But that dismantle has property to cut the space, so is more powerful. To make it simple, dismantle is just launch slashing attack for range attack, but for cleve sukuna need to touch the object to measure the power of slashing by CE (except inside domain because surehit effect)

Well the most easy way to explain is, Dismantle = A default projection of splashing that target everything with or without crused energy. So someone with enough CE reinforcement can survive this but a point blank one will be fatal. Cleave = A more powerful projection of slashing that adjusts itself based on CE reinforcement and hardness to one-shot the opponent but without domain expansion Sukuna needs to be in contact with his opponent to use cleave. Reality Dismantle = Basically the same as Dismantle but it targets everything within existence to project a slash which doesn’t have the weakness of normal dismentle and a better version of cleave that negates durebilty. But this needs hand signs and time to preform.

To Simplify: Dismantle is a close or far range attack that deal 10 damage but cannot be higher or lower than that Cleave can increase or decease the damage depending on how much curse energy you put it but you MUST touch the enemy to land cleave. Only Domain Expansion allow Cleave to be used like a range attack, otherwise it stays the same.

One example of them being used in the same fight is the fight with Ryu. He lifted his finger and used Dismantle which hit Ryu from a distance and cut him, but it was a shallow cut. So then Sukuna grabbed his face to use Cleave which cut Ryu's head into multiple pieces.

My understanding from the image of those knives, and Sukuna’s chef-like explanation, is that his attack may be simple (a slash) but how the slash does is not. Knives are the same. A thick knife design can help for things like bones but sometimes you need something different to cut through a gourd or a fruit effectively. Cursed energy appears to add a kind of tough texture to physical objects that means Sukuna has to change his method to efficiently cut through it. Then there’s Infinity, a technique that modulates how it repels to everything in the world, like an ever-changing texture. So, how does Sukuna cut through it? He has to cut through everything with a slash that modulates like Infinity.

Existence slash only applies to dismantle, at no point has Sukuna expanded the target of cleave, he only does it with dismantle because cleave attacks CE. Dismantle is the only slash that can be expanded to attack space and the world itself because dismantle can hit anything Sukuna targets, including inanimate objects. Cleave doesn’t hit inanimate objects, it targets anything with CE. So it can’t be expanded to hit space because space doesn’t have CE.

Every character that acknowledges the technique says it’s dismantle. Chapter 246 Kusakabe has an entire inner dialogue that explains the functions of Sukuna’s slashes and he also confirms it’s a dismantle slash. Then we got chapter 247 when he does it on Higuruma and he again says dismantle. And in chapter 250 while fighting in Yuta’s domain, Sukuna himself said, “I can’t fire dismantle, which has a broad strike and cuts the world while maintaining Hollwo Wicker Basket.”

i agree with your explanation, although i believe that cleave's condition is not "physically touching" but infact being at a very close range. the range is so close that its practically touching the opponent at that point, making it seem like sukuna is touching the opponent. how far? maybe just enough that sukuna can reach the opponent if he tries to extend his arm. reasoning being the ryu panel and that one scene from mahoraga fight (the scene where sukuna puts his arm close to mahoraga and a barrage of slashes hit mahoraga, i suspect that might be cleave at play.)

This was a really REALLY good breakdown of the difference that I didn't know I needed. It makes his "newest" technique so dangerous since it actually is a Cleave rather than a Dismantle. One thing I would say is that, while Cleave seems to be an automatic OHKO, Dismantle can be amped to do more damage. There's just a max cap on it.

If Nanami can subconsciously protect his soul from Mahito's attack, you could use this as an argument that Hakari's Jackpot subconsciously protects/heals the soul to his maximum limit. Although this is still considered headcanon. I personally don't believe Maki can kill JP Hakari, but that doesn't mean she loses. All she has to do is wait for the JP to end and immediately slice his arm or head off

It is basically said that the barrier recognizes any target by its CE so objects without CE aren't recognizable, Sukuna's barrier shouldn't be an exception to that. So I think dismantle isn't a surehit attack but a rapid flurry of attacks that is theoretically evadable but there are so many attacks that it is basically a surehit effect

Here's how I think it works. Sukuna is incredibly knowledgeable about even the most esoteric aspects of the setting's power system. He can perceive the soul to some degree (though not modify it), and we know it's also possible to perceive the "soul" (whatever that means) of inanimate objects. So, I assume he uses that skill via his domain. Also worth noting is that MS is barrierless and operates under somewhat different logic to most domains as a result, though the full differences aren't absolutely defined.

Imagine cutting a bone or a piece of meat. Dismantle is a normal slice(you have to move the knife back and forth to cut through). Cleave is when you swing the knife(or cleaver) down on the meat or bone with more strength to cut through it in one go. Basically, Dismantle is the normal attack while Cleave is supposed to be the one-hit kill on something tougher.

They'd have to use RTC and learn how to attack with positive cursed energy. Then be lucky and good enough for a black flash to occur if it were even possible with positive cursed energy. The natures of cursed energy and positive cursed energy are very different and do not operate the same at all. Positive cursed energy just seems more stable but less flexible and slower to control. Edit: Overall it's too slow to even be possible considering use of RCT, skill issue with positive cursed energy and the slow nature of positive cursed energy.

@@Kingleader507 so far we have seen no character attack with raw positive cursed energy. If sorcerers could do this dealing with cursed spirits would be effortless. We see Hakari overflow with so much cursed energy it converts to positive but even so he couldn't attack with it and can only buff/heal himself. There's a possibility he could attack with it but it wouldn't be useful against anything that's not a cursed spirit. It's likely that the most that could be done is using RCT for one's innate technique to get its opposite effect. To use black flash with an innate technique would be even more difficult let lone RCT then innate technique. Considering all this it makes Mahoraga's blade that much more unique. As it is possibly the only instance we've seen of positive cursed energy being used offensively, but even then it's in the form of a blade and not shapeless like normal cursed energy. Positive cursed energy seems not only hard to control but it's expenditure is double that of cursed energy. It would make no sense for even Gojo to perform RCT and control positive cursed energy to attack (if possible) all in a microsecond. It's not even offensive in nature with it only being harmful to beings of pure cursed energy.

The point with the world slash is to cut everything, so yes. Yuji and Rika seemed to have been hit by dismantles, and Rika seems to be also disappearing due to Yuta's damage.

No because innate domain is your truly pinnacle of jujutsu and I think there's something to do with the connection to the real soul And for yuta i kinda doubt it because mahoraga is special case just like you need six eyes for limitless #maybe

If Yuta copies 10S then yes, he would be able to summon Mahoraga. There's no need to make it complicated. It requires nothing special but everything that Yuta already has and beyond that than Megumi.

wait, in the newer chapters when yuta copied sukuna's technique and used cleave on sukuna, he didn't touch sukuna but sukuna DID grab the sword he was trying to attack with. Could this imply that if sukuna touches something and THAT thing touches his target then cleave works too?

it could, but each sword represented a CT meaning it’s possible the CT was just in the sword, kind of like how some cursed tools have CTs.

@@dankmemes7729 Not really. Normally it travels as an invisible (or black if you can see Sukuna's curse enery) line that cuts everything it's path until it runs out of power. Instead making travel Sukuna just makes it spawn on the target. Think Amateratsu vs Phoenix Flower Jutsu

The way I understood it is that Maho adapted to Dismantle first, and was about to adapt to Cleave as well, but was interrupted by the fire arrow, which killed him instantly since he can't adapt to a new attack until he is finished adapting to the first. Maho was still healing from the initial flurry of slashes during the domain. If he had been able to finish healing, he probably would have been immune to all slashing attacks.

Cleave is close combat while dismantle is far range attack tbh sukuns CT had low mastery since it cutting not alot of people can make new attacks from it

I dont have the money to donate but I have a really confusing question about Mahoraga, how was it able to adapt to infinity? Its not an attack, its not a domain, but it is a CE, but how was Mahoraga able to adapt to it?

Because once Mahoraga gets hit by something is when his adaptation begins and there's two types. 1. Mahoraga adapts by being hit with a single technique and gradually adapting to the whole of the technique from that single attack, but this process takes a lot of time. 2. Mahoraga's getting constantly hit which helps his adaptation speed, and if he gets hit with an new attack then his adaptation will be even faster until he completely adapts. Sukuna was taking the burden of the adaptation and was hit a lot by Gojo's techniques.

No, people with heavenly restrictions have a healing factor (weaker than RCT). Kamo had to stall Curse Naoya after Maki got hit by the mach 3 ram so she can slowly heal

But then I don't understand how Gojo survived all those adjusted cleave slashes in Sukuna's domain. They were only scratching him on a shallow level and they said it was because of Gojo's strong cursed energy defense but shouldn't cleave adjust and ignore those defenses, just like Mahoraga, especially in his domain? This should be the whole point of cleave.

Any ability u use will have a max amount of ce usage That being your maximum ce output Even with cleave, sukuna's output wasn't enough to overpower both the ce reinforcement of gojo AND max output rct If it wasn't for both(or the anti domain techniques) even gojo would be minced meat We see his neck almost fully cut trough with the first slash that hits him So its not just gojo's durability
