What's the deal with endorsements? (how they work and are they worth it)

Also, the drummer is the one doing the endorsement (endorsing the company). The company is the one doing the sponsorship (they sponsor the drummer). You didn't get endorsed by Vic Firth - Vic Firth sponsored you, you endorsed Vic Firth by accepting their sponsorship.
