I have the Malarkey Legacy and I love it. I’m lucky because I live in Portland, Oregon and their main factory is only a few miles away.

Durability and wind resistance are crucial factors when choosing roofing materials, especially in areas prone to severe weather. Have you had any experience with the installation process? Is it more or less complex than other shingle types? Thanks for sharing.

This shingle can install in colder temps and it seals very fast. I don't recall ever having one of these blow off.

I live in Tampa, FL area. Because of strong wind, 1/4 of roof shingles were detached. I called a few places but they only carry Certainteed Landmark. Is it comparable with Northgate?

No, it isn't. But if you can get Landmark ClimateFlex, that is closer to the Northgate

@@homesteadroofing Looks like my current one with damage is Certainteed Saint Gobain. What is your take on that one? It only lasted 9 years before Hurricane Milton did hit us. What would be your recommendation if I cannot find Certainteed Northgate or ClimateFlex?

Most of my shingle blow off calls are for Certainteed. Buyer beware. He may be sponsored by them.

What's your opinion between Certainteed's RoofRunner and Diamond Deck.

We've used both. I haven't found a big enough advantage to spend the extra money for the DD. We use RR on pretty much every roof.

Just watched this post from you and wanted to add some personal corroboration regarding the "one problem with this shingle" point you made. I'm on the central Florida coast and had my roof replaced year. Knowing the performance advantages of SBS shingles, that's what I wanted to have installed. Originally, based on reviews I'd seen on your channel and others, I wanted to use Malarkey Legacy, but soon discovered they were not sold in Florida. That was bad enough...but, as it turned out, I couldn't find SBS shingles from any brand available from anyone in this area. Even the roofing contractor I used (which specializes in Certainteed products), couldn't get CertainTeed's own Northgate shingles delivered here (or so they claimed). It was very disappointing. I ended up with CertainTeed Landmark, which I understand is a decent product. But, knowing the advantages of SBS and willing to pay more for a premium product that provides better protection in Florida's climate and weather extremes, the fact that I couldn't get the specific product I wanted to use, or any product of comparable construction and quality was shocking. Having to accept, instead, a lower quality alternative on my house was incredibly frustrating. To me, it's crazy that no SBS shingles were available in Florida. Hopefully, the manufacturers and distributors will change that soon.
