I like Yamaha kept their trademark square buttons and rectangle knobs for their modern receivers. They can blend in with their classic audio equipment from the 70's.

Rectangle knobs are underrated, they might not be as attractive but you know where the volume dial is at instantly.

I've been using the Yamaha RX-Z9 since 2007, still works and sounds great. It's been paired up with Definitive technology speakers. I recently purchased a RX-A8A and haven't yet set it up yet, but looking forward to hearing it once I do. Been a fan of Yamaha since 1994.

I'm a Yamaha fan. I owned the RN602 and loved it. What I didn't love was the Music Cast software. If that was at the same level as Bluesounds BluOS player then that would indeed be a game changer for Yamaha.

Im a Yamaha girl myself. I own 3 receivers from the 90s, an 80s Amp, an 1990 dual tape deck and a late 90s 5 disc changer. I think Yamaha is one of the more quality gear out there. I love that they incorporated the meters. I love meters. Also those Mission speakers are mint.

The USB/DAC option is Unreal!! Songs that i had on heavy rotation in my life are unfolded with new details, and extremley Warm and Smooth, This is when i used DSD 256 music files. But playing songs on Tidal unfolds the songs in the same way!! I had a Nad 3020 before, but this machine has so many creative options. I just purchased a used SACD player very cheap, and cant wait to hear it, when the first SACD Disc arrives in the mail. I connected the SACD player with Toslink and Digital RCA, and via the remote control, you can easily switch between the indputs to hear the difference. I still have to get me some analog cables to connect it with. i have had the R-N800A for almost a week now, and im still learning. Next is a new turntable ;) Get one before they are sold out, this machine is killing it's competitors!!

Timeless look! I bought a Yamaha amp in 1996 with CerwinVega! VS120 speakers and it was a great combo. At low volumes the loudness control was magical. I wish more amps had a loudness type option

Yamaha...always awesome. I bought an A-S 501 from Just Audio a few years back which is doing wonderful things for my analog audio environment. I am a long-time Yamaha fan. My son operates a CR-1020 that I purchased in the late 70s, & refurbished a few years back. I am currently refurbishing a CR-1000 to add to my analog audio gear. My main speakers are my 1970s purchased JBL L110s which I bought with the CR-1020 ...still amazing beyond belief. My digital/AVS receiver is also Yamaha...replacing old regularly failing Denon's & Onkyo's...hdmi failures, sadly.

Great round up. Are the dials and switches metal on on these? I assume the 2000 is but the 1000, and 800? Also, it would be great to have a dedicated video on the room correction feature; like where it makes the most sense because I get the impression with room correction its going to be highly dependent on the room as to how much its going to benefit you.

I’ve been using various Yamaha receivers for years. I’ve grown accustomed to their control environment so much that I find competing items more difficult to get comfortable with, I guess this is just human nature. I’m sort of an old/new school guy so I still like real speakers, not the in wall or sound bar stuff. Right now my main unit is an RX-A2a which I really enjoy. I have an RX-A1040 in another location and my garage work area where I do hobbies uses a little RX-V485. They all do well. They all drive speakers I made. The to RX-A’s drive systems made of MTM mains with MT rear and separate powered subs I built. I only use 5 channels with subs, I don’t feel like devoting the space for 7 channels and such. The Yamahas sound great, I listen to classic rock, Brazilian, some folk and jazz and other genres.. love my Yamahas

Hey Lenny. What would you advise me, RN-2000 or AS-1200 with a separate streamer? I'm not sure how long Yamaha will update the software for the inbuilt streamer, but I'm worried that eventually it might become an issue. It's mostly for music, but movies and series as well. HDMI arc is certainly handy, especially since I'm minimalist. I know those two receivers are for different purposes, but what's your take? Cheers. Saxe

Does the loudness just cut the upper mids?
@Brett1334
@Brett1334 7 ай бұрын
@@alphacapoI guess in a way it kinda does but not where it’s noticeable to the sound, it overall lowers the sound when you turn up the loudness and then if you turn it up it makes it sound more impactful at low volumes.
@alphacapo
@alphacapo 7 ай бұрын
@Brett1334 I have an A s501 coming and I haven't really seen anyone demo the variable loudness. People) are saying use it as Main volume control but that's not right. I would think u use it to fine tune the volume and cut brightness all in one. But only for lower volume listening Is this correct?
@Brett1334
@Brett1334 7 ай бұрын
@@alphacapoI think it all depends how much you change the volume of your music, I pretty much change it once and then leave it, it’s only meant to assist ideally for low level listening but I don’t think it matters, even when I turn it up most of the time I still leave the loudness dial turned on most of the time because it really adds an ‘oomph’ to the bass and in my room my speakers always need a bit of a boost.
@alphacapo
@alphacapo 7 ай бұрын
@Brett1334 ok ...to me it takes the music and makes it less in your face if u use it sparingly loudness between 10 and 11 o'clock. Turn it up loud like say 9:30 or 10 o'clock volume on direct mode then dial back the loudness to 10 o'clock or so and switch between direct mode and tone controls and it kinda smooths out certain recordings making the mids less in th face. Also dial back the bass a bit to balance the sound back outIf your having conversation with people and want to be able to hear eachother clearly. Use this setting and the music will still sound great. It takes the bark out of the music. direct mode when u want music in your face and mute for I'm in a phone call or something important.

Yamaha RN 602 is the best! Entey level but never the sound and feel. You are not missing out. Im really glad that Yamaha gave me the four way conbectivity to enjoy music. I use CD, Vinyl, Bluetooth, Wi-FI (music cast playback). My music playback is covered. Looks clean because because its just one box. (John Darko would approve) Looks are important. Pair them with Yamaha NS 1000 M. You will understand the whole Yamaha philosophy behind their sound signature. Mid range forward, life like vocals, and just the right amount of bass that you can control. Because Yamaha has tone controls! They understand that not all rooms are the same (duh) and some recordings are just bad.

Thank you for the great review! I have an RN803 and an RN602 which I purchased only 2 years ago for around 600 and 450 USD respectively. They are fantastic receivers with great sound and functionality. I am not sure how these new receiver's stack up in terms of value as it would seem they are much more expensive with only marginal improvements. Is this possibly a way for Yamaha to increase their prices in a subtle way? The RN2000 is clearly in a completely different category to the others of course. Interested in your thoughts on this. I am not seeing anything which would tempt me to upgrade to the others.Thank you.

I have a few pieces of Yamaha Hifi, A-S500 and A-S701 amplifiers, CD-S300, CD-N301 cd players and two T-D500 tuners and have stuck to stereo since my RX-V640RDS AV receiver became faulty after 17 years service. One amplifier and one tuner have had repairs under warranty but otherwise they have also been very reliable. I will be keeping all of my current Yamaha hifi gear as I find they all function very well, with to my ears, a balanced if ever so slightly dry sound compared to some of my other equipment. There are two areas that concern me though. Firstly, my current amplifiers have two fixed tape outputs but I notice that as you go higher up the new range, these fixed line outputs seem to be disappearing making their integration into my setups more difficult, feeding Tascam and Sony cd recorders and Nakamichi and Aiwa cassette decks, whilst also linking into another room where the volume is controlled separately in the other room which obviously can’t be done with only a pre out on the amplifier. Secondly, although Yamaha have their MusicCast system, they don’t quite seem to keep up to date with the requirements of third parties resulting in (not just Yamaha but some other manufacturers) falling out with vTuner meaning I now have to pay vTuner directly to get internet radio on my CD-N301 and now on even these new receivers Yamaha are due to give out a firmware update just so you can get BBC Sounds internet radio (I accept this is only really of interest to UK residents or overseas listeners who want the BBC on internet radio) but it seems a little worrying that known issues with changes to streaming methods weren’t incorporated at launch date. I realise that the UK isn’t the biggest market for Yamaha but they have served this market for many years. I also have two Yamaha guitars and a Yamaha THR guitar amp so you can’t say I don’t rate their stuff highly. Great video by the way, it’s good to see a group of single manufacturer products side by side so we can see what we’re getting for our money in different price categories.

I bought the r-n2000a. It's a bargain. Toroidal transformer, huge capacitors from high end manufacturers and a reputable 192khz streamer. I don't need much more than that! I think the r-n1000a will become the best bang for your buck solution in hifi. It's all you need to get the best from 90% of speakers. I got ns3000 speakers which are an unsung hero of the Yamaha range. 90% of the ns5000 with less volume and surprising base clarity. I'm yet to hear better speakers than the ns5000 - incuding $100k+ speakers. Yamaha takes natural sound very seriously! Every time I try and explain this setup, natural sounding is the best way I can explain it! I haven't heard the new speakers, but they have much the same tech as the 5000 and 3000. I disgust they sound great. Yamaha trickled down tech from thier high end amps to the new amps, the r-n2000a had much the same tech as the AS1000 range. I suspect they've done the same with the new speakers.

You or someone should do a video featuring some the other receivers. There were so many other brands out there and all i see on most videos are Pioneer, Marantz and Sansui. No one shows any love to McIntosh, Tandberg. Luxman, Dokorder, Concord, Nakamichi or Carver receivers. Back in the 70's some that were in the military would go to the PX and pick up a off brand receiver and have it shipped home or bring it home when they were on leave. Remember Vector Research? Nikko, or Soundcraftmen. I'd love to see more videos with these other brands from history.

Why can nobody pull off that vintage hifi look?! No long tuning dial, no fantastic lights, just 2 VU meters, with backlights.

My experience and knowledge goes back too 1975, i worked in the audio trade in the UK, the products then were premium quality and still are today. My AV system is Yamaha based , My 2 channel audio system is also Yamaha based why you may ask. Simple answer they represent fantastic value for money, outstanding build and engineering quality. Yamaha for me is a company that is totally focused on sound quality and hey they just look so good, they have to be just some of the very best kit you can buy. If a company can build premium quality musical instruments then you know they can build premium audio equipment short term expense long term investment and every penny well spent

I'm not a Yamaha fan, but I am Yamaha-friendly. That company has maintained a well-deserved respect and remained true to its principles better than most of the other popular marques.

It's interesting to note that a motorcycle company branched out decades ago and started designing and building pro audio equipment as well as home stereo/surround/theatre audio equipment!, have put a lot of their speakers through the paces !, great quality, and thanks for your videos 😊

@hmmmmmm69 I think that the tuning forks symbolized the perfect tuning of the company, I could be wrong, but I do remember seeing Yamaha motorcycles in a showroom as a kid when my dad was looking for a motorcycle. I think Yamaha then devirsefied into audio equipment in the late 70's, early 80's

😂🎉 Great "Commercial" Linny...the ONLY thing I see as something they missed is a USB connection on the back for some external DAC's with USB only connections. I assume by your enthusiasm that their Neutral clear clean sound remains the same as say my CA-800 from Back in the Day less the Class A Option.
