How much does it cost to single turbo a MKIV Toyota Supra?
The most common mod for a MKIV Toyota Supra build is to remove the oem twin turbos and perform a single turbo conversion. The cost of a single turbo conversion can vary depending on if you are buying a pre-made kit or sourcing all the parts yourself.
The cost for a turbo kit for a Toyota Supra can vary depending where you get all the parts from. There are many Toyota Supra specific turbo kits available online if you want to take all the guess work out of buying a kit. Going with a Supra specific kit will be the most costly option for sourcing all the required parts. The cost of a single turbo kit for a Toyota Supra will range from $5,000-$8,000 depending on turbo size and options.
Alternatively, you can source all the required parts separately yourself and save a substantial amount of money. I've put together a list of the major components you will need to single turbo a Toyota Supra in this video. The cost for a turbo kit when sourcing the parts will depend highly on the quality of parts your budget will allow. One place I would not cheap out on is the turbo itself, stay with a known brand like Precision or Borg Warner. Safe sizes of turbos to run while still on the stock ecu would be the Precision 6266,6466, and 6766 or Borg Warner S362 and S366.

i have a 67 in mine the stock fuel wasn't enough past 10-12 psi, and also one cost no one factors is when you take a 20 year old motor and start adding power at least 100-2000 on top of factory, you can wear out bearings in the motor, if you have a heavy clutch you can walk the crank, 20 year old parts dont handle stress well, so plan to spend always anywhere from 1-5k on top of what you plan

Just completed a single turbo install with info from this video, this is a good starting point. I went the way of piecing stuff together, a lot more work and lots of modifications to the universal FMIC, I used a BW 362SXE, first start was one time and the engine ran and idled well. I need to sort out some vacuum lines I can hear hissing and and giving me some rough idling, apart from that she's sounding angry and ready to go! So thanks for this video, great starting point that led to deeper research everything works! 👊🏾👊🏾👍🏿

@@TunerTestDrive I ended up with a Borg Warner 362SXE, power goals are whatever I can get out of stock install mostly because I've never heard of any tuners in my country and I absolutely no dynos to tune with any way......So right now I'm having idling issues I believe its because my vacuum lines are all messed up, most of the lines are disconnected and broken and I have no idea where to put them. My Boost gauge is connected with instructions seen on MKIV but my boost gauge is reading negative boosts, is it supposed to be reading negative? What should I do with he vacuum lines?
@olukunle

OK this is sorted now, just went back and re-plumbed the vacuum on the intake according to the manual as stock and blocked off some VSV's and anyone I didn't know where it should go, car idles beautifully! Maxtow boost gauge must be faulty, still reading negative boosts

Older video, but good solid MKIV content! Unlike every other recent MKIV vid on KZbin consisting of 5% Supra content/95% narcissistic daily fake life, 100% shilling products no one wants that you got free, playing with your kids, or bastardizing a clean MKIV into a ghetto Fast & Furious flat-brim build. That said, a single turbo setup on stock fuel/ECU is pointless. I tend to see this setup paired with a stock clutch or stock auto which is even worse. An otherwise bone-stock MKIV benefits greatly from an aftermarket clutch or built auto. You can get the same ballpark power under the curve on stock twins with OEM driveability without any headaches and hassle than a single setup without supporting mods. Nearly everyone misses this simplicity once going single, so all the negatives and none of the positives of an unleashed single turbo setup with supporting mods which is still amazing 30 years later. People do it for the bling and single turbo status it appears, while a proper BPU car walks them.

Hi, First of all thanks for this informative video, short and sharp! I've watched this over and over, just planning a restore and single Turbo on a 93 TT I got. I have poured through hours of videos and resources, I saw one video with a turbo that had both oil lines and coolant lines plumbed through it, but I noticed that the Borg Warner setup you have doesn't have coolant lines running into it, all coolant lines seem to be blocked off, is this correct?
@TunerTestDrive

Yes Borg Warner and many other turbos manufacturers offer some turbos that are only oil cooled. In this case you can just block off the existing turbo coolant feed lines that feed the ORM twin turbos, as they will not be needed.

Why colder plugs? Never heard that
@TunerTestDrive
@TunerTestDrive 7 жыл бұрын
Higher boost(or bigger turbo and same boost as a smaller one) produces more heat. A colder plug will help dissipate the heat. If a plug gets too hot it can cause power loss, and detonation. Even at BPU levels on the stock twins it is recommended to use a colder plug.

Hi, can you put that turbo kit on a stock supra with the naturally aspirated engine that doesn’t have turbos from the beginning and without anh changes make 500hp?
@TunerTestDrive
@TunerTestDrive 3 жыл бұрын
It’s not as straight forward on the NA engines. Depending on the type of GE (VVTI/non VVTI) can limit the strength of the bottom end. The NA engines also weren’t designed for boost so the compression is high, fuel system is smaller, ecu will need upgraded, and drive train is weaker. So you can boost the GE but it’s a little more involved than a GTE to push it to 500hp and beyond.

You’ll either need a piggyback to control the extra fuel on the stock GE ecu, convert to the TT ecu (mods to the ignition will be required as well) and still potentially need a piggy back ecu, or go with a stand-alone option.

Why are RHD Supras so cheap..??
@frontspring1
@frontspring1 4 жыл бұрын
Because of the kapooter valve defect they all have.

@@frontspring1 no, because RHD are wanted by only 1% of the Supra community. They are cheap because most dont want them so they are hard to sell.
