I agree with you about the Tactical Boys, and their channel.. very informative, and a great resource especially when it comes to gear, and of course, the sub surface footage, but when you want to learn the ins, outs, and how to's, you go to a real teacher.. no BS, no pretense, and no being spoken down to.. You have become my #1 go to, head and shoulder above the rest... not to mention we fish alot of the same waters, and where else can someone go to for a BOG!!! Keep them coming sir.. BTW, throwing big swimbaits is my newest passion.. thanks for this latest one!

Dude is right on about big swimbaits. The key is patience, patience, patience and finding the right opportunities. Big glides are addictive all by themselves. Buying a new one, making it glide just right, and then jacking a tank on it. The best thing about big swimbait fishing is the sheer aggression of the fish. I was using a 7" 2.4oz bluegill glide down here in North FL the other day, and had a 5 pounder almost rip the rod from my hands. They hit these things like they want to annihilate them. You'll be reeling and all of a sudden it doesn't just stop, dude's right, the line will straight jump sometimes. When it gets warmer, you can burn them down weed lines like crazy and trigger super awesome reaction bites.

@mattfleming86Ай бұрын
I've got into swimbait fishing, soft and hard.. and in my experience the 5-7inch, often shad shaped, baits are the sweet spot because you do get a few extra bites to keep your grind going. And i've caught fat little 12" spotted bass so its still not too big of a presentation for a hungry keeper size fish. I also habe pretty fiesty carpal tunnel and those 2.5oz and under baits are a lot more user friendly. A little more forgiving on timing/environment. Hell I never even bought a dedicated rod I have a mojo bass frog rod that has thrown nothing BUT bigger lures and it just works for me.
@ROSSCO77777773 жыл бұрын
mullet on point. do more swimbait stuff. it gets bigger fish and its a style gaining a lot of popularity
@hillbillytarzan3 жыл бұрын
I started big swimbait fishing in 2011 and you absolutely can’t take conventional gear unless you have a really strong will. Some days it pays big, but sometimes you’ll cast all day without a nip. You don’t fight the fish either. You winch just as fast as you can or it has a good chance to come off

How do you set the hook on a large swimbait when the just wreck it. I've had big bass hit swimbait so hard my rod almost comes out of my hand. So I don't get a chance to let them eat it because my line is so tight.

I live in jersey and use big swimbaits or lures and catch 3 to 5 pound bass all the time. The bass doesn't have to be massive to eat pretty big baits bass eat fish that are like a 40 to 50% or more of there size so a 5 pound bass could eat like a 1 pound shad or half pound shad easy and thats a massive size shad. So yea and even in some states there are bass that eat baby stripers that get up to couple inches which exactly the same size as those swim baits or like a 6 inch mag draft or even the 5 inch or the 6 inch Huddleston or others I won't mention lol.

Im in California and I throw swimbaits a lot. I dont make a ton of money so its tough to buy these baits. I invested in some molds and plastisol and now Im poring my own 8 inch baits in whatever color I want. The trout colors seem to work great at my local lake.

Besides brim and shellcracker what we call red ear sunfish and the occasional crappie shiners golden shiners wild shiners are all natural forage base I have found that my best crankbait colors in this part of the country are shiner colors that Tennessee shag color does really well here that's my number one go to color and I'm like you I believe the big bass are eating the 6 7 8 9 in shiners a lot in our part of the country
