Going from Eric and Cavs to souly Cavs, his drumming has been evolving at such an increasing speed. And his set went from a 4 piece to 12 piece. Wowsers! Keep going Cavs!!!!!

as much as it was fun gimmick seeing two drummers play in lock step, I think they never fully utilised the possibilities afforded by two drummers. seemed like a waste of potential, and it's great to see Cavs coming into his own as a really talented drummer now he's free to do as he pleases

@@MattKeenanMusicI think it was mainly just to get louder drums live, so it's understandable that they didn't explore it loads, but it is nice when they did do that a bit like with the alternating hi-hats in nuclear fusion and altered beast and all the polyrhythms in polygondwanaland

I was going to say the same!! I'm a huge fan of both Cream and KGLW and that rig rundown gave me vibes of that skit backstage where Ginger demonstrates some of his playing and drumkit... Cavs looks waaaaayyy more sober though!!!

I saw them do Dragon at manchester academy this year and I remember screaming WTF CAVS at some of the drumming at the end cos his playing on it is just pure insanity and on top of that they played it so much faster live, and still cavs was perfectly on beat, hes just such an absolute beast

If drums are what you're mostly interested in--definitely check out their thrashy-prog album Petro Dragonic Apocalypse. Cavs goes insane-o. Their earlier albums (before 2020) are from when they had two drummers, and the drumming is tight as fuck...but pretty standard since he and the other drummer tried to stay in sync. Once Cavs got to be on his own, he really evolved into a monster

KG&TLW is my absolute favourite band now, and Cavs is a huge part of why. He is a beast of rhythm and polymeters/ polyrhythms. The whole band had painted their fingernails blue at Red Rocks. I don't know why!
