First, Yay. :) Here's hoping Cliff gets better and has less pain as time goes on. While I can identify with "invisible" disabilities, I do not pretend to know exactly how this problem effects you two. I can say from personal experience that having someone there for you can be an incredible help. You are being a great person in being there for him like you are. In that at least, he is a lucky guy. Here's hoping that things get better for both of you.

Jenna, we never needed Cliff to do anything that he wasn't physically up to, nor did we expect him to put anything else ahead of his recovery. These videos are fun, we learn about writing from you, we enjoy your personality, and we get to act like immature goofballs in the comment section, its a pleasant thing for us to do on a Wednesday evening. But we know that you and Cliff are not television characters, you are real human beings, you have to take care of yourselves first and we don't expect anything different, as least those of us who aren't assholes don't. So please take of yourselves, update us on Cliff when you are willing to, and we will be here when you get back.

Your old friends were awful. Just because Cliff looks ok doesn't mean that he is. It's like any other internal injury, mental or physical I mean for goodness sakes, he broke his back!!! Had they never fallen on their back and then maximized that pain by a million for perspective???? You both are much better off without them. Jenna, I highly respect you for you're decision to put your life on hold for Cliff and take care of him. As a care giver I understand how hard it is, physically and emotionally and I can't imagine how hard it is for you because Cliff is not a stranger you are paid to take care of. I prefectly understand what Cliff is facing. I have nerves dying in my legs and hands (unsure about in my back) as well as Stage 2 Arthritis of my spine. Unlike Cliff I have not had surgery. I am thankful that Cliff has allowed you to update us about his condition as I had no idea about the device nor about the diet. I plan on checking with my doctor about it to see if it might help ease my pain (as a fellow writer, I would hate to lose the ability to write as I am facing now). Please tell Cliff, I am praying for him and thanks for being open about his condition and what you both are facing.

I think it's incredible that you've successfully helped him so much and learned so much about his injury. Your understanding and compassion for his situation-- visible and especially invisible-- is something that I wish were less rare. Having a mother suffering from a similarly invisible serious jaw injury (thanks to a highway car accident), I can understand the struggle to get people to understand and respect the difficulty he faces-- and the difficulties you face while assisting him. Major respect to you Jenna, and thank you for communicating so clearly and completely on the subject of both Cliff's injury and the delay for your novel. Spinal injuries are rough. I have a very good friend who has a back with a bunch of titanium in it to from a similar injury, so I'm glad Cliff has someone as awesome as you to help him Jenna.

I'm glad he recovered at least somewhat. My best friend broke his spine a few years ago and became paralyzed from the waist down. So its great to hear there are people who recover even more :D

Seriously though, my mum has a slipped disk and she feels pain all of the time. Sometimes she can bearly walk and pain killers no longer work. I'm trying my best to help her around the house so I can understand whats happening, though on a smaller scale. I hope Cliff finally is able to get better soon. He seems like a really cool guy.

Jenna, my grandfather has the exact same thing, but no pain and he is currently trying to relearn how to walk. But my grandpa is paralyzed from the waist down. His legs don’t go where he needs them to. He is wheel chair bound right now. Knowing cliff’s story and how he was able to walk again gives me hope. I have rods, screws and cages from S-1 through L-5 with discs missing, bone chips and pinched nerves. My spine actually zig zagged. 🤔 My husband was the best nurse ever! He'd even wake me up and give me more pain meds! He didn't have to listen to me for a week! Bless his heart! 😒 I'm so glad I'm an editors worst nightmare...because, I can't do much else. It's been two years since my 13 hour adventure and I can say, my back is 100% better. I have a numb shin on the right, but it beats the alternative. What you're doing is sooo important!
