate to be had there. Not so much with whats the best classic version.

I just don’t get the cliched hate for partsforming. Just so strange to hate it altogether when it can be done well. Like most Optimus prime transformations that make use of the trailer, that’s still partsforming and it’s worked out fine. Armada Prime, POTP Prime, POTP Optimal Optimus, any transformer with integrated weapons is also a partsformer and there are tons that have made it work. Just as many as have failed miserably at it.

Personally I feel siege is so good that it's better than mp44. It doesn't faux form, it is solid, the transformation is AWESOME, and it's truck mode is so unique.

If you had the Evasion Mode Optimus from Age of Extinction, where would you put it on the list? To me, I think it would be above the Earthrise Optimus, the transformation is pretty easy and I like how the vehicle mode looks. The articulation isn't bad for the price but the weapon storage wasn't as good. Evasion Mode Optimus was the closest thing we had to the g1 design in the movies at the time, before Bumblebee.

That would get high marks in the accuracy of he altmode, but no marks in Robot Mode Accuracy, it could get something in the Design but I'm not familiar enough with the version of Optimus that Appeared in the first half of that movie to make a call on that. I'd say it's fine for you to prefer that version, but as someone who doesn't have it, looking at it only from a distance I think it wouldn't do great in the rankings.

gotta disagree my guy, RID and cybertron Optimus are two of my favourite figures in my collection. I understand the issues with partsfroming, however i give it a pass because the main robot stays in one piece, and the leftover parts can be used as their own play feature rather than just being left of to the side, such as the base mode, the ability to give optimus shoulder mounted rocket pods and gauntlets, and of course the super mode.

Well I took issue with the Cybertron one just because it's antiquated by today's standard, plus one of the Unsung criteria of What's the Best, is accuracy to the classic interpretation of the character, because "Best Version" or "Most Important Version" are things people will debate, but classic version is kind of set in stone. As for the RID one it fails on that one harder than any other, but I'm also reviewing my version of it, and my version is a half complete sun bleached rusted mess, so it has to take last place on those faults alone.

Cybertron Optimus is really a great figure and IMO is better then even Siege and POTP (mostly because Cybertron Optimus looks good in all modes except the Flight mode which is more okay.) Also I have even a hard time quantifying much about your RID Optimus partly because your missing most of the figure =P It’s certainly fun and nice when you have Magnus… I miss when Characters could look more interesting and unique…

Here's an idea for the grill situation how about a company designs swiveling grill that has two sides one that's more animation accurate and one that's more truck accurate that way its optional in either mode.

That would make sense if people really care, but the Magic Square is killing it in all departments, and it doesn't have a Fake Grill. I just think it's not an issue like people making the toys think it's an issue.

This is the only difference in shape is in robot mode Optimus' grill is not even with his truck tits. But that's an issue solved with a single hinge, and a gap behind it for the grill to go. Even then, due to it having absolutely no visual impact, even just leaving it how it is in vehicle mode is perfectly fine.

Hi Perspective End. I decided to buy an Optimus Prime, but thanks to them getting older, they gave price-hiked. These are my options: Siege Prime, 39.50, SS Bumblebee Prime, 85.90, POTP Prime, 89.99, and a KO of SS Bumblebee Prime fir 28.99. (I have Siege Megs so I didn't know if I wanted the Siege one or a different one.)

I'd say go for the Siege Prime AND the KO Studio Series BB. They are less combined than either of the other two, and also the best ones at the same time. Though the PotP is it's own unique kind of Awesome.

I need a Prime Earthrise is $70, but I can't fork out that much Bumblebee KO is 15, but I'm not sure it'll fit with the generations athstetich Seige is $35, but the altmode matters to me I also want a lazer prime, but not sure if it's worth it. I'm glad you have a figure you love, but I'm trying to go with something less subjective here. The original vision for this show was to have a points system, but I found it just ate up time and was making the video longer, unwieldlyer, and less clickable so I removed it. Essentially I wanted to decide what's the best based on factors like Accuracy of Character Representation, Posability, Cost. That's why I was beating my self up in the video over Including Siege Prime so high, because I subjectively liked it to the point where I couldn't be objective about it.

I do have both, and I made a review on the TE, where I did update my Rankings, but Spoiler Alert the MS still came out on top. I'll tell you why. The MS has a WAY more fun Transformation, and MASSIVELY better posing. Every Joint that they share, the MS has more range on, and the MS has a BUNCH of joints that the TE doesn't have. If I were to give the edge in appearance, it'd go to the TE but just barely. I'd say the TE is more show accurate, while the MS is more 86 movie accurate, cause Optimus was a little Chunkier in that. Hope that helps.

And while I don't care for it, if you are discounting the Siege Prime for being Cybertronian, then I'd have to agree there is no better Chug Scaled prime out there.

Imo the Black Mamba DOTM Optimus Prime is an absolutely amazing figure. It is literally almost pure perfection in both modes and somehow captures to complex Bayverse design and makes it incredibly accurate. But I’d say it’s tied for first with my Threezero BBM Optimus figure. Don’t get me started on how amazing that figure is

I don't know if you care about Bayverse, but goddamn the ROTF Leader Prime Mold is stupidly accurate in both modes, has great possibility that still holds up till this day, and if you got a Buster Prime version, his tanks in Truck mode turns into his Iron Blaster. If I had a Prime List, that would be my number one.

You are correct in your assumption that I'm not big on that design aesthetic. I will say that those may be good figures, I can't attest either way, the would still do poorly here, because what's the best Grades on Accuracy to the Classic Interpretation of a character. Since we could argue best, or most important till we are blue in the face. So that is an area that would score nothing in.

Indeed there seems to be this link is sold out but you can see it here. showzstore.com/magic-square-ms-01sg-optimus-prime-shattered-glass_p1813.html I think you could find them on Ebay, but they might be a bit more expensive now because they haven't been in print for a while, just make sure if you buy it you are not getting the Legends version, cause Magic square also makes a legends version. So if you see it and it's like 40 bucks that's probably not a crazy deal, it's probably the legends version. So unless you want that be careful.

You know what that's valid, I was just kind of on auto pilot at that point, because it's the same skeleton as the MP10, so I just didn't even think about it, and criticized it for the same problem the other had even thought this one technically couldn't have that issue because it didn't have a gut grill in the first place. I personally ADORE the Netlfix WFC Battlefield Optimus Prime which is a rerelease of the ER version without the shitty trailer and has more muted colours which I personally find more visually appealing, though he does come with 2 piss coloured Bttlemasters which I promptly threw into my storage box since I can give less of a shit about them. I don't mind the proportions and the bumper at all, though I can completely understand your points on them. I find him to be an incredibly enjoyable figure to play with.

I was more criticizing the serries. If I had to nail down my problems with the figure. It's REALLY not an Optimus Prime. It's a red body with a blue head, and blue pecks, with a face plate... That's it. That's all the similarities to Optimus. Outside that, the proportions are goofy. He's got the Fattest shins on earth and small arms. The head is strange, and he only turns into half an Altmode, the other half I lost decades ago, as is obvious in the video. So put partsforming against him. He's got Issues.

Well the first two that come to mind are the Blue Bois, Skywarp and Dirge. More Skywarp. Dirge is supposed to be very fatalistic, "Like what is the point of this war all we are doing is killing our selves?". But Skywarp is just supposed to be questioning his loyalty. Outside that you've got Deadlock who does witch sides and becomes Drift. And also from IDW Cyclonus is friendly to the Autobots.

@@PerspectiveEnd I have three of the five... Well actually two with the third on the way. The only two I don't have are Onslaught and Swindle. I kind of hope that MMC makes a few mods to Onslaught and releases it with the stronger shoulder ratchets already installed and upgrades the knee ratchets to. I love all five but I have been trying to get them a little at a time because it is an expensive group of figures and I have to spread that out. Luckily for me it would not be the end of the world if I didn't have all five because I don't care about the combiner aspect as much as I do having them all in their individual bot modes. They look too good not to display in that mode most of the time.

@@TheShadowKarl When you say to Onslaught ratchets, do you mean the combined mode, or the normal one, because with the MMC probus they did include a new shoulder ratchet for the combined mode. It's a bit of a pain to install, but it's worth it. Just be careful because it is a little dangerous to install. Also yeah I keep them in Robot Mode too, I love both combined mode and the individual bots, but I just don't have space in my display currently to fit the combined form.

@@PerspectiveEnd I was talking about the ratchets part they included with Brawl. It is my hope that they replace both of these joints automatically in future releases of Onslaught. I watched several reviews of this figure and reviewers said they wish the replacement joint had been given for both sides because it helped a lot even on the Vortex arm. Also I watched videos showing this fix and even doing their best they were stressing the plastic removing the old joint and putting the new one in. I definitely don't want to damage my Onslaught (when I get it) to fix this joint with the replacement part.

@@TheShadowKarl You can do it without stressing the plastic, but it's hard to do on the first try. You know it's just the first time you don't know how far stuff needs to go. The I would like a tighter one for Vortex, but he's much lighter so it's not quite a necessity. The new one is almost too tight, it worry about snapping something from moving the arm. Oh and if you are interested I also just did a review of the MMC Assaults set.

Don't get me wrong, I wish it didn't. It was a bit of a problem to me the first time I went to do it, but that Transformation is just so Fun I forget it's fauxforming. Like the whole transformation is CRAZY fun, and the Fauxforming is one of the fun steps, because every step is fun. What can I say but there is an exception to every rule.

One thing I don't like about Earthrise Prime is the head. They used the same head as Siege prime, so... why not paint around the eyes silver like with siege prime? It looks so bad, especially since his eyes are also blue, so having a slightly lighter shade of blue on a blue background at the size of the figures upper face is really annoying and difficult to make out unless you're right in front of it.

That's a classic. I had one as a Kid, I basically immediately lost the fists. and the gun always drove me crazy, seriously why even mold a grip he can't hold it by. I'd love to get another.
