That's funny, I'm the opposite. I used to love the SMP300 and thought it was the best watch ever made. Now after owning 3, I've gone off the newer versions - they're too chunky, the Helium escape valve is too big and annoying and the bracelets are like hand cuffs - so sharp and uncomfortable. Such a shame as the older "Bond" SMP's were perfectly proportioned and the bracelet so comfortable. I've gone off Omega as they seem to have lost their way and don't listen to what their customers want and keep makimg poor releases. They need to take a leaf out of Tudor and Longines book who have reacted to what their customers want. And no, I'm not a "fanboy" of any watch brand, I still own a Bond Seamaster 300m which i love, it's just they have fallen a bit hopefully they will change.

SBGM221 is my daily office watch that's not too flashy and great when tracking more than one time zone. The dial is like buttercream. And the light reflects beautifully across the zaratsu polished case, sword-like hands, and three-dimensional indices. It's a subtle stunner. The only downside is no loom, which is pretty much every GS.

Anyone paying $4,000 for a *quartz* movement in a watch in this Day and Age, deserves to get cheated out of thousands of dollars of their money. No, the word "Cartier" on the dial doesn't magically offset the cost. I own a Cartier pen. Love it! Didn't cost me thousands upon thousands of dollars. And no, it doesn't look like at cheap plastic Bic pen with the Cartier name in place of Bic on the pen barrel. Cartier wants how much for a regular quartz movement? Even actual Watch snobs would laugh hysterically (in private) at anyone foolish enough to spend THAT much on THAT variation of the Tank. For that much, try to get a 2nd Hand JLC Reverso (one of the more basic mechanical variations). Or, get the Baume & Mercier model that comes closest to looking like the Tank, with a mechanical movement inside, and save an impressive chunk of money.

Sinn, Hanhart, Stowa, Tutima, and LACO, refuse to ‘pay to play’ the watch influencer game. They don’t have the Rolex, Swatch Group or Richmond marketing budgets or brand recognition. The larger ADs that loan watches, loan the brands they sell in volume. The German brands simply get lost in the shuffle. They only get coverage by lesser influencers or brand fans. Take the Hanhart Preventor HD12. It is far and away a better watch than the Murph, yet all of KZbin reviews the Murph, like it’s the second coming of time traveling, watch Jesus.

Ita amazing how much influence social media have on marketing. The popularity of Tudor online is largely driven by the demographic of social media users. In the real world, Tudor is really just a stepping stone to Rolex and other luxury brands. Most of Tudor customers are in their 20s or 30s who just started this hobby, with reasonable disposable income and often is their first luxury purchase.

Am I the only one thinking COS and METAS certified…so what? Tudor didn’t change the movement in the black bay monochrome from last years movement, other than adding a letter to signify it’s now Metas too. It’s literally paying more for external testing on same movement? For a level of accuracy blown out if the water by a £20 Casio? Nothing against Tudor BTW, I love mechanical watches, but this obsession with COS and METAS feels more of a talking point for KZbinrs, a rational reason to choose in a completely emotional category.

In 1960, in today's prices, a Rolex was $1300. Today's men spending 5k on a watch are not men, they are like women who buy Hermes handbags. Quite sad. And why most Americans are broke. They invest money stupidly on new 50k cars and 5k watches. My grandfather was a multimillionaire and told me never to spend money on a car or a watch. He had a Chrysler and Citizen, and his millions grew. He fed the poor. He didn't feed his fragile ego. More pathetic material propaganda. This is why America is messed up.
