I usually write on my day off since I'm usually tired when I get off work. I usually don't stop writing until I get to 1,000 words. Afterwards, I take a break.
@HORSESNDOGS95 жыл бұрын
That's great! Not everyone can write everyday because their brain power is spent by the time they try. Last time I challenged myself to write 1,000 words per session, I made so much progress! Helps to see how the story can progress and when you go back, it's practically cathartic to edit. Keep up the great work!

The thick skin one is so important. I wrote a lot through high school and the early part of university and I generally only let family and friends who heaped praise on me because it was so much better than what they could do or in a genera they didn't read or they just were two kind hearted to not say that it was wonderful. then some chapters off to publishers, got a stack of form rejection letters and one rejection full of wonderful constructive criticism that I was not prepared to take at all at the time. I stopped writing seriously for years though it was something I couldn't give up fully because I loved it too much. I've only recently started working on a novel seriously again and I've let some of the same family and friends read the first few chapters. many of them came back to say that it was really good and I'm having to poke them to more harsh about it. I keep telling them that this is my baby and I want them to tear it apart so I can make it stronger but most don't seem to get it. oh and the best way I think there is to develop a thick skin quick is to work in a call center doing customer support or perhaps something in the service industry. you kind of have to get a thick skin there

I do that ALL THE TIME! It seems as if my BEST 'Creativity' comes right AT THE END. Than I go back and RE-DO IT! This is my FIRST book, so I'm 'learning' as I go, but it's taking me twice as long to finish than it should have. I'll know better the second time around. Keep an eye out for, "Aisles of Madness." A walk through the absolute madness of terror at its most HORRIFYING! At Jedd's motel, guest's never do leave unhappy; in fact, some may say, 'NEVER left at all.' ANYTHING you.need, just 'Axe' for it, Jedd is alway's more than happy to 'Meat' your needs. Remember, Jedd will put you up, but someone else--will cut you down. NEED A ROOM?

Simple questions, should i hand write and then type it out or type out right away? This may seem silly but does anyone use a typewriter to do their work?
@literartilove29627 жыл бұрын
TX Camper I think it depends on what works for you. You may initially jot down key points or dialogues that strike you at any time of the day, which usually happens to me! using a typewriter might be fancy at first, but when you sit to edit, I think MS Word might be easier, since you don't have to waste paper or painstakingly retype the entire page!

I was one of those crazies that didn't like Harry Potter at first. The first book had so many grammatical errors that I could barely focus on the plot. She got better editors for her later books so I was able to enjoy those more. :)
